2023... Team Shatter accused Riptide of cheating. The lead mechanics for team Shatter DEMANDED the judges check every aspect of the Riptide robot. Then again team Shatter demanded a complete recheck after Riptide used Shatter as target practice. Battlebots is getting ROUGH. The bots have incredible power. But if you can't take the heat, then stay outta the kitchen.
Extremely unpopular opinion but 99% of all the backlash and outrage Riptide gets was so unnecessary. I think people just never liked Ethan in the first place cause of his yelling, so when he goes and causes chaos with these late hits and pissing off other teams, it fuels the fire even more leading to people going crazy online. I'm honestly very sicken and sadden as to how literally no one learned from the s6 finale controversy, like can't we just have a respectful constructive conversation without all the insults please? And with the shatter drama, that was *ALL* on the shatter team because *THEY* were the one who falsely accused Riptide of cheating with the lamest evidence ever. Riptide was only adding decorations, not modifying the bot, and apparently scale fluctuation never existed in the history of human civilization before (if riptide weighed over 250, then that would have been a problem, but it didn't). Turns out there were no evidence of them cheating too, which honestly makes the shatter team looks stupid. And then they had the absolute gore to refuse a handshake, because if anything *THEY* should be apologizing to riptide for all the unecessary tests and wasting production time. How would you feel if you were falsely accused of cheating? The hypocrisy was so unreal here cause if the situation was flipped and the Riptide team falsely accused shatter team of cheating, no one would buy it and still crap on Riptide. I'm not defending every action of Riptide here cause I find them a bit annoying myself, but my goodness the backlash was so extreme. And even to this day people still cry and shine over Ethan. Guarantee you if news Ethan returns in s8 comes, the battlebots subreddit with blow up in fire, I swear
People are crucifying me when I'm "defending" Ethan because he has autism, people need to realize he's socially awkward in nature, he's not trying to purposely be mean or rude, it's just a symptom or some form of defense mechanism related to his condition. About the match against Shatter!, yeah, they wine and cry about him allegedly cheating, as if Riptide ever needed any advantage against them, they just knew they would lose so they started acting up in order to avoid or postpone the inevitable which was losing miserably.

If You go to his UA-cam channel, you'll see him give a talk, an actual formal talk (like a TED talk) and he sounds so much different and way more mature.
