If you watch the entire interview closely, you can clearly detect the tension between the couple. You can almost feel the negativity and animosity that they feel towards each other. Their love is overshadowed by passive-aggressive comments. They rarely look each other in the eye and smile. I see a marriage in turmoil. It is a known fact that Kate Spade committed suicide soon after her husband filed for divorce. I'm sharing this because I believe that even some of the best personal (and professional) relationships have expiration dates. Some of us hang on to a spouse, lover, or partner because we don't want to be alone or don’t want to be viewed as a "failure." Some of us hang on because we have children. So I ask...Is it worth staying in an unhappy relationship if you're not truly happy? I don't know this couple personally, but I do see the hurt, the anger, the disconnect, and the anguish. And yes, I can even see the depression. I know what depression looks like and how it can affect a marriage, firsthand. The Kate Spade brand was worth billions of dollars. My point is this: Money CANNOT buy happiness and NO ONE can make you happy except YOURSELF. If you depend solely on others to make you happy, you will ultimately be disappointed.
In court parents get asked about the shoesize of the child, the name of the doctor of the child and the name of the teacher…to see, who is the parent who does the daily live with the child. Then they decide who gets custody. Btw see where his feet go to. Bodylanguage
most importantly why does he have ONE red shoelace? ONE red scarf is what ended her life. VERY weird! Then he wore a mask with a red scarf on it days after she died as he walked by reporters outside his home.

Suicide is something that a person who is so depressed or under the influence that they cannot see through the darkness. It is a mental illness, the mind wraps around the obsession that dead is better and less painful than alive ....and it caused by many things . . . drugs, alcohol (like my brother), depression and desperation! She seems like she might be on drugs or tranquilizers. Sorry for her loss...sad - so sad for her legacy & her daughter!
Mary Galinas that is so true. Kate also had bipolar disorder that she kept hiding for a long time because it wasn’t “good for the brand” and it is so sad to see her pass. She will always be an amazing fashion icon and a creative mind. Rest In Peace.
It seems like she was having issues being a parent and launching a new brand. It surprises me that she spoke so poorly of herself when she in fact is a fashion icon and built an empire. You can see from the interview that she had already lost her self confidence. And those passive aggressive comments that she and her husband throw at each other... bad sign. Imo that’s her guilt talking... the amount of guilt you feel as a mom with depression & wanting to check out emotionally is overwhelming. In turn that makes you isolate. She talks so low of herself maybe because those around her made her feel she couldn’t do anything right so why bother trying. We know she was the youngest of 6. Her role may have been the people pleaser role or scapegoat.. we don’t know.

Her daughter was a Teenager. It also shows great level of immaturity and weakness for them not to reprobando their daughter. The daughter acts out (closes a door etc) and they just bury themselves in their works to avoid the communication.
She was quite honest saying that about her daughter. My own child has said the same about me, but I know that deeply she doesn't mean it. Teenagers can be quite harsh sometimes, especially when they are angry. But now we all know Kate Spade had some internal demons to deal with, she felt it was always dark and empty. Hope her soul finds peace now that her loved ones can not turn back time and try to focus on her problem. Gone too soon, RIP dear Kate!

Only those that are familiar with this dynamic knows someone suffering with depression can’t help it yet they desperately want out. They can’t see the light. This is a textbook case of extremely toxic codependency. Kate has low self confidence she hides through passive aggressive tendencies. You can clearly ascertain from her speech patterns and body language, she is medicated in this interview. Her husband is an enabler. He is more focused on business and success, with a hint of narcissism. I would guess he never loved her in the true sense of the word. He loved her gift for design, but that isn’t the basis of a healthy relationship. (Their physical presence tells it all, he looks young/gay/ chic and she portrays fancy Mary Poppins meets office casual, looking much older than him) I also believe there may have been a sexual identity issue on his part. This was not a marriage...it was a dysfunctional business relationship that grew to include a late-in-life child in a last ditch attempt at normalcy. Kate wasn’t able to separate the business from the act of mothering because she didn’t know how. She was stuck between two polar opposite worlds with a ‘husband’ that was merely a corporate brand boss.She was unloved as a human being and unappreciated. Her reaction to 30 years of this torment was vengeance in killing herself...The ultimate ‘sour grapes’. As in, I can’t find love or happiness in my family life, so I am cashing out. The ‘ask daddy’ was the last chess move in a very sad game of deceit and loveless isolation.

