I would also agree if the movie actually took the time to get the character right. "Come on spiderman" he says to psych himself up! But why? He wants to be a superhero because it's fun and to prove himself to tony. It's not nearly as compelling as the original scene. The MASSIVE ruble in the comic is symbolic of his guilt on his shoulders he still has deep down for the death of Ben. This immovable object finally starts move when he remembers the reason he's been doing this.
It's a great performance from Tom but unfortunately the movie doesn't understand what made the original so powerful.

As much as I loved Spectacular, I actually felt like its portrayal of the rubble lifting scene was lackluster. It was far too fast-paced. Meanwhile, Homecoming captured that tense, drawn-out feeling of helplessness that the original comic conveyed, the same feeling Stan Lee loved so much from seeing Steve Ditko's illustrations.
Once again, absolutely loved Spectacular. Still one of the best portrayals of Spider-Man ever made, and still the best Spider-Man cartoon ever made. Just felt like they could've done that scene better.

I understand what you mean but you have to realize that they had to fit this in a tv time frame and not a full length movie, sure they could have and it would have been great if they did fit it in but I feel like they did the best of their abilities and I feel like the moment when he frees himself from the black suit makes up for this.

@@Bakamatsu-GojiFanArchive But it's not as powerful a moment in the movie. See, in the show, what drives Peter isn't merely his own inner strength, but his guilt over failing to help Uncle Ben. Peter is a character who draws his power from his guilt, and his failure to help Uncle Ben is why he doesn't want to fail to help others. Of course, because the movie ignores Uncle Ben, there's a missing element to what drives Peter Parker. I'm not saying that the scene should only be about Peter saving others. It is also about Peter finding his inner strength. But Spectacular was able to show Peter's guilt AND his inner strength. Homecoming was only able to show the latter.

I feel like Spider-Man Homecoming had the best of the scenes. I think this because it shows perfectly how terrifying it would be being slowly crushed by massive debris, and how incredibly painful and difficult it would be to then lift said debris off yourself. Peasant Scrublord, I agree with this as well, but it just doesn’t seem “dramatic” enough. Like, if you were being crushed, you would be screaming for help, as done in the movie. But in the comic and show, it just kinda seems like “Okay, I’ll try a couple times and it’ll come off.” And also, this is just my opinion, don’t worry! I guess it just didn’t make me feel quite as worried as in the movie. I hope you have a nice day! :)

The cartoon was mature and nearest to my heart but scene feels like it needed to be pushed alittle longer, and the movie was sooo childish which makes kinda sense being raised soft by daddy tony rather than the harsh environment the originals had which pushed him to be more mature and hold the man title and thats one of the reasons i dont like the mcu movies for, tony being the uncle bin ruined alot of things tbh.

The fact in see him crying for help, is to show humanity in Peter. Any other teenager would cry as Peter do, we see how vulnerable is a boy (cause that what he is, just a boy) when they are fighting against a villain.
But how he face the situation and move forward, show us the true value of his character.
I mean, yeah, it would be perfect to have the iconic uncle's Ben line "with great power, comes with a big responsibility". But no, we had Tony (is also a good line, tho).
Anyway, if you can't appreciate how amazing was Tom in the escene... Well, is a shame for you.

I think i know why Steve did that the way he did. Each panel shows Peter thinking about May, thinking about saving her, thinking about how he wasn't able to save Ben. Peter was reminding himself of what was at stake if he didn't get up, he'd lose someone else he loved, and he refused to go through that again. People always joke about "the power of love and friendship" but clearly it works. He refused to lose someone he loved because he gave up. This moment was stretched to show how being a hero isn't just about fighting and saving people, it's about not giving up even if it seems impossible
3:50 Tom Holland's moment was just as good. He had been fighting with one of the most technical suits for basically the first few months he was Spider-Man. But he grew dependent on it, thinking he could only be Spider-Man with it. But then he remembered Tony's words "If you're nothing without this suit, then you shouldn't have it", making him realize that with or without the suit, he was still Spider-Man
