I agree with you on the decoder blowing up. Have had some bad luck too kind of wish they still offered paragon 2 because I have had good luck with that.
I don't remember what company made them, but I don't think there are any out there that have the holes pre-drilled. I had to spend like 8 hours with a pin vice to drill out all six of them. Sorry I couldn't help more.
Thank you very much! I try to make my content as interesting as possible (sometimes with more success then others) but I can't post very frequently because of schooling and whatnot. I'm glad you enjoy it!
interesting markers, prr technically never used green markers, rather they used yellow, but still looks interesting! Slat pilot was fitted to some, just simply due to variation. Some locos had their pilots damaged and the shops had only a slat pilot for replacements, so some m1s recieved such modifications. It has nothing to do with passenger or etc
That is correct. The cast pilots were found of the postwar M1b's and K4s's and others. Prewar engines had either the pilot like what my M1a has (just the suicide steps) or a slated pilot (commonly found on prewar K4's). I can't figure out why some M1a's had slated pilot and others (like mine) didn't.
I have had a couple BLI Paragon series engines with QSI and those are honestly the most reliable ones I have. I think (I could be wrong) that the Paragon 2 and 3 decoders are actually made by BLI. That way they don't have any other companies controlling what their engines can do (again I could be wrong). Paragon 3 decoders are the ones that are notorious for destroying themselves and I honestly might do the same thing you did with your if my Paragon 3 Reading T1 blows through its fourth decoder
@@cwhall01 I was told they still use QSI but maybe not. I hope now that Scaletrains is making a steam locomotive and maybe more now that they have the tooling from MTH they'll use ESU or Tsunami.

Looks fresh!!!
What castings did you use for your marker light

Thank you for the info!
I think the solid pilot was post war and the sloted pilot was pre war ,,,,i herd this a couple of years ago from a modeler

@@cwhall01 they probably hit a car or something and threw on a slatted pilot because it was better then the steps
I had 2 of mine die on me and never wanted to fix them so I sold them cheap. Wish they'd get away from QSI.
