Everyone please remember in order for Sean & Jon to continue providing the very best aviation content on UA-cam, we must respect the privacy of the aircraft’s owners and passengers. It’s best for all involved if we don’t comment about individuals, corporations or groups associated with this aircraft. Keep in mind the safety, security & privacy of all involved. It’s a small price to pay for this wonderful UA-cam channel.
One of the reasons I like this channel is that the crew is able to do this by respecting the privacy of the passengers and they do not delve into corporate stuff.
You guys probably got that 350 heading initially since EWR departure and satellite were split, 126.7 is usually only open when the traffic volume is a little higher, and you get fed to the next controller through a more northerly gate. When its "slower", ewr and satellite departure is combined up on 119.2. Nice to see your videos departing TEB
I often see comments on and I have made comments on, John not smiling, but, he is, correction, you both are, very professional when it comes to flying the aircraft. I myself have a ton of respect for the manner in which you both approach your work. Many thanks for the videos, I really enjoy watching you work!!
Thanks Will! We do our best to maintain our professionalism, but we do enjoy the joking and fun as well. We can (usually) tell when someone is leaving comments to be fun, and we always appreciate those.
I used to watch these sort of vids all the time. Back now after doing some covid inspired cooking learning from UA-cam. Wow, it's amazing how this is so similar to a professional kitchen......Communication is the key.
Hey Sean and John! I wanted to thank you guys for continually bringing us along on your flights. It’s keeping me motivated to continue on with my flight training. I was supposed to get my PPL 2 years ago but some things came up and I had to put it on hold. Now I’m in a position to start up again but I’ve been thinking maybe it’s not worth it. I’ve been thinking this because I’m currently majoring in ATC as a fallback if flying doesn’t work out, but over the past few months I started thinking that maybe I’d be happy just pursuing ATC and using all the money I’ve saved up on an insane vacation over summer break. But videos like yours remind me that even though I’d be happy as ATC, I’d be much happier as a pilot. Your videos are helping me keep my eyes on the prize and continue with my training and hopefully I’ll finally get my PPL soon. Thank you guys.
You know when you have passengers I understand wanting a smooth ride and avoiding the cloud but when you guys are in your shorts and T-shirts by yourselves flying through the clouds you have to admit it is one of the coolest feelings. I love skimming the cloud tops that’s when you know your flying when you get those wispy clouds going by the windscreen even if it is a little lumpy. 🌤🌤🌤🛩
Looked kind of "chunky" after the takeoff.... I swear, John looks like a biker dude, instead of a corporate pilot. No problems with the cabin when he is aboard! Haha!
Great CRM. I just got my Commercial AMEL last month and my single add on is this Thursday, after i get that out of the the way i think ill be spending a lot of time watching these to get some more ideas. Thanks a bunch guys.
You made Jon laugh with that alligator comment! BTW I do a lot of flying around Philly and New Jersey... I have heard Pres. 9 several times in the last couple of months but never you guys.
Hey guys. This had to be Sunday. It was a zoo at TEB EWR & JFK that day. More than normal. Flying this NY airspace is not easy. Flight controllers do 1 hell of a job. Center of the Universe as you call it for sure. Great video as always too.... looking forward to the next one....safe travels....
Hey guys, currently finishing up my MEI/CFII/CFI to get to my 1500. Enjoy your videos, giving me motivation to get it done and get on with it, although I'll be going 121. You guys rock it.
Know you guys are working hard and it shows, keep up the awesome vids. I only fly 172's but these vids are really a great motivator for how to handle yourself on the radio. Even some of your checklist routines have been incorporated into my own routine now and I'm glad to be doing it now. Best channel on the tube for doing it right with class.
Very much admire the professionalism that you guys demonstrate on your videos while keeping very informative. just wondering, what happens if you can't visually spot a tcas alert or an ATC traffic advisory ?.
its very cool that you mention farmingdale ny. republic airport! my childhood home sits right under the flight path the private jets come in on. would have been on the roof waving lol!
One thing I do when I land is pull back on the yoke. It creates more drag and helps slow the aircraft down after landing. I should be able to taxi all the way to where I’m going without ever touching the breaks. I’ve noticed it before, and the new camera angle in this video shows that you guys let loose of the yoke on landing. Is that because pulling back on the yoke is not needed because of the reverse thrust? Keep in mind, I fly a KISS aircraft in a totally different environment.
AAHH...good old Keep It Simple aircraft. A friend of mine has a few of those...nice planes. Gulfstream recommends keeping the yoke pushed forward on rollout for positive pressure on the nose wheel. The drag provided by the elevator pulled back is quite trivial compared to the ground spoilers and thrust reversers.
