Keep POSTING JEEP tutorials on DIY with the Jeep Renegade. You are one of the easiest, detailed DIY guys out there! You get right to the detail, no ‘off topic’ chit-chat like others (painful to watch those guys). I also like that you post the exact link to getting the products which you did the ‘footwork’ on to test and make sure they are compatible to the vehicle.
Got some for free. Guy said couldn't clock them. I realized the holes for the set screw on this model were off so the bulbs say at 11 and 1 not 12. Took out screw, set to 12 up and down, then put a tad of glue in the hole. Works like a charm and no, glue didn't come off when warm. Wow! The light is amazing. Reflective materials light up way down the road. The 3 or car length beam is great and beyond is brighter vs bulbs because after that light bubble it gets dark quick. Left and right is awesome as well. Just a note, don't use std bulbs and drive around with fog driving lights on. The heat will burn and melt the housing. Whomever had my jeep before melted the housing. Got new housings from Amazon for $20 something, got $20 LEDs for them. Awesome and doesn't get hot like regular bulbs. Before I was blind, now I can see. LOL
Hey, I know you no longer have a Renegade, but I wanted to know your DIY videos helped me swap out my headlights, driving lights, reverse lights and even add a sunglasses holder. Thanks, dude!
Great video man. Inspired me to get led’s for my Jeep Patriot. I ordered my simdevanma’s off amazon. Thank JR for making this “how to video” soooooooo helpfu 😎👍
I have these bulbs and they are great! I work grave yard shift and they’re definitely brighter but 3 cons 1. they suck in fog feel like that make the fog worse then regular bulbs. 2. They are loud as hell if the car isn’t running you can definitely hear that fan. 3. Bright vs lows it just makes it wider and maybe a tad farther maybe. I’ve had these bulbs for 5-6 months
The brights aren't throwing the light as far because they naturally fit in upside down. Have to make a small adjustment and they should fit the other way.
Ok guys. I had posted a comment six months ago about these LEDs. So I am disappointed to say that one of the lights stopped working. The high beam side on one of them still worked but the lows didn't work. The second bulb just died completely. If you do get them there is a two year warranty and they were very good about replacing them. They said that they were redesigned because of the same problem reported from other people. Make sure any bulbs that you get that you keep the original OEM bulbs in case this happens to you. I was glad that I did. We will see how long the new ones last and I will try to comment again in six months to tell you guys if those are still working.
I burned three bulbs in a month - changed by the warranty -. But it is logical, since the fan does not fulfill its function because the headlight cover does not let out hot air.
@@edrock400 Or don't put in LEDs! You are blinding other drivers, period. Its why the sign is still lit even with the low beams, when it shouldn't be. Every time I see a person using bright LEDs or HIDs with reflectors, I am sure to turn on my 30K lumen lightbar and blind their asses right back hoping they get the hint. Be smart and even though its a bit of work, bring it to a shop and have them install projectors that have a crisp cutoff, and then I recommend going HID. HID simply work better in projectors than LEDs for which they were never designed.
Something does not compute with that sink and fan. Aren't LEDs supposed to be way more efficient? But if they are, they should generate less heat. Suppose the sink merely sinks the heat away from the diodes. That's nice, but the enclosure is, well, enclosed, so what's the point?
Not sure. I agree LEDs are supposed to be way more efficient and in fact, these are since they are brighter and lower watt than the halogen lights. What I figure is it has something to do with how hot it can get right at the point of the LED diode and that's why it needs to be cooled.
They do generate less heat, but LEDs, unlike competing technologies, are also extremely intolerant of heat. The hotter the LED gets, the lower its efficiency, and the faster it will burn out. Worse yet, these refector headlights are designed for a single omnidirectional point of light, which an HID or incandescent bulb can produce, but an LED is incapable of. That means you need multiple diodes in a very tiny area which concentrates the heat and makes it difficult to disperse that heat, as compared to say a 90 LED light bar where they are all pointing forward, mounted to a heat bar, and dispersed over a wide area to keep temperatures down. LED retrofits for reflector housings are simply a bad design. Don't buy them.
Because these LED headlights are anti-flicker. That was kinda the point of this video as they are direct drop in with a proper cutoff and no antiflicker adapter required.
Could u please do a video on how 2 replace the fog light bulbs as well. And can I replace my fog bulbs with LEDs. If so what types of LEDs would I need 2 purchase Thanks. Scott.
I shall give this a try. The stock headlights are horrible. They light up the edges but not the middle center of the road. Got to be able to see the moose so that problem was fixed by a lightbar relayed off of the highbeams LOL. Have you had to change your spark plugs yet? I’m doing mine next week.
I replaced my stock bulbs with leds and it does not work the way you show it.. they turn on and off like a christmas tree after a few seconds, very dangerous driving with those..i have a 2016 jeep patriot 2.0 sport and any led i put in there does the same thing so i purchased the canbus anti flicker error free adapter..still acting up..whats the deal here? its supposed to be just plug and play but my luck does not permit it why?
I bought similar ones off Amazon the LED would slide right in but the two connectors wouldn’t fully clip in together. Will these LEDs fit a 2020 renegade sport?
I got the same lights but my low beams r brighter n go farther than then my high beams n the led lights r in the same place not one behind the other there did by side
Thanks for posting this! I have a 2017 Sport Renegade and im planning on following in your footsteps with these lights. Ive researched it and could never find an LED light that would work without replacing the housing. Please keep me posted with how these lights hold up.
Languid Friction yea get the 1157 led from walmart its a 6000k bulb just like the jdtmy one but without the light out and flickering. Its only 16 bucks after taxes and it looks great and matches these leds which is always a plus
The fan should make some noise as it is trying to move the air and keep the bulb cool. I know mine makes some noise that can be heard if the car is off but the lights are still on.
@@JrsGasolineAlley awesome I bought all three that you suggested in your videos. Just waiting for them to come in. Just making sure there are no flickering issues incase I needed to order a decoder
I hear you, but all of the LED headlight bulbs have a heatsink or fan. Not sure if it is the electronics behind the light or the bulb itself but they all do get hot.
Any update on the headlights? Still working well? The ones that you have a link to only have one large led instead of the 2 like yours have. Do you think that makes a difference in high/low beam?
Hey bud. I'm thinking of buying a Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. I came across your channel and I saw you had a bike rack on the back. I do alot of single track mountain biking where I live. Do you think I could carry a 4 bike vertical rack with a 2" receiver with 4 people and gear to the mountains and shuttle in this Jeep?
I wanna do the upgrade as well I just bought a renegade, but is it gonna give me any errors. Like the light is out? Because I have a dodge dart also and tried changing the lights and kept getting light out warning on my dashboard.
Thanks for another great video but the bulb in that link says it will not fit my 2018. Can you suggest a good brand for me that doesn't break the bank?
I noticed that your coolant reservoir is below the min line. I get that on my 1.4 renegade too. Have you had any problems with that. I appreciate all your videos.
Looking to get these for my renegade, however after market LED lights in a 2020 renegade that doesn't come with LEDs as standard isn't road legal in the UK (or so I read online). I worry about the brightness of these bulbs. Are you in the UK? - if so have you had any issues? I don't want to blind oncoming drivers or get stopped by the police haha...
@@JrsGasolineAlley Okay, great thanks! Once I get it I will take it to Halfords and see if they have the right bulbs to do it, if not I'll order these online myself. Thanks amazing video! Will come back to re-watch in future

