Star Delta Starter for Three Phase Induction Motors - how it works

The Three-Phase Induction motor is probably the most commonly used electric motor in industry. The problem with this motor is the high starting current, which is 7 to 10 times the rated current. Especially large Three-Phase Induction motors should be started with the appropriate starting aid. The Star-Delta starter is one possibility what we want to discuss in this video. From the content:

Thank you for the last part commentary. I would emphasize that this is an obsolete starting method. By that I mean that neither I nor all my colleagues have ever seen this in North America. I don't understand why this is still taught in schools.
