We continue the story of the Reconquista! Isabella's childhood was an existence in threat! I hope you enjoy the show - please don't forget to share on social media!
King Henry IV's story is... shockingly mirrors England's King Edward II... the close friendship with a favored man and the whole rest of it with angry noblemen, backtracking and bullheaded goals. It's insane.
Just FYI, I was able to combine your discount code with the current 4th of July sale and get a 5sf plot for less than normal 1sf price. The effective "FPHISTORY" discount was $4.20 😜
It's a scam.
@@Pyxis10 Yeah I realize that now - I already removed this ad from another one of my videos today
By far, the most important Queen in Europe History.
I love Europe History
This is an incredible story. I had no idea the rich history surrounding Isabella. Looking forward to future episodes in this series. Keep up the great work!
More to come! Wait till you she how she gets herself out of this mess
I'm loving these new maps. It's insane how far your videos have come along since the early days of this channel. I remember subscribing around 12k subscribers or so. Now we're almost at 140k! What a journey. You must be so proud. I know that the subscribers you've managed to gain over the years on UA-cam are certainly proud and happy to be part of the community you've created. Congrats on the video. Your success is well earned.
Thanks a ton Bear! Yeah the community engagement is one of the things I find so rewarding about this journey into YT. Alway s happy to see your comments and those two bears in your avatar
@@FlashPointHx Too much court drama, more difficult to prove, especially to various rumor's and authors biases. Not of course that I already detest soap operas.😴 although still interesting.
What a great and interesting story. History like this is something that should be made into a TV series.
I agree - this story is really epic
@@alxces contrarily the stereotype in the US is that Spanish people are all dark haired, dark eyed, and swarthy. There is no acceptance of the germanic visigothic origins of the northern kingdoms. They would cast a bunch of latino looking characters to playnthe roles like Maria Doyle Kennedy was used as Katherine of Aragorn in The Tudors when we know that KoA was red headed.
The bigger reason to not want to see it is that it will almost certainly either depict Isabel and the reconquists as unjustified and evil OR be heavily criticized and panned and banned to a 3rd rate channel.
ETA that in Spanish Princess they REALLY go to great lengths to trash this family.
At least we have 2 seasons of El Cid so far.
there is a series by tve about her. three wonderful seasons
Ohhhh, I hadn't realized she was that same Isabella that was among those Edward decided he'd rather keep fighting the War of the Roses rather then marry... :D
Right?
That is so crazy
it's an interesting point that marrying into the house of Castile
would strangely bring Yorkist Edward IV s claim up higher
as the House of Castile was related to Lancasters...
but it has always been my belief that the Yorkists were way ahead of Lancasters
as Edward IV grandmother Anne Mortimer was descended from Lionel,
the TRUE YORK CLAIM came from their relation to Anne Mortimer
who had the strongest claim.
Lionel, House of Clarence was brother #2
John of Gaunt, Lancaster, brother #3
Edmund , York, brother #4
people do not discuss House of Clarence and Lionel, very much
because he died age 30-32
before he could produce a male heir
died somewhat freakishly suddenly at his wedding in Italy
and his descendants lost his title Duke of Clarence
somewhat disgracefully because he had no male heirs ...
Anne Mortimer, is descended from Lionel's only child daughter Philippa
and that is why Edward IV really should have won War of the Roses.
and Henry Tudor could never have successfully succeeded the Yorkists without marriage to Elizabeth of York,
Edward s daughter
who is also descendant of both Lionel, second son to King Edward III,
but of the last Welsh kings,
which according to legends which both english and welsh believed,
makes one the true heir
I've looked for content on Muslim Spain, the reconquista, and the surrounding topics in the past and your content is by far the most accessible, informative, and enjoyable that I've ever seen. Thank you for making these videos
You are so welcome - love the picture of Louis IX btw in your avatar - went to that museum in Forrest Park SOO many times. Awesome place to go sledding too.
@@FlashPointHx I have fond memories of sledding there as a child too! It's called Art Hill. That's awesome that you've been

You know it's going to be a good day when a new FPH video about the Reconquista drops!
Thank you!
for sure
The quality of the videos are magnificent, such an honor that you post this for free on UA-cam
Its truly a labor of love
Finally that episode has come ,, i was waiting for it for nearly 1 month ... Thank you sir
Most welcome! More to come !
Absolutely amazing! I have been waiting for the "Return of the Queen" for so long!
Thats actually a REALLY great title for part 3 or 4 - Thanks!
@@FlashPointHx Also: "The two princesses" if we go with LOTR analogies!
I love that title!
15:00-15:04
Am I the only one who got Cleopatra vibes?
The accompanying artwork combined with the narration was fantastic, got a real feel for Isabella's life and the precarious position she found herself in. Imagine being in your mid teens, being almost the sole cause of a civil war, failing to get married thrice, making a potential enemy of one brother and finding the other dead in his sleep, and to top it off now having an elephant sized target painted on your back. A lesser (wo)man would've cracked under the immense pressure and decided to take the easy way out.
Wow, Darth, you nailed this episode in a paragraph. Happy that you liked it so much - yeah definitely Cleo in that sitting position
My guy, I’ve been waiting for this part of the story since 2020 😂. Around that same time I watched the Spanish show ‘Isabel’ from 2012, so I’m fairly familiar with the story now. Very interesting to hear it being played out from a historian’s perspective now.
I think I need to find and watch these shows
This story is getting better n better
A new chapter of a youtube series for the ages.
Thank you so much!!!
You're very welcome!
Absolutely sure! You can easily sell ice in the North Pole and coal in Newcastle😅
Thanks again for another well presented and widely scanned episode of History!

