Like I said a few comments ago. I have the 4500k edition, and I highly recommend them. The color temperature is spot on OEM HID so you'll have the perfect all weather light for driving. I had the GTR Ultra 2s installed before these DDMs, and even though they are pretty bright (not as bright as these), the 6000k color temperature is definitely unsatisfactory for inclement weather. I had a difficult time seeing while driving during the night while it was raining, and driving on wet blacktop.....you can forget that crap. You might as well have your headlights turned off that's how dark it is. Now, these 4500ks cut though the night, rain, and wet streets, like butter. These are definitely the LEDs to get right now, and having the option of 4500k which is unheard of by the way, is icing on the cake!!
4500K is a great all around color temperature. I have the Osram Night Breaker Laser Xenarc HIDs (with a color temperature of 4350K) on my car and I love that it cuts through rain and fog. 5500K and 6000K HIDs will not cut it when it comes to inclement weather
I just bought theses V2's, based mostly on this review. I really am glad about Jason doing this, as I had no idea wbich bulbs to get until I watched a number of reviews. The light is awesome!! It went in easily, did not need to be "tuned", and is extremely bright in my (offroad) van!
Yes, I would like to see them compared to HID as well, not a bad idea. I recently installed a pair thanks to your informational video , unfortunately the fan noise is quite loud (with nothing else on) but think its something I could get used to. Thank you for the review!
@@muddyriverdogz how can a 35w hid kit burn more power when many of the led bulbs are rated at 30-40 watts each? Yea, bulb life isn't as long as led, but a good hid is still brighter than most leds, and don't have the output reduction led has as they warm up.
@@hunterdan2002 you can never go wrong with a good HID kit with a 55w ballast. I like to run hid low beams and led on high beams just to flash people. Usually don't need high beams with a good HID kit.
@@isidrosevier1125 I'm running 45w hylux ballasts with gtr 4000k bulbs. So far, pretty happy with them, similar output as some leds, but I feel the 4000k color temp is easier on the eyes.
Hey, I noticed that you didn’t include the DDM Tuning Saber Prox in your spreadsheet on your other channel…. Have you considered adding these and their new Saber Prox 65w version? From my research they are basically the same light/chip as the GTR Ultra 2, which imo have the best overall beam pattern to light output so I’m curious how their new 65w version would compare. Thank you and keep up the great work!
I love to run 5k HIDs on my low beam projectors and LEDs for my high beam reflector, but nobody really sells LEDs that have a true white color to match 5ks. The 4500k DDMs are a perfect match for that. Totally white and not a blue color which is terrible for bad weather.
Nice review as always. For your next videos would be nice if you could add for reference an hid kit in that projector and an OEM led headlight. Also, it would be interesting to see if the halogen or the OEM led loses intensity after that 27 minutes.
@@contagiousingenuityagency5273 you are right but that is also true for leds. If you install a bi-led projector the results will be far superior. But here we are talking about plug and play solutions and there are a lot of people who install hid kits in halogen projectors.
I have a 2010 civic sedan and last year i replaced the entire headlight assembly set with an aftermarket one because mine were very yellow and i wanted a different look. This aftermarket one came with an h1 projector for the low beam and h1 reflector for the high beam. Both halogen of course, over the past half year i replaced the bulbs in both with 2 different sets of led bulbs and neither one of them focus well in the projector or high beam reflector and even have had dark spots or streaks. And they certaily do not throw the light very far down the road. I'd say they give me a safe, truly visible range of about 15-25 feet. For this reason im very hesitant on trying any other led bulbs and am thinking of trying an hid kit. But i would like to try this ddm kit as I've seen it seemingly performs incredibly well. Just my worry is in my aftermarket h1 projector, it wont be focused and wont throw the light very far down the road, then I'll have to go to another option. So im just trying to figure out what my best option is as I've already spent a lot of money and want to make sure i can get a bulb that will focus well with my set up and not have dark spots.
This is very interesting, and I think it might be related to what I have been saying: Sometimes, light replacement units overpower what a light housing is designed for. I am thinking (just assuming) that the projectors in your aftermarket units aren't designed to handle powerful lights and throwing more light through it will only scatter it more. More scatter = less light to see where you are going = blinding other drivers = nobody can see = more dangerous = not cool = pointless. It takes *millions* of dollars for a car manufacturer to validate headlight housings for sale in a vehicle. If they don't pass validation, they don't tell a single car with that headlight unit. It takes _much_ less for aftermarket companies to make a headlight housing and sell it because it doesn't have to pass validation. They can kinda throw general engineering reflective principles and just sell it. If it looks good, they put it p for sale and make money. Done. You might be better with new OEM headlights, or different headlights from a different manufacturer. Who makes the aftermarket housing you bought? Its OK...spill it!
