  • The Rice SWCD is pleased to announce that we have acquired a new 8/12 row interseeder that drills seeds between corn rows, enhancing the likelihood of successful establishment. Incorporating the seed reduces the seeding rate by 35%, thereby keeping seed costs down. It is compatible with 8, 12, 16, or 24-row planters and can simultaneously sidedress nitrogen while interseeding.
If you have missed the corn/soybean planting window due to wet fields or drown-outs, planting a diverse cover crop mix for the rest of the growing season can keep weeds under control, increase infiltration, and improve soil health. If you farm in the Rice County area and would like us to custom apply cover crops for you this year, contact our office and we will put you on the list.
There has never been a better time to protect and improve your soil health. Decide to implement conservation practices this year. Contact the Rice SWCD at 507-332-5408, and our staff will meet with you to start the process.
