Sir, I am a newbie watch maker. Can you please guide me what mainspring winder to use for HMT caliber 6500 which you showed in this video? Other handwinding caliber number is 0231.. I am planning to get a Bergeon one for this… your help is much appreciated
I couldn't tell you the Bergeon number unfortunately as I use a vintage K&D style winder primarily and my other set is vintage Bergeon. The best thing to do is measure the inner diameter of the barrel and order based on that.
You're a star. On starting my journey of earning watch making in 2021 I purchased this exact watch and movement from India. Still smells of curry. I now have this skill to do a full restore, but this was a new movement to me. Internet search, and lo and behold, I'm subscribed to your site. Started the breakdown. Woohoo!
@@spidiq8 Your comment regarding the e-clip for the reduction wheel made me do a full check. Can you believe what I saw? There was no e-clip, a piece of the finest wire I have ever seen was wrapped around the spigot. Went to ease it off and the wire straightened, then curled. Placed it into the tray and it uncurled and went 'ping' What? None of my c-clips are small enough. Not a happy bunny.
Hmt Rajat with 6501 movement is a great watch, very underrated even among HMT enthusiasts in india. I bought a old Rajat bidirectional for rs 300 but it needs servicing, fortunately that is very cheap in india , yours is a unidirectional movement.

This video is a perfect example of British humour and understatement.
This movement is unidirectional and is 6902 and not 6501.
I state in the video that it's a unidirectional winding automatic and the calibre is based on the Citizen/Miyota 6501 per the brackets.