Another great video guys. Fascinating stuff thank you! You probably get asked this all the time but have you ever seen any strange things up there? UFOs etc?
Love your videos!! Keep them coming. Question for future videos perhaps you can answer: 1. What has been the funniest thing you have experienced as a pilot? 2. Most amazing? 3. Close call or what got your heart going? 4. Favorite trip and why? 5. Tips for flying the G-IV. Thanks!!
Holy I just Googled you guys, how many planes does Presidential have??? Just finished watching. Did you realise the runway was quite visible on landing in reflection in your sunnies!
Presidential has somewhere around 20 planes on their certificate. The reflections was a happy accident. I saw it when editing and thought it was pretty cool, so I made sure it got in the final cut.
Awesome job on your promotion in alerion av. Just miss the original duo..But best of luck to both you 2. Your definitely the top 1% of pilot professionals 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪.Gotta be cool flyin a hot rod of the sky’s.
New to the channel. One suggestion for a tech vid (if you have not already done so that is): Complete programming of the flight computer prior to flight. Apologies if you have already done this.
I really enjoyed this video allot!! I, like others before me, was getting a little anxious for your next video. I suppose you hear two sides of this quite often about are the videos too long or too short, I really enjoy your work so I could enjoy it much longer. Either way keep up the good work! I remember you coming into MSP and was wondering how often you get in here? I maybe a little off here but if John loses his plane he could work for the queen as a guard. Just kidding John. Blue skies and fly safe!!!
Honestly, we don't get to MSP very often...maybe once a year or so. I've been struggling to get videos out for you guys lately, I'll try to step it up a bit. UA-cam has this new survey tool that I'm thinking about using to see if people like shorter or longer videos. Stand by for that sometime soon.
Corporate Pilot Life you mean with a hectic schedule and busy family life you can’t crank out daily quality videos? I am stunned Kidding! Why not try something daring, like spend time with the wife and kidlings?
TBH, I can feel some tension in the cockpit. I hope it is "just" you being tired after a (few) long working day(s). Anyway, it is always a pleasure to see you guys flying. Cheers.
Sounds like a lot of delays, and traffic, which makes for long flights, and extra busy days. But appreciate you loading these up for us, and hope you guys did get some lunch in, or at least some downtime not long after, as that was a lot of destinations, in far to short of time.
Hi guys! I'm a huge fan of your videos. The shot of the vapor trail above you was amazing..... almost hypnotizing like driving in a snow storm. How high above you and how far ahead of you was that aircraft? Keep up the great work and have a good, well deserved break!
Busy airspace over there Sean, but the weather on take off would be welcomed here (N.E UK) It's been IFR for almost three months solid! Have you been into Kortrijk (EBKT) in the Flanders region of Belgium? It's the main business airport for that area (Flanders, north of Lille) and it is hard to see visually as it sits in a built up industrial area. But i always called visual with the field :) miles out.
By the way, I went to the ER today presenting with Corporate Pilot Life withdrawal Symptoms. Fortunately the Dr. knew the symptoms and rolled out some vintage Corporate Pilot Life videos and everything was fine. But just be advised, it is not covered by insurance.....🙄
my dad would have loved to see your channel having spent sp much time to gain his PPL but unfortunately not realising his final ambition, he did go solo but Parkinsons beat him to it, love your channel
You guys should try a box of Think Thin Bars. ($7.50 at the grocery) They have 20 grams protein and no sugar. When you're really pressed for getting something to eat quick, these things work great. They come in chocolate and peanut butter. The Chocolate is better. One of these bars along with an apple and you're set for a while. Take care.
When you departed Teto as control changed your headings, Shaun displayed some unhappiness at the turn, (4:40) what was up? Just a longer route or a smooth ride issue? Always enjoy your videos, thanks for the extra effort to do these videos.
What does it mean when you say good spool up throttles armed power is set air speed alive two times. Also what is v2. Thanks for the videos, I enjoy them very much
my first backwards trick shot landing in shaun's glasses glad it work out okay. good to see you guy's and you to john.best looking john i ever seen what a cutie
Hi Sean, not sure if you covered this in one of your previous video's. Has the "Engine synchronizing" after take off the same function as on twin prop's? I haven't seen this before on jets. Nice video as always!
It basically has the same function. When it is not selected, the engines will be synced based on EPR. Once we turn it on, we can decide to sync based on N1 or N2 speed. This makes a big difference on the droning in the airplane.
