Hello Ben, Héctor from Paraguay here. I want to let you know that I passed the C1 exam last May with an overall score of 198, which is almost a C2 level. I scored C2 in Use of English (209) and Listening (202), and I credit your videos as part of my success. Your videos played an instrumental role in helping me achieve this. I can say with certainty that the effort you put into creating your videos has had a significant impact on many of us, from those who are just starting to learn English to those who want to master the intricacies of the language. My English learning journey began in 2018, and while my main goals remain the same, learning English has also helped me understand how different cultures express their ideas and opinions. Learning a new language is not just about using different words and sounds; it goes much deeper than that. The more you delve into it, the more you start to perceive things from a different perspective, which in turn fosters tolerance - something we need more than ever before. I am taking a break now, not from English, but from preparing for English language exams. However, I hope to return soon to prepare for the C2 level and that you will continue your excellent work because I will surely need it in the future. Thank you.
Hi Hector. Congratulations on passing the C1 Advanced exam with such impressive scores! Great achievement 👏 I'm so glad my videos helped a little. Thanks for taking the time to send your message. All the best Ben
I have my C1 exam within five days. I'm not going to lie, I already feel quite nervous. Nevertheless, I feel confident and I think that I'll pass the exam. Your videos helped me out a ton, so thank you!
@@user-sy5bn8ll6k Well, the Reading and Use of English was not bad, I think I did it as always. The Writing was pretty good, but the Listening part 3 and 4 were much more difficult than I had practised before. Overall I think I'll pass, but I'm not sure if I will do it with grade A
Hi Ben just to say that thanks to your training I passed c2 proficiency, I could have done better but I did it so thanks again for your help and I'll keep on training and watching your videos and advice

Hi Ben. 5 of these words (caveat, crux, flux, usurp and vex) sound familiar in Italian because they come straight from latin 😊 But....while I agree with the english pronunciation of crux, flux, vex and usurp, I think caveat should mantain the latin/italian pronunciation, with the "e" like in "men". By the way, caveat is the subjunctive mood, third person singular, of the latin verb caveo caves cavi cautum cavere, in the sense of " be careful of "...used here as a noun. Cave canem! 😉
Just got my results. 199 points and i could not have done it without you (and Smash English). Thank you so much!!! This one point to C2 hurts a lot though.
Good God, Ben the crux of the problem. is over when students keep on pursuing your Channel when myriads of English traps are surmounted in a trice It is by overcoming these difficulties that students swim in the zenith of their success in English C2 level
Thank you very much for the video! I have a quick question. Please, are these words are considered to be more like in British English? Or they are appropriate for American English too? Thank you!
Hello, Ben, I have a doubt. Isn't, recommend followed by subjucntive? Could It be possible to say It is recommended they be handed? Thank you in advanced
Watch your grammar professor. In order to curb smartphone use in class, it is recommended that they BE handed to the teacher. in most statements where there is a condition that is contrary to fact any subsequent recommendation should take the subjunctive form. For example "It is important that she not be late for her job interview tomorrow". To be sure, you don't need to use the subjunctive form in order to be understood,. Most native Speakers of English most likely won't use it, but some English teachers might be more judgmental if you fail to use it. I am not an English teacher..

Hi Ben, you are really doing a good job by helping my students uave extra exercises online. Thank you so much.
You're welcome! Happy to help 🙂
It vexes me greatly, that I hardly can keep all those words in mind. The second meaning of apt seems to be similar to "prone to".
In the example you said,Instead of saying the zenith ,can we use the Word "climax"?

Both forms are possible. The subjunctive is used more in American English

I’ve got a question, could we say: there are a myriad of, or should we say: there is a myriad of. Thanks 😊
I had myriad emails but the crux of the situation is that none of them was an invite for a holiday trip. That really vexed me 😂
Can one say "let's get back to the crux" (after we've digressed, an equivalent of the French "revenons à nos moutons")?
Yes, but we'd usually add "of the matter/argument/issue"
Eg. "Let's get back to the crux of the matter"
@@tothepointenglishwithben. Thank you
I understand English well when listening or reding but I stuck a lot when speaking found it so hard so that I feel too upset.😢😢
The only way to improve your speaking is to practise more. And be patient... Rome wasn't built in a day!
Why to be handed not handled to the teacher?
It seems to me, the very last one is used only by roadmen in the UK 😂