I got half through and couldn't take it any more this lovely, talented, and awesome person was being devalued and smothered by her partner. I refuse to call him a husband ( husbands should be loving and supportive), because his comments and actions weren't supportive and loving during this interview. So incredibly sad. Gives a lot of insight why Kate commit suicide. First of his busband mentioned kate spade brand quickly went off and they dont know what happened with it. Next, Frances Valentine which kate herself cant remember the names history, shows that it doesnt interest her. Husband also mentioned kate started not a fashion student which is why everybody is starting their own business today and they are competing with them said kate made a terrible job. And she said her daughter doesn’t think she has done anything in fashion world and would want their interview to be seen by her. I do all the work says the husband, kate laughs sarcastically said that is such a joke. She just repeats his husband words like “im up for the challege” then make face not sure if she really is. She also said “rough” sarcastically as is husband has done nothing or something is rough in the relationship. She also said “although im mad of you for other things. If the interviewer is articulate she can dig deeper on personal matter the couple is giving clues away. Kate said the lesson she learned is to “worry less”.. i really hope she livesup to it, RIP.
There was so much tension in this mother-daughter relationship. You can hear the pain in her voice when describing the struggles. I hope that this little girl does NOT take on the responsibility of her mother’s suicide. That was her mom’s choice. It’s a teen’s job to act out, be confused, push back and try the patience of everyone around them. So mom decides after 9 years to take all of her obsession and “detail” oriented way of being away from her daughter toward design again. (Probably a very healthy decision for the mental health of both). Sadly it didn’t work out.
If she will feel guilty idk. But she will be angry, resentful, horrified, and saddened at the loss of her mother for a looooong time, if not a lifetime
You can tell by their body language they are not happy. Given Kate’s fame, you can imagine the pressure she must have felt if her marriage was crumbling and she wanted out or if he did, and how much she must have worried what people would think, the media. Etc. also she may have sought more help but didn’t due to the same pressure of the media and what if people would find out etc. it is seriously tragic. She just couldn’t stand the pain any longer. Her sister even said in another video that she started drinking a lot and wouldn’t get treatment because she was “worried about her fans”. So sad RIP Kate.
Heartbreaking....... nobody understands unless you've been then there. I've been there, somehow my attempt was just that. God willing! But it's a terrible way to feel. this interview is so sad. why is it so obvious someone is unhappy in retrospect? There's so much tension and passive aggression between them. And her relationship with her daughter sounds like a classic late in life mother thinking she gave birth to her best friend but as her daughter goes through the totally normal teenage rebellion phase she takes it personally rather than being understanding that her daughter is finding herself and growing up.
It came across to me in the interview that the husband was constantly saying, "I do all the work!" and the daughter heard it so many times she parroted it. I don't see any proof that Kate thought her daughter was her best friend. Suicide is something that a person who is so depressed or under the influence that they cannot see through the darkness. It is a mental illness, the mind wraps around the obsession that dead is better and less painful than alive ....and it caused by many things . . . drugs, alcohol (like my brother), depression and desperation! She seems like she might be on drugs or tranquilizers.

It seems like she was having issues being a parent and launching a new brand. It surprises me that she spoke so poorly of herself when she in fact is a fashion icon and built an empire. Imo that’s her guilt talking... the amount of guilt you feel as a mom with depression & wanting to check out emotionally is overwhelming. In turn that makes you isolate. She talks so low of herself maybe because those around her made her feel she couldn’t do anything right so why bother trying. We know she was the youngest of 6. Her role may have been the people pleaser role or scapegoat.. we don’t know.

Her daughter was a Teenager. It also shows great level of immaturity and weakness for them not to reprobando their daughter. The daughter acts out (closes a door etc) and they just bury themselves in their works to avoid the communication.
She was quite honest saying that about her daughter. My own child has said the same about me, but I know that deeply she doesn't mean it. Teenagers can be quite harsh sometimes, especially when they are angry. But now we all know Kate Spade had some internal demons to deal with, she felt it was always dark and empty. Hope her soul finds peace now that her loved ones can not turn back time and try to focus on her problem. Gone too soon, RIP dear Kate!

