If Billy Gibbons made a guitar out of a cigar box and strung it with nylon fishing line, I'd listen to him play it. Seriously, he made pinch harmonics a Thing (capital T) before I remember anybody else doing it and could turn a simple blues scale into a hooky, memorable, aural assault. Legend. Top kept its lineup intact for 50 years. RIP, Dusty.
It's great to hear you giggle and chuckle again during a lesson. Great way to remember Dusty! Could it be you had a Genny Cream Ale made from "sparkling" Hemlock Lake water?? Lol and good luck and health J-Squared!!!
been playin my wolfgang lately but saw this. I love this song and its a great lesson as always brother, now putting away wolfgang and pulling the LP Standard out.
Billy Gibbons is an amazing player. His rhythm parts are almost always simpler than you think. Interesting how rarely he plays even 4 strings on a chord, let alone 5 or 6. Even more so on the early records. The king of implied harmony. Check out the two guitar part on "Brown Sugar" off the first album (right after the intro). One of the best duo parts ever. Fits perfectly rhythmically and harmony wise.
Man, everybody went crazy with the digital reverb/compression/noise gates on the drums back then didn't they? In-the-air-tonight-itis. They were trying to get Ludwig snares to sound like Roland 808. The 80's were weird. Oddly, I like some synth sounds, but really only the ones where they very obviously sound like a synth (like that little thing in Best friend's girl by the Cars).
Great tribute lesson! RIP Dusty 💔🙏❤️
"Upstroke starting with the G string"....well done sir......even gave yourself a chuckle there :)
I liked his sly laugh after it....😁

RIP Dusty. Just started playing with a group of friends. Good song to let folks jam to.
Many thanks for this one. RIP Dusty.
Absolutely love this song. It’s easy but so fun to play.
This shows how ZZ made fresh material with a simple pentatonic box
It's always nice to hear someone do this, and this is a great example of that. "Less is more".
That Little Old Band from Texas has lost One Of the Greats. God Bless Dusty .
Got to love those Texas blues! RIP Dusty !!
One of my favs. We used this and Deep Purple Machine Head to get pumped before taking the field in college football in the mid 70s.
Damn good lesson man you ROCK🤘

Great example of 'smear'.
