When I was a very wee one, banging on my little toy piano, my dear grandmother would tell me how wonderfully I played and that i “sounded just like Liberace.” Didn’t know who he was until I was older, but I could tell from her voice it was something very good 😊
Yeah, not every pianist needed to wave their hands around their head! I mean, there is "showmanship" and there is useless buggering about. Batting the air above the shoulders while playing the piano is the latter. And am I the only one that finds Liberace's fixed smile deeply creepy...? (makes my flash crawl.)
effyleven Not every pianist would think about waving their hands in the air because they’re too busy concentrating and would go out of time and yes you are the only one who thinks his smile is creepy, sounds like you’re envious of Liberace and just trying to put him down, you’ll be happier if you go with it and relax, it’s entertainment 🧛♂️👍
GEORGE WINSTON definitely took his place and has been entertaining for decades exactly for what people need for our era with more beauty and serenity. Liberace in the beginning was classical and then entertained with rock ‘n’ roll but he had served his lifetime in the styles that existed. I grew up listening and watching Liberace. I did love how he was flashy and flamboyant but that was great for that part of history.
I made my Grandma play Alley Cat for me on her piano every time I visited her, she was great. I used to bring a small bottle of Dark Rum and after a drink or two Grandma even got better.
Back in the 70s my gym teacher used to make us dance to this song. But his record player was broken so he had to move it with his finger. So it’s nice to hear how this song is supposed to sound.
Yes. He is, of course, retired, but is still in full swing. His music is of caurse very know in Denmark. He did also make the music for the Norwigan movie: The Pinchcliffe Grand Prix which is quite known
Liberace didn't use sheet music in his performances. I can't read music but 2 notes into this tune and I remembered it. The difference between Liberace and me...he can make his piano talk, I can remember tunes. I wish I could play something, even a fraction as well as he played his piano. He was a master musician and master showman, there will never be anyone like him.
Why do Liberace fans constantly repeat this amazing feat that he played without music? The only solo performers who play with music are young people who are inexperienced performers and use it as a crutch. There is nothing remarkable about any person memorising a piece of music. There is nothing remarkable about a person memorising dozens or even hundreds of pieces. The other day I played a piece that I haven't played in over thirty years and my fingers still remembered it. Does that make me some kind of savant? Of course not.
If you want to hear a "full orchestra" coming out of a piano, then search UA-cam for 'Peter Bence.' Recommended: "Bad" by Michael Jackson, "Africa" by Toto, and his version of "Despacito" is good too. Also, Queen covers, all with a brilliance and creativity that will blow your socks off. Peter Bence makes Liberace look like an amateur... and I know, I AM an amateur!
Thanks biggest fan ! I must be Vladsu's second biggest fan since you got your own Liberace website to enjoy . I love Alley Cat , still can't play it worth spit though.
Yeah, I’ve got a glitter coat, that is, should slugs provide…. But how do you stop?, Admittedly, super fine ladies., …from knocking on your door, insisting to dance for your conscious entityness???!!! that’s a real problem somewhere somehow I’m sure the solution is worth money if you’re a some kind of capitalist… Back to the show… bop bop bop bop do doo-wop beep dadoowohp beep…..etc….
he made playing the piano so easy, what an entertainer he was. may he, rest in peace.

Nobody played piano like Liberace did, before or after. Extraordinary.

@@1953mazda I guarantee you that he knew an awful lot more than 154 pieces. I would presume that in his long career he performed many more than that.
@@garethharrison5797what a grump you are. You jealous?
Totally Awesome

The world knows now, that Bent Fabricius Bjerre (Bent Fabric) wrote this. And played it better of course....
just playback
Gives me anxiety, it's so bad 😖
This is the first time I have ever heard Liberace play on a piano so badly out of tune.
