Hugh Foley had arrived in lahinch in high confidence after picking up the north of Ireland title a week earlier and after some strong performances in the match play rounds a final awaited against Peter O’Keeffe who was trending in the right direction and came through some tough matches en route to the final a good match was sure to follow with these two top amateurs.
