I imagine this song as being from the perspective of a British woman living in Ireland who fell in love with an Irish man, who was being sent to join the British military as a soldier. They made a plan to run away, to elope (hence “go to the door and fly with me”) and get out of the country/to a different part of the country.
The first two English verses are her acting like she’s going to use the money she’s making to buy what he needs for his military service.
The choruses in Irish and the last English Verse reveal her real intentions and their plan.

That one is a 3 part version whereas this one is a 5 part version. That's why it sounds like parts are missing. Also that one is a nightcored version of a live performance.