Perfect timing! I'm currently watching this video in Cordoba. Though, I feel as though I could be watching it in a desert and still feel as if I'm in Spain with these incredible illustrations and maps.
Wow! Thats way up there on my Bucket list. You've already seen the ruins of Abd Al Rahman III, I believe
@@FlashPointHxgood memory brother. I came back to get some Salmorejo and see La Mezquita. There's so much to see here that even after living in Spain for 4 years, I still have a bit more to see. If you get the chance, I'd highly recommend visiting Cordoba, Sevilla, Granada, Segovia, and Cadiz.
mosque of cordoba, gorgeous
How to describe this episode...
Just.. Awesome❤️💖💝
So glad you are back on the reconquista 💛😎
I waited patiently, and it's paying off. Cheers and thx good Sir😇🍻
Ps love the music🎧🎶👍
Thank you so much 😀 Its hard to find just the right kind of flamenco music for this series - but happy that you liked it Angel
The Best from the Best ! This seems like the work of these artists that get forgotten for a while and suddenly something happens and that sparks make these arts into instant classics.
a True masterpiece in the making.
Seems like people like the compilation videos that are created at the end. I'll do the same here as well.
Nitin, you are one hell of a story teller. Just thought I would let you know. The whole War of the Worlds series is very well done. Bravo.
Appreciate that Doyle!

ha! I think you're the only one who has commented on this
If you thought you were buying a real peerage rather than a cutesy novelty gift with that Established Titles thing, that's your problem.
So so fantastic! As I listen to your description of Isabella, it strikes me that her MBTI was probably INTJ: the mastermind.
I have never so much looked forward to a series! Bravo and keep it up!
That analysis would not be far off. Wait till the next part - it really brings that thought process home.
Ooh this was sooo great, I've really been looking forward to this as part of your amazing series!
Yay, thank you!
fantastic video. great work, and of course, the story is superbly told
Awesome, thank you!
Waiting for this podcast since I watched last Reconquista video, thanks a lot
Hope you enjoyed it!
I have the greatest admiration for Queen Isabella. Thank you my Queen for free us from those slamic invaders
If anyone could convince me to purchase a title in Scotland, it'd be you. Grats! 🤘😜
hahaha! Yer a Lord!
At 9:00 I was thinking, what's that quote from? Shakespeare? Hemingway?
Nope. Lucas, haha. These are not the royal offspring you're looking for.
hahaha - I think you are the only one to catch on to that Ref.
This deserves way more views. Your videos on the Conquista and Reconquista is unmatched. Going to share with a friend that I believe would love this.
Appreciate that - I hope your friend likes this video
fun fact, at 18:12 into the video, that "lowly widow" Edward IV married is actually my 13th Great-grandmother Elizabeth Woodville & the guy who died to make her a widow, Sir John Grey, is my 13th Great-Grandfather haha
Wow - can't believe you can track your heritage back that far!
Maury of Castile be like:
"Enrique... you are NOT the father".
I should have done that in Darth Vader style
Your introduction was hilarious 😂
The show itself again a joy to watch!
Thank you so much 😁 You mean in the intro ad?
thank you for a wonderful video
and not only amazing visuals but talking at a good pace,
not so crazy fast like some vids
Glad you liked it!

Your map skills just keep getting better and better! Also, that intro was awesome!
Hey thanks Sam! Btw was watching LOTR with my boy when I was making this vid

I think it’s Alvaro de Luna
Thanks for the great video I really appreciate the effort with the alhambra etc!

I highly recommend the biography Isabella The Warrior Queen if you want to know more about this powerful woman that had such an immense impact on European history.
I’ve been quoting that book the entire time bro
This is fantastic content! Thank you for the dedication and hard work you put into these videos.