@@InJasonsGarage thank you for replying. The brand i believe is called SpecD. A brand that im now realizing is not a very reliable aftermarket one. At least for headlights. But I've thought of getting new oem headlights and getting a retrofit done with morimoto bi-led projectors, as i do want the improved visibility of a projector over the oem one. Just the extra cost to do so might take me a while to get there. So i might try, for the time being, using hids, unless you think that will give the same result as the leds. If so, im just going to switch them back to the halogen bulbs until i can afford to do the oem with the morimoto retrofit.
@@HossLUK I was thinking of picking up some Spec-D headlight housings for my Colorado, which is currently running the LED lights shown in this video. I know that aftermarket housings can be hit or miss. Have you considered a lower outout LED light that is still higher than stock but how so high that the housing doesn't know how to handle it?
@@InJasonsGarage I've thought about it but i think im still going to go for a retrofit morimoto bi-led 2.0. It fits everything i want in terms of performance and quality. So I'll ask a professional shop near me if they can retrofit it to my aftermarket headlights and if not, or if it ends up costing a lot more than expected, then I'll just get a pair of oem headlights for them to retrofit it to those. The spec d ones look pretty cool, but the performance just isnt there, especially with the high beams. Even with the stock halogens the high beams barley made a difference. I'm thinking that's dude to them choosing to use a small reflector for the highbeam instead of a larger reflector or a projector.
Thanks for the review. Wanted to buy them LED bulbs with 4500k for my projector headlights and they seems to perfect for this. But after shipping costs and import fees it would be around 250$ (even with the discount right now) to get them to Germany. Thats a bit to much, considering not be sure, if they work as wanted.
Hello, please send us an inquiry ticket on the following link:ddmtuning.com/support/index.php?/Tickets/Submit We can look for a cheaper shipping option for you! Sincerely, DDM Tuning
A fair request but I don't typically do road tests in my lighting test videos for a couple of reasons. First, consistently replicating the same environment on the road is difficult and can make a light look brighter or darker (more effective) depending on if there is a full moon, etc. Second, everyone's vision is different and some might have better or worse visibility or light sensitivity. This is why I do my tests in a controlled environment with a lux meter. That way, the data tells the story and there's no error due to human interpretation using the naked eye.
Hello Jason, terrific review once again! A few things to note though. Speaking of pricing (4:56) why not buy the SV-4 from Headlight Revolution (old news I know, but one of the best performing bulbs I've seen on the market) for a similar price and something like the Katana or Nineo bulbs on Amazon (SV-4 clones but 3 times cheaper) and compare them to each other or even against DDM. The reason I'm saying this is the SV-4 has the smallest chip of any LED bulb I've ever seen (except the 2Stroke 3.0 probably) which allows it to produce the tightest most accurate beam pattern, especially in a reflector. The DDM bulbs, however, have a chip at least 2 times wider than halogen which explains the more scattered beam in the reflector assembly. Lastly, whenever you do an LED (and/or HID) bulb shootout it would be nice to see bulb performance ratings (lux/temperature after X amount of time, color temp., etc.) put together in a chart for a more direct comparison. Maybe have a leaderboard with the best performing bulbs?
When you compare the price point of the SV-4 and the Accu/V2, the V2 out performs the SV-4 by a substantial margin and both of them cost about the same. I think a more fair comparison would be the SV-4 and the DDM Pro Fit 40w, very similar output on both these bulbs, but even then the Pro fit seemingly edges out the SV-4 because the price point is significantly lower than the SV-4. Overall, DDM product outperforms a lot of the big LED headlight brands and are consumer friendly with their pricing structure.
@@DynamoIvan Source? Have you tested them side by side yourself (and I mean real world light output, not wattage/lumen box ratings)? If so, what numbers have you come up with to support your claim? The reason I asked Jason to do it is because his tests yield relatively consistent results short of a full blown science lab.
@@contagiousingenuityagency5273 Hello, we've done tests in our lab. But you have a good idea that maybe we can check with Jason to see if he is able to do a comparison test between our kits and the SV-4 kit.
They are pretty powerful and they may be _too_ bright for your housings. Have you tried the V1 or the 50w version? It might be a good idea...check the 8:45 mark of this video.
@@InJasonsGarage i mean im not going to downgrade lol. how come the lux on your tests for these is lower than on the other headlights on your older videos? i noticed the overall garage lights were turned on in those videos, and this one they are off and its dark. would that really make over a 400 lux diff from the extra ambient light?
@@PhaseSkater It wouldn't be a downgrade. If it is too bright for the design of your housing and is scattering it, putting it where you cannot use it...and blinding oncoming drivers...it is not working. You can have the brightest headlights in the world but if it isn't focused where it needs to be, it is useless. You may want to try something else, and you might find that you can actually see better and safer for you as well as other drivers. Brightness isn't everything. Focus is more important. In my early videos, the ambient light was around 10 lux...not much. But again, brightness isn't everything. :) I take into consideration materials, warranty, company reputation, etc....and if course, FOCUS...which is why I started paying more attention to projector cutoff and introducing reflector testing.
