I own an old Victorian house built in the 1890’s. Metal detected my Yard today (I also live in WV). I dug up a completely clear (greenish blue) marble. No design, but transparent. It was obviously a child’s favorite because it has impact strikes all over it. No idea what year it could be though. I pulled out a spoon from 1910 less than a foot from it too.

    • @squeakD

I was wondering how Master gets the same rolled up caterpillar look to the consistency? It’s must be in the way the liquid glass pours into the machine or is it the design of the marble machine itself that creates the pattern? In my glass studio I would twist up a cane really tight then bend the top over to touch the bottom and melt round. No way a machine doing that tho. Hmmm...??? Any insight?

Hi John, I’m not sure but marble shows are the best places to buy vintage marbles. There’s a few annual shows in California and Las Vegas. Otherwise antique shops or even eBay would be your best bets.

this was posted a while ago, but may i ask, how do you pronounce your name? like Steven or Stefan? my name is Stefan and im working on my own marble collection, so my friends joke this is me in the future, so it would be even more of a coincidence if we had the same name but spelled different

Cool Bitbye ! My grandmother named me with the Stefan pronunciation, but my parents used Steven, so the Steven pronunciation stuck for the most part.

sorry, for me they look the same... ive seen big plastic boxes (maybe around 10 kg) filled with very old marbles. i wanted to find some uniqe looking ones but i gave up. its quite common to see them in thrift stores in netherlands like "RataPlan". one thing i can say they look very similar to what you show on this video.