Great stuff as usual. Thanks alot, I realy enjoy these. I feel I keep on repeating myself, but the music this series has is top notch.
It takes me awhile to find the right music - I listen to potential pieces when I go for my runs
The artwork in this video was great.
Appreciate it! Yeah Diogo is a talented artist
Great intro music, I like to think I had some input on this video after he liked and responded to my comment on his other Reconquista compilation video. I'm probably just crazy though. Awesome content and storytelling. You make it interesting and understandable. Thanks for your work.
Appreciate it!
Be careful with placing cities in the map. Segovia seems to be in the actual place of Avila. Segovia is further north east from Avila. Thanks.
I love these videos and want to see more! I learn a lot from you! ( typed by my 13 year old nonverbal, autistic son who looks forward to your videos!)
Kat - I had to share this with my wife who is an occupational therapist with extensive experience in pediatrics. She and I were both honored that your son loves the videos - More to come soon!
im sorry but.... that thing wannabe a lord is the most peasant thing ever !! 😂
Brilliant. I cannot wait for the continuation.
Thanks - next part is already in the works
Bravo great cliffhanger!
She was literally sitting on a cliff =)
awe man what a cliffhanger! Come on part 3!
Awesome as usual!!! Could I recommend that you put all the Reconquista videos together in one Playlist or just one master video?? I would love to have the whole 700 year sequence play from start to finish. Keep up the great work 👍 🥰
Not a bad idea - I'll start one for Isabella today
@@FlashPointHx ok great! 😊
No thanks, I have a hundred thousand square feet of virgin East Texas soil, which is priceless.
Better than west Texas - old Comanche land. just read a book about them and the Texas Rangers
Fantástico, altíssima qualidade 👏👏👏
Isabella de Castela e Aragão, is a Saint!
Excellent work as usual
Thanks again, Matt!
This video is great but it confuses me as to the point of the first one in the series. A lot of points, in fact most points about Isabella herself, from the first video are repeated here. I'd advise to try to keep chronological, or at least not repeat yourself at such length, makes me wish I just started with this video
It's part of my family history that one of my ancestors was a Portuguese man at arms who was knighted for his courage Due ng Isabella's reign
Oh man I already want to watch the second episode
Been looking forward to this one
Enjoy!!
damn man you left me hanging so hard this shit is some crazy stuff never knew about her succession thank you can't wait for the next one
next one already in production - happy that you liked it so much!
@@FlashPointHx it's very well made had me on the edge of my feet
Well.. it's not Isabella Rosellini. It's ISABEL.
Awesome. I love your focus on Iberian history. Perhaps a future series about the "descobrimentos" could come next, no? Just saying 😅
just like when I play Skyrim. a lot of sidequest but we back to the main!!
hahaha - right? I got so sick of those side quests - little kid comes up and asking for me to find his dog. . .seriously ?
Yes new video it's happening!!!!!!
Boo yeah!
What suspense!!!
Thank you!!
Respectfully, what are your sources for this video specific series? @flashpointhistory

Love the channel. Been watching for a long time, especially the series about the early Islamic conquests. I’m just wondering, will you ever do a face reveal? If not I completely get it, it’s always good to have privacy.
I'm actually thinking of doing a series of travel blogs - A buddy I've travelled extensively with and I are planning to hike the D-Day beaches in Normandy from Cherbourg to Caen - You'll see plenty of my ugly mug ;)

I own land in the US in Arizona. I'll sell you a square foot and you can call your self a rancher. lol
hahahaha - DEAL!
If Isabella would have married either Edward IV or Richard III, maybe Henry Tudor dies at the Battle of Bosworth Field. Maybe with Spanish assistance. Think about a timeline where the Tudor line of kings never happen. The Anglican Church never splits with the Catholic Church. The Spanish Armada never attacks in 1588. Now, that's something
I have played enough ck2 to know that Isabelle could have been an elusive shadow and kill her younger sibling
I've never played that - so she's Got a high rating in political skills?
@@FlashPointHx Means she has high intrigue. Good possibility she might be a master manipulator.
@@gilgamesh6135 From what I'm reading that is spot on - wait for my next episode to see what I'm talking about
👍👍👍
Its not a good video unless it gets the Three Thumbs up from you Henk!
Had Edward the fourth and Isabella married; they would have been A power couple . And I believe Isabella was attracted to Edward.
You made her picture as Cinderella in the cover, poor Ferdinand how could he look at her every day together that smell
Thats Joan of Portugal - she was a materialistic cinderella
can you make a video on how ottoman empire helped protestant christians in europe against catholic europe and how without ottoman empire support protestant reformation would.had not happened? I hope people.in america who are majority protestant christian would start respecting muslims😊😊😊😊
What !.
The Ottoman's enslaved Christians,
even in the 19c they actually carried out slave raids as far north as Iceland!
Even parts of the British isles weren't safe from Ottoman' slaver's!
But as a Christian I do respect Muslims.
@@RhysapGrug if ottoman empire would have been intolerant most of europe would been muslim today
@@RhysapGrug ottomans were 1 bln times.better than spainish
@@hussainashraf5179
The Spanish were one of the worst empire's.
Almost totally eradicated the tribes people of South America and some parts of North America.
Thought the bit off more than they could chew when they decided to invade the British isles with their mighty Spanish Armada'.
The British empire though not perfect by a long way, were the more humane of all colonialist countries,
they ended the slave trade,
treated the Native Indians of Canada all lot better than compared with the USA
, stoped the horrid practice of widow burning' in India,
stood/fought alone against the Nazis and their allies for almost 2 years.
And many other accolades that made them a good empire.
@@RhysapGrug The most tolerant empire in history of the world was ottoman empire that allowed people of all faith to coexits on its territories unlike french and british and even ottoman empire gave refuge to jews and protestant christians when they were getting persecuted by catholic europe.:)