@@InJasonsGarage well aren’t the saber pro v2s the best focused lights for projects? I mean it definitely sends and focuses light really far out. I measured almost 2 miles in the empty desert to illuminate a road sign. 2 miles!!!!
@@PhaseSkater Yup, it performed very well in my generic tests. 2 miles is pretty impressive, but it doesn't mean it focuses 100% of the light where it needs to. If your headlights are aimed correctly, yet people are still flashing you, something may not be right.
How about testing the new multi sided CSP LED bulb models ? There's literally dozens on Amazon for sale and guys are getting visibly better beam patterns and brightness.
@@InJasonsGarage but his results weren’t as impressive as this tester. Results spoke for themselves. Somebody has to verify the truth. ua-cam.com/video/8MHddXukI50/v-deo.html
Because more LEDs doesn't equal more performance. It just scatters more foreground light and kills the distance it can and should illuminate, where you need your headlights to work effectively and safely.
You might want to see where I continued doing my LED light reviews, over at :www.carlightreviews.com. Check out the spreadsheet that shows all of my recent test data...and have a look at ua-cam.com/video/RDK0-RQDW9I/v-deo.html
Great video! Are these compatible with DRLs? Curious if there are other options besides the Morimoto 2stroke 3.0s, preferably in 4500K. Edit: Bulbfacts say they don't work with DRLs. Still looking for other DRL compatible options in 9006 that don't flicker.
Are you talking about the DRLs that are not as bright as regular nighttime headlight use? There's not too many on the market that I have seen that are in 4500k color, and it seems like there should based on the comments I have seen.
Awesome video, thank you! This video was definitely one of the deciding factors in me buying these lights. Now that I have them in the housings they don't seem as bright as they should be, and I'm wondering if it's the housing/reflector itself. In your opinion should these be keeping up with the factory LEDs on newer vehicles, such as the jewel eyes on Acura? Mine don't even come close, it actually seems like some halogens are brighter. I just replaced my housings because the reflectors we're delaminated. It definitely helped but they still seem dim.
What housings are you using? They may to too powerful for the design of them and can't handle the output. I haven't tested any OEM LED headlight housing units yet, but in my opinion, modifying the light source in a housing that is designed for a halogen light source will not likely be able to compete with an OEM LED headlight. The reason for this is the OEM companies have standards that take a *_tremendous_* amount of money (millions of dollars for one headlight design) in engineering and testing to meet. Aftermarket companies do not have to...which is why replacing OEM halogen bulbs with LED upgrades isn't currently legal in the US for on-road use.
@@InJasonsGarage They are the Eagle Eye housings from 1A Auto. It's odd because many halogens will even outperform these. I realize expecting better performance than say, the Jewel Eye setup on newer Acura vehicles is a stretch, however, I was hoping to at least outperform other projector based headlamps, especially halogens. I'm thinking the first step would be to pick up a digital illuminance meter, so as to have a benchmark for comparison. The housings on this particular vehicle are known to have delamination issues, and I did notice quite a bit of dust on the inside of the projector glass the first time I fired these up.
@Markus Steel The projector flaking will definitely result in degradation of the light output. And sure, pick up a basic lux meter and do a simple test, you can grab the one I use in the description of this video and see what the results are. I will say this, it is NOT the DDM units unless they are defective. It is more than likely the headlight housing.
@@InJasonsGarage I emailed the company I bought the housings and told them about the moisture getting inside the housing and the light output, they are sending me a new set under warranty. I ordered the Dr meter illuminance meter too. So I'll get a before and after reading (current housing and new) from 20ft. Is the projector you used for your testing pretty standard?
@@MClass2011 Good news. Let me know if the replacements perform better, I am very curious. In this video, I just used a generic H11 fog light, but in my new tests, I use an OEM Toyota Camry projector. Check out the new vid at ua-cam.com/video/S-yZfnr1BT4/v-deo.html
Hi Jason, I saw the projector test results on this headlight is way lower than other led lights that being tested in your new car light review channel. Was there any difference on the testing rig? If yes, would you consider making an updated version of this video on comparing if it still stands out at the end of 2022? P.S. I bought a D1S version, not arrived, but a bit worried it will only perform as good as stock HID lights
Yup, big difference in the testing rig. In this video, I used a generic H11 fog light projector. In the new CarLightReviews channel, I use an H11 projector from a Toyota Camry. Why? They do not and I know this for sure because I have been running these in my 2020 Colorado since I made this video. Have a look at this: ua-cam.com/video/uwUIePSEUco/v-deo.html
I installed this led v2 on my jeep, noticed left side is brighter than right side bulb? The left beam pattern is very visible, any recommendations I should do, note: both led's pointed at 3 and 9 position.