What is the upside down 4 3 2 1 in the right side window. Just over your right shoulder. Shows up on the camera that’s pointed at the right wing. I’ve seen it before in your other videos and have been meaning to ask. Thanks as always!
Hi guys, thanks for another great video. I heard Sean mention 'guard' when referring to chatter on the frequency. I have never really understood what 'guard' is. I guess it is a frequency but what is it for? thanks guys, regards gareth
i had read pilots should not use polarized to better spot traffic but i guess you can always take them off when looking for traffic and most of the time TCAS and controllers are the better source for traffic than just randomly looking outside. i got a pair of polarized sunglasses and the contrast seems much better, i wonder if they are even better for spotting traffic. but as i said it was just something i read and so i was wondering.
Why is it that in the middle of the takeoff that John grabs the yoke and says "my yoke"? Is he reactively taking control of the aircraft or is that just a standard practice when grabbing the yoke as you approach V speeds? I would think you both know who is going to be flying at that part of the flight. Your videos are great as always!
That is actually standard procedure. The person in the left seat keeps their left hand on the tiller until 80 knots, so the person in the right seat keeps the yoke until then. At that point, if the left seat person is to be flying, they take the yoke as you have seen.
So as 269 is in maintenance do you get time off, of get to fly another presidential jet? Be nice to see you fly a different airframe. Also, in this vid in the bumpy conditions the yolk was shaking like a stick shaker! Looked like flutter it was so severe. Is that normal during turbulence on autopilot or do you need the engineers to check the cable tensions?🤔
When the plane is in maintenance, like now, we get some time off. The yoke bouncing around is pretty normal. Every G-IV I've ever flown does this the same way in heavy turbulence.
Not sure where they were purchased, but mine are Maui Jim Peahi model...cost somewhere around $250. Jon wears Costa, but I'm not sure the model. I think his cost about the same.
Ok Sean, Jon, here is a rookie question. When taking off, it seems the gear comes up very early after you "rotate". How quickly can the landing gear re-deploy in case of an emergency?
To re-extend the gear takes about 10 seconds, but once we rotate, there's just about no reason we would do that. At that point, there's not enough runway to land on, so even if we lost an engine, were going up and coming back around to land on the full runway.
@@CorporatePilotLife What would you do, in the incredibly rare instance, that you simultaneously lost both engines just as you took off and pulled up the gears?
If I understood when taking off you had to level at 1500. I assume you would really have to roll back the throttles to keep below 250? I know you weren’t there for very long however.
ATC is supposed to provide the separation, but ultimately, it is the pilot's responsibility to see and avoid in VMC conditions. Also, if ATC screws up and fails to provide the separation, they keep on living while the pilots pay the price. We would rather do our part to keep ourselves out of trouble.
Ebrahim Abdulla people are human and make mistakes. Better to be wary than ignorant. This also applies to driving a car. I’d rather wait a few moments when the light turns green, so the red light runners can blast through, than end up dead with “but I had the right of way” on my tombstone
Everyone please remember in order for Sean & Jon to continue providing the very best aviation content on UA-cam, we must respect the privacy of the aircraft’s owners and passengers. One of the reasons I like this channel is that the crew is able to do this by respecting the privacy of the passengers and they do not delve into corporate stuff.
scott jenkins well said
I see that don't give you any better climbs or routing than the give me! Great video!
Hey! Look who it is! Glad to see you on here...needless to say we were less than pleased with the routing they gave us that day.
My 2 favourite channels having comms on a video

Alligator with a transponder! LMFAO! 🤣😂😎
Or a pesky python! And once seen a turtle that squawked a code!
I caught that smile when ATC confused your call sign after warning about confusing call signs.
Classic...
You saw that did you...couldn't help it
I would have given him a reply "ATC please use caution with similar call signs on frequency" Doubt he would chuckled.
I often see comments on and I have made comments on, John not smiling, but, he is, correction, you both are, very professional when it comes to flying the aircraft. Will Moritz Jon never seems to catch a break. Hopefully Jon is grumpy on the outside and laughing on the inside
I like how the controller warns you about the similar call sign, and then promptly gets confused himself.
John would make a great sophisticated bad guy in the movies.
Mark Russell I’m thinking Jon would make a good Bond villain: suave, sophisticated, and diabolical. Can’t go wrong with those attributes
I used to watch these sort of vids all the time. Back now after doing some covid inspired cooking learning from UA-cam. Wow, it's amazing how this is so similar to a professional kitchen......Communication is the key.
