    The cooler being an eyesore is totally subjective. I think it looks badass man.

    For those of you with an LGA 2011 board like me, you do not need the backplate. Read the instructions in the box, they walk you through the entire process of how to mount it.

    I've been debating installing mine but this video has motivated me to do it a lot.. Thank you.. What I appreciate most is confirmation ( I couldn't find elsewhere) that you can install these D15's without having to pull out the motherboard 1st.. That would have been time consuming and risky for me since I'm not confident I can get all the Panel and SATA/ USB cabling back properly without a lot of fiddling.. I like the comparison Benchmarks too.. so before I pull it I will try find the Prime95 app and run it for a while. and Finally I was shocked to see you had so much overhead remaining between the plexiglass side panel and the top of FAN 2.. That's very encouraging to see since I was assuming I'd have to leave Fan2 OFF.. Thanks Again .. wish me luck.. I'll be back in a few days with an update on how it went once I complete the effort.. Mine is a AMD Ryzen7 2700 into a MSI X470 CARBON Pro MB with G.SKILL DDR4 and a RTX 2080? Graphics card.. Thanks Again for taking the time to make this video.. even tho it's for a different processor .. it helped a lot

      @@2XPGaming Ok so here's a follow up. i did go ahead and install it. There was about 1/4 inch free space all the way around except for the DDR4 who's height would not allow for the second fan and still fit the top cover on the case so I swapped it with the Original Thermal Take fan which was about an inch smaller on each side, that was just enough to allow for the cover to fit. Only thing I wasn't sure of was the AirFlow direction , it's not shown in the instruction sheet at all so I put the center fan back in just as I had removed it to tighten the main chip to thermal plate, and did notice on the side you can't see that the AirFlow arrow is shown there.. Not so on the ThermalTake fan but I made sire the blased were oriented teh same way and checked the directions theu ae both exhausiing Hot Air Up and out the vent and thurd fan in the top of the case.. CPU is free running at idle at 52C ,, and I will do some benchmarking soon.. It was too hard to get the prime95 so I will keep using HWMonitor and 3D MARK

    This is a very well put together video. I had just purchased the Noctua NH-D15 and wasn't sure just how good it really was compared to liquid cooling, so this video was very reassuring that I made the right choice! Even though the Noctua is ugly af, performance is all that matters =)

    overall a really good video, a few things to point out though, I see you put on a antistatisk wrist band, that's a smart and really cheap way to protect your pc from accidental static when you are installing new hardware. Might be a good idea to clip it in though, since all you had on in the video was the wristband, witch dosen't do anything on its own.
    The second thing i wanna mention is your cable management, or should i call it "management" your case has a lot of useful holes, notches, latches and trays for managing the cables. please use them :-) it would make me so much more happy to watch videos like this.

    I recently replaced my brand name, 3 year old liquid cooler with a NH-D15 because of concerns that as it got older the liquid cooler may fail and leak - totally wrecking my system - as happened in my previous system build which had a cheap, OEM liquid cooler. To my tremendous surprise, on my 140w TDP i7-5820k, the NH-D15 significantly out performs the old (240mm radiator with two 120mm fans) liquid cooler - beating it most with a "100% CPU on all cores for over an hour" video rendering workload, consistently by 15C with a max temperature of just over 50C. I did use a higher efficiency thermal paste than the NT-H1 paste that Noctua provided, using Thermal Grizzly that is supposed to be 50% more efficient. Pretty surprised and impressed with the performance even though now there are a few other coolers that are reported to beat the NH-D15. I trust Noctua's reputation which seems to be well deserved so far!

      Its going to depend on your motherboard and RAM height. You should check the specs on the tallness of your RAM when installed and then check clearance of your case with the fans. You'll need to consult manufacturers manual/website for more info.

      I'd suggest using pcpartpicker to answer your question. It's your best bet as other people might've tried a similar build and you'd see it posted there. Alternatively, you can start a new build in pcpartpicker and see if everything is compatible or not.

    • @jasonx165
      @jasonx165 8 років тому

      ended up going with the x99 a-ii, using it now and I it worked great. I ended up using noctuas compatibility list on their official website, worked along better. While PCpartspicker is good it doesn't really look at the compatibility of CPU cooler sizes. I found that half of the ones that were "compatible" on PCP ended up blocking the first PCI-E slot, which is something pretty major imo.

      +Bumble Bee If you're getting good temperatures then that's fine. With OC you have to be careful not to overheat the CPU otherwise it'll get "burned out." Try using a program like RealTemp or CPU-Z to see what your idle and load temps are.

      I'm more familiar with Intel CPUs but with any CPU, the lower the better. For example, my Intel Core i7-4770K idles at about 28C. Under load it goes to about 55-60C. Anything above 90C is not good, at least for an Intel chip.

      Better just have single heatsink these days with 2 fans mounted even Skylake thing is running so cold that there is atually a problem in the silicon procces that doesnt allow to overclock above 4.9Ghz even with liquid nitrogen all that stuff doesn't even matter anymore...