Swap them and see if the left is still brighter than the right. If so, it is your vehicle but if not, the bulb may be bad and I'd definitely contact DDM.
I did the Morimoto 2 Stroke 3.0 here: https //ua-cam.com/video/0N9419LxeIU/v-deo.html Check it out! I will be doing a review on the GTR Ultra 2 _SOON_ on carlightrevirews.com. However, I did start using a different projector housing recently, so it won't be an apples to apples comparison. I'll need to go back and retest older videos with the new projector to see how they compare accurately.
Is beam pattern really usable on road with reflector housing? Been deciding between this Saber V2 and 2 stroke 3.0. (H4 bulb btw) Any recommendation? Thanks.
I've had requests to test lower color temperature lights. The problem is, not many companies make them. Do you have a brand in mind that makes 4500k lights that you'd like me to look into?
Hard to say as I haven't tested your light. It wouldn't exactly be an apples-to-apples comparison as they are different technologies. Do you think I should start testing HIDs?
what causes headlight LEDs to go on & off in car's . My right headlights are always on but the left side goes on & off every half hour or so. I changed the bulbs and still the same thing. what is going on??? I have a 2004 Volvo non-turbo. is this a true 55W or a 55W "equivalent"???
Sounds like you have a short circuit somewhere, you will need to do some wire tracing or take it to an automotive electrical service shop. Going through my testing notes, I measure the wattage at 44.2 each.
I did a review and lux test on them on my other channel www.youtube.com/@CarLightReviews: ua-cam.com/video/m6YYiKX2gCY/v-deo.html Have a look and tell me your thoughts.
For brake lights? Not a bad idea. I need to do a follow up on my previous brake light tests, like this one: ua-cam.com/video/rK9j6GcmXUc/v-deo.html ...and I happen to have some VLEDS lights on my shelf to test. When I do them, they will be on my new channel... www.carlightreviws.com. Check it out!!
Correct. As long as you get the correct size to replace your OEM halogen, aim your headlights after installation, and follow any local laws as you see fit, you should be all set.
If you are upgrading projector housings you want the LED chips to be in the 9 and 3 o'clock position. Most lights have the connector coming out of an edge of the back of the fan housing (and not coming out of the center) and are designed to have the connector pointing straight down in this position. For a reflector housing, look at how the reflector is designed. You should see edges built into the reflector bowl. You want to align the LED chips to fire perpendicular to those edges. Most are vertical, so like projector housings, you want the LED chips to be in the 9 and 3 o'clock position. However, a small percentage of OEM reflector designs have those edges on an angle. If that is the case, you want to adjust the LED chips to shine perpendicular to those edges for proper alignment.
@@CarLightReviews thanks for the comment, I’ll check them out. I have these on a 1995 dodge Ram 2500 with projector housings but their not as bright. I installed them 9-3

@@InJasonsGarage I'd say all of the above. I like the idea of a lifetime warranty as the Benebolt LED's I had only lasted 14 months before the first bulb quite. I still have the Benebolts as my high beam so need new low beams. Headlight Revolution really liked the GTRs on their Canyon video, but then I see bulbfacts recommends the new DDM ProX V2 55w for all projector bulbs.

Hello! I’d really appreciate a road test, that would be awesome. Thanks for the review!
I think a more fair comparison would be the SV-4 and the DDM Pro Fit 40w, very similar output on both these bulbs, but even then the Pro fit seemingly edges out the SV-4
because the price point is significantly lower than the SV-4.

What light scatter?
Curious if you have done a side by side comparison of the Saber ProX 55W Accu/V2 vs the 2 stroke 3.0.
Not in the same video, I did test the Morimoto 2 Stroke 3.0 here: ua-cam.com/video/0N9419LxeIU/v-deo.html
these lights are so bright than even in a low hyundai with projector lights and angled down, i still get flashed every now and then lol
Are you referring to the style in this video? ua-cam.com/video/nnD_sDWNjEw/v-deo.html
Hey Jason! Is that the brightest led bulb on a reflector housing? Or do you know any other bulbs that are brighter ?
You might want to see where I continued doing my LED light reviews, over at :www.carlightreviews.com. Check out the spreadsheet that shows all of my recent test data...and have a look at ua-cam.com/video/RDK0-RQDW9I/v-deo.html
Hi. What's the actual Kelvin when you did the test ? I know it says 6000k but sometimes if not all the times the Kelvin is off.
Bulb Facts tested the Kelvin at 5650.

So these would just be a drop in replacement for halogens, no special conversion kit or anything?
Correct. As long as you get the correct size to replace your OEM halogen, aim your headlights after installation, and follow any local laws as you see fit, you should be all set.
@@InJasonsGarage Thank you
How are these installed vertically diodides or or horizontally