Thanks for the ride guys. Always a heart charger when a controller says in scud weather, "traffic 12 O'clock, 5 miles, altitude unknown!"
No kidding...
Hey Sean and John! I wanted to thank you guys for continually bringing us along on your flights. It’s keeping me motivated to continue on with my flight training.

Loved the in route traffic @12:00 with the jet contrails. Nice flight.
Thanks!
Nice to see another Presidential jet lining up and waiting. Great shot of the contrails.
Nice video and great flying, guys! Excellent contrail shot Shaun.
You guys do a nice job with so much going on around you. Oh, tell Cpt. John it's okay to smile once in awhile.
R Fish poor Jon, never catches a break
That was a quick ascent at Teterborough. As you say, "She's sporty!" Another great video, guys.
Love this channel. You guys have awesome CRM. Aspiring to be like y'all. Final IFR stage check this Sunday.
Awesome...good luck! Be sure to let us know how it goes too!
Armchair Pilot good luck! I was in a cold sweat with my IFR
Thank guys! Unfortunately, the lovely Pacific Northwest weather wasn't helpful as usual. So, it's rescheduled again!
Armchair Pilot my reaction to a reschedule is “meh”. Gotta roll with the punches
Been doing it all my life. 10 years Air Force and now navigating the red tape filled world of trying to get flight training funded by the GI Bill.
Great video and thank you again for uploading! Everyone is busy on that Teterboro departure! You fly a sweet aircraft!
Not a moment too soon with this video upload. Thought I was going to have Corporate Pilot Life withdrawals.lol 😜
I hear that.
Ditto
I look every day for this channel. The best. If ever I have the capacity I will rent that plane for a journey to anywhere.
ขอบคุณครับ
We miss Fransine... where is she ??
Her smile is so beautiful..
Didn't get to finish circuit breaker checks but I could tell ya looked. The sky sure gets darker at 40,000 feet. Pretty cool 😎 looking up there
I MISS this CREW....
Awesome video as always, alligator with a transponder - brilliant. You guys have a great cohesion, amazing to watch!!
You know when you have passengers I understand wanting a smooth ride and avoiding the cloud but when you guys are in your shorts and T-shirts by yourselves flying through the clouds you have to admit it is one of the coolest feelings. I definitely agree...

I swear, John looks like a biker dude, instead of a corporate pilot. No problems with the cabin when he is aboard! Haha!
joel1239871 having a friend who looks like a biker is a *good* thing
I was thinking he would have been a better fit for the movie ‘Flight’ than Denzel
Jake Row absolutely
Great CRM. I just got my Commercial AMEL last month and my single add on is this Thursday, after i get that out of the the way i think ill be spending a lot of time watching these to get some more ideas. Thanks a bunch guys.
Congrats on the AMEL and best of luck on the single add on! Let us know how it goes...
Very nice to hear controller note the similar call signs on the frequency!
You made Jon laugh with that alligator comment! BTW I do a lot of flying around Philly and New Jersey... I have heard Pres. 9 several times in the last couple of months but never you guys.
I thought that one was a little funny. Pres 9 is usually up in Teterboro, so I'm not surprised you've heard them moving around.

If I had describe this channel it would be "relaxed professionalism" very well done you two!
I like that term...Thanks!
Fantastic...Thank you!
Atc seems almost as busy as in Europe. Can't wait for CPDLC.
Mic Drop on the Pimp move while landing!! Yoke release and direct to pedals.. Great Video
I see "Left Seat" is growing a beard... You Guys look Great....Good Flying..!!
another awesome vid Shaun can't wait for next one
Just found your channel. Fantastic. Wish I would have found it a long time ago. Very professional duo you are. Enjoy all the video's so far. Fly safe.
Excellent! Welcome to the channel!
Very much admire the professionalism that you guys demonstrate on your videos while keeping very informative. just wondering, what happens if you can't visually spot a tcas alert or an ATC traffic advisory ?.
If we can't see the traffic and we get too close, ATC will give us either a turn or climb/descent to avoid the traffic.
It would be good to hear something about the company you fly for sometime. Another great video - thanks.
its very cool that you mention farmingdale ny. republic airport! my childhood home sits right under the flight path the private jets come in on. would have been on the roof waving lol!
Always fun starting north to go south, gotta love NY

That vibrating yoke was like being on a very bumpy road and you can't even steer for the smooth spots.
Good job guys
Awesome contrails in the video

May be time for a cross company video..just saying ;)
HAHA! Yep...
So is there a Presidential 6 too?

