Thanks for putting this up. Our family has the fondest memories of our grandparents teaching us this, the Heel and Toe Polka, and the Amos Moses when we were kids.
This is a definitive version of the footwork for the Original Alley Cat dance steps done to music of the same name by Bent Fabric. Joyce Chen has a You Tube video that adds arm work that is optional. NOte that there are many country line dance videos that are also called Alley Cat but the dance is very different and done to country music. The reason you can't find a voice over version is that this was done at an event where a DJ was saying the dance steps over the music on a mic.
I looked all over for this dance. This same dance we had to do in my Musical Theater class. We had to dance slow then fast and if we messed up we where out. I was 3rd place. Ah, the good days.
So happy to find this to teach to my grandchildren - they will think I am hysterical! Wait until I speed it up for them the way we used to dance - faster and faster until most of the dancers were tripping themselves.
Im not sure what either of you are talking about " the real one " ?? The only real one is the one by Bent Fabric which is the one and only original, being his tune and first released in 1960.

Yup! This is the one I remember doing at Italian weddings when I was a kid!

I agree. This is definitive. At least, it's the same version I learned as a kid in the 70's. It took me some time to find. Thanks for posting.

Hey baybay
Why aren't their "paws" up? It barely resembles a cat without the "paws."
