- Another day in paradise brings with it some new projects to keep Sammy and Jim busy!
The Museum recently acquired 5 new Italian sports and exotic racing bikes from the 50s and 60s.
A Rumi Collection of 4 bikes:
1955 Moto Rumi Turismo
1954 Moto Rumi Super Sports
1961 Moto Rumi Junior Gentlemen
1963 Four Cylinder 250cc Rumi
As well as a 1954 160cc Overhead Valve Super Sport Maserati!
Maserati only made motorcycles in 1954-55, making this model very sought after.

I have a Maserati T2 50 SS fully lightened for racing. It dates from 1958, the whole thing weighs about 40 kg. I am having a new gear cluster made, the engine had been stripped and the parts put in boxes, the one with the gear clusters in got water in it and ruined two of the gears. It has to be made as one part and then hardened, not a cheap job. They made 4 versions - the U model for men, the D model for women and then the ss model, which had a very different light weight tubular frame. They then made a very small number of lightened ss models - this is the model I have. Just about everything is drilled, it's a real piece of art. It's not known how many racing ones were made but it's believed that there were less than 100 of all variants made.

My young lady ..an artist not a motorcycle fan and I went to a motorcycle show ...and she suddenly stopped and pointed to the Moto Rumis she said they are so beautifully designed they must have been designed by an artist ....I said nothing ...then I checked and hey gusto ...as Sammy says ...They were Derby an artist ...😂😊