When you departed Teto as control changed your headings, Shaun displayed some unhappiness at the turn, (4:40) what was up? Just a longer route or a smooth ride issue? Always enjoy your videos, thanks for the extra effort to do these videos.
They were just adding time to the flight. We wanted a south turn, so a heading of 350 was in the wrong direction.
What does it mean when you say good spool up throttles armed power is set air speed alive two times. Also what is v2. Thanks for the videos, I enjoy them very much
I'll do a Tech video on the whole takeoff sequence and callouts
my first backwards trick shot landing in shaun's glasses glad it work out okay. good to see you guy's and you to john.best looking john i ever seen what a cutie
That was completely unintentional, but I'm glad it worked out!
See the Lear 35 sitting on the Atlantic ramp at 00:12? Thats my ride!
No kidding...that's awesome!
@corporatepilotlife Great job! You mentioned Farmingdale, but did you mean Teterboro?
Nope...we go to Farmingdale at the end of the day
Damn. FRG is my home field. Next time, lunch is on me!

I wear Maui Jim Peahi glasses. Jon wears Costa...not sure his model though.
What is the upside down 4 3 2 1 in the right side window. Just over your right shoulder. Shows up on the camera that’s pointed at the right wing. I’ve seen it before in your other videos and have been meaning to ask.
Thanks as always!
Those are the connection points for the electrically heated window. All 4 cockpit windows are heated from within.
Another great video guys.
John is holding quite a long time to the nose wheel steering when taking off. Is that recommended by Gulfstream?
Yep...to 80 knots
Hi guys, thanks for another great video. I heard Sean mention 'guard' when referring to chatter on the frequency. I have never really understood what 'guard' is. I guess it is a frequency but what is it for?
thanks guys,
regards
gareth
Guard is the emergency frequency...121.5. We typically monitor it at all times.
cool video as expected .
7 Thousand here we go. Love it -
Best Video so far! keep 'em coming!
Hey Sean, are those Maui’s your wearing? How are they for the glare?
Great stuff again!
Bryan from Vancouver
Yep...Maui Jim Peahi. I love them...they're my second pair. They are polarized, so they really take the glare away beautifully.
i had read pilots should not use polarized to better spot traffic but i guess you can always take them off when looking for traffic and most of the time TCAS and controllers are the better source for traffic than just randomly looking outside.
i got a pair of polarized sunglasses and the contrast seems much better, i wonder if they are even better for spotting traffic. but as i said it was just something i read and so i was wondering.
Makes sense! Now I see the correlation with the 80 knot callout. Thanks again!
Thanks for another great video. The yokes seem to oscillate more in your aircraft than in other jet aircraft. Is that a Gulfstream oddity?
I can't speak for other Gulfstream models, but all the G-IVs I've flown do this in turbulent air.
Corporate Pilot Life Thanks for the answer.
Where did you get your sunglasses from...what was the $? Enjoy all your flights.
Not sure where they were purchased, but mine are Maui Jim Peahi model...cost somewhere around $250. Jon wears Costa, but I'm not sure the model. I think his cost about the same.
What happened to Francine? Miss her happy smile!
She'll be back soon
Good news! Thanks - love Corporate Pilot Life, check everyday for new postings.
Where can we get the cool sunglasses.
Just about anywhere. Mine are Maui Jim, Peahi model. Jon wears Costa, but I'm not sure the model
That was a cool video. Hope we get to see the rest of the day. Thanks!
Working on the editing as we speak...
great you have more videos. Is Presidential 9 company plane?
Yep
Do you ever give instructions to the passengers like we get on regular flights?
Yep...it's required to give a safety briefing before every flight.
Good edits tks
Flight radar has your plane (PRD69) in Brunswick GA for the last 2 weeks (Gulfstream facility?) are you guys flying another aircraft??
Tim Steele did you check the N number??
Yeah...it's in maintenance for a few more weeks. Not flying another plane, just enjoying a little time at home.
Well earned, enjoy the down time..
Yes, the app tracks based on the tail number..Sean also just replied that the aircraft is in maintenance for several week..
Corporate Pilot Life good idea, before the wife and kids ask “who are you?”
If I understood when taking off you had to level at 1500. I assume you would really have to roll back the throttles to keep below 250? I know you weren’t there for very long however.
That's correct, but we actually had to keep it below 200 knots initially. They get pretty picky about the 200 knot restriction in class D airspace
Why Jon always concern about finding other traffic ? That's a controller job will provide separation .
Good ole New York airspace!
Hey chaps. Explain why it 'sucked' after departure??
They kept us going North for a while when we needed to be going South.