This is a textbook case of extremely toxic codependency. Kate has low self confidence she hides through passive aggressive tendencies. You can clearly ascertain from her speech patterns and body language, she is medicated in this interview. Her husband is an enabler. He is more focused on business and success, with a hint of narcissism. I would guess he never loved her in the true sense of the word. He loved her gift for design, but that isn’t the basis of a healthy relationship. (Their physical presence tells it all, he looks young/gay/ chic and she portrays fancy Mary Poppins meets office casual, looking much older than him) I also believe there may have been a sexual identity issue on his part. This was not a marriage...it was a dysfunctional business relationship that grew to include a late-in-life child in a last ditch attempt at normalcy. Kate wasn’t able to separate the business from the act of mothering because she didn’t know how. She was stuck between two polar opposite worlds with a ‘husband’ that was merely a corporate brand boss.She was unloved as a human being and unappreciated. Her reaction to 30 years of this torment was vengeance in killing herself...The ultimate ‘sour grapes’. As in, I can’t find love or happiness in my family life, so I am cashing out. The ‘ask daddy’ was the last chess move in a very sad game of deceit and loveless isolation.

I got half through and couldn't take it any more this lovely, talented, and awesome person was being devalued and smothered by her partner. I refuse to call him a husband ( husbands should be loving and supportive), because his comments and actions weren't supportive and loving during this interview. So incredibly sad. There is obvious tension between. He could have kept the belt incident to himself. I hope he grows and a person from her death and become the perfect father to their daughter in keeping her mother's talent and spirit alive for their child. Kate was a true artist. RIP sweet Kate.

Gives a lot of insight why Kate commit suicide. First of his busband mentioned kate spade brand quickly went off and they dont know what happened with it. Next, Frances Valentine which kate herself cant remember the names history, shows that it doesnt interest her. Husband also mentioned kate started not a fashion student which is why everybody is starting their own business today and they are competing with them said kate made a terrible job. And she said her daughter doesn’t think she has done anything in fashion world and would want their interview to be seen by her. I do all the work says the husband, kate laughs sarcastically said that is such a joke. She just repeats his husband words like “im up for the challege” then make face not sure if she really is. She also said “rough” sarcastically as is husband has done nothing or something is rough in the relationship. She also said “although im mad of you for other things. If the interviewer is articulate she can dig deeper on personal matter the couple is giving clues away. Kate said the lesson she learned is to “worry less”.. i really hope she livesup to it, RIP.
There was so much tension in this mother-daughter relationship. You can hear the pain in her voice when describing the struggles. I hope that this little girl does NOT take on the responsibility of her mother’s suicide. That was her mom’s choice. It’s a teen’s job to act out, be confused, push back and try the patience of everyone around them. So mom decides after 9 years to take all of her obsession and “detail” oriented way of being away from her daughter toward design again. (Probably a very healthy decision for the mental health of both). Sadly it didn’t work out.
If she will feel guilty idk. But she will be angry, resentful, horrified, and saddened at the loss of her mother for a looooong time, if not a lifetime
You can tell by their body language they are not happy. Given Kate’s fame, you can imagine the pressure she must have felt if her marriage was crumbling and she wanted out or if he did, and how much she must have worried what people would think, the media. Etc. also she may have sought more help but didn’t due to the same pressure of the media and what if people would find out etc. it is seriously tragic. She just couldn’t stand the pain any longer. Her sister even said in another video that she started drinking a lot and wouldn’t get treatment because she was “worried about her fans”. So sad RIP Kate.

this interview is so sad. why is it so obvious someone is unhappy in retrospect? There's so much tension and passive aggression between them. And her relationship with her daughter sounds like a classic late in life mother thinking she gave birth to her best friend but as her daughter goes through the totally normal teenage rebellion phase she takes it personally rather than being understanding that her daughter is finding herself and growing up.
It came across to me in the interview that the husband was constantly saying, "I do all the work!" and the daughter heard it so many times she parroted it. I don't see any proof that Kate thought her daughter was her best friend. I see a lot of proof that the husband talked shit about Kate in front of their young daughter and their daughter started repeating it.
Kate sold the company to raise her daughter and in a decade it would become a 2 billion dollar business. she missed out on the profits and now her daughter thought she did nothing!
Her daughter is 12. A lot of tweens/teens think their parents don't do anything. Or don't care about their professional successes. It's unfortunate for her as a parent to take it personally especially in a public forum that evidently makes her daughter (again, a 12 year old) look bad.