Yeah, they are a nice upgrade. I feel like the fog issue is due to the lights being brighter and whiter than they reflect against the fog a bit more.
Do you plan on adding fog lights to your jeep? If so can you do a video showing how your wife them up and everything.. I’d love to get some on mine
thats why stock bulbs are 4500k...for rain and fog penetration...these are 6000k

3yrs later man! Gives us an update lol? Any error codes? Are they still bright? How you like them now? Thanks
haha, I'll have to find the new owner. It's been 2 years since I sold the car.

I would definitely put a few holes in the headlight cover like a lot of companies recommend

Did this set off canbus system saying head lights are out ?
Nope. These bulbs keep that from happening. It literally plugs and plays working like normal.
What were you looking for to find the lights, because the link you provided does not have the H13 any more?
You just saved me $140 lol this video was super helpful! I can’t believe how easy this was

If someone is in the MA area that has a Jeep with Fog Lights I'd be in to do a video on their car.
It's kinda easy. The real problem are the day time running lights. You need tiny hands to make that easier

Yep, absolutely worth it. No spark plugs yet, though with 35k on the car might need to think about it.
If you install LED's or HID's into reflector housing you're going to blind other drivers. You should upgrade your housing to have projector's.
What’s the difference between the one your using & the maxgtrs?

JeepRenegadeGuy Has anyone tested the super white halogen bulbs in comparison to the LED lights? Thanks. Loving your videos.
Hi the fan of the light is it making noise and do you know if people have problem with the fan thanks

Aluminum heatsink, fan. Why are those on the light? LED's don't produce heat like a conventional bulb. Something doesn't seem right.

Yep, these do not need a resistor. Check my link in the description.
Did you get any backlash from other drivers driving the opposite lane. Like them flashing their high beams thinking you had yours on?
No because these are set at factory position for the reflectors. That's why lights like this work well.
