  • Here are the top 4 things that I like and dislike about my 2022 Ram 2500 with the 6.4L hemi gas powered motor. I've had this truck for a little over 1 month and have just over 2,000 miles on it. so far it has been a great truck and i have had nothing go wrong or notice anything that would be a major issue.
    THANK YOU FOR WATCHING

    I have a 2020 tradesman 2500 6.4 Hemi and pull a 31.5 travel trailer with no issues at all.Gives me about 10.5 mpg at 65 to 70mph no sway at all . I would recommend this truck

    The MPG gets better the more you drive it. My 2500 is getting 14 and i live in VA so mostly all HWY miles.

    Tow a 16'-20' single axle bumper pull trailer for work with this truck and honestly this truck has no worries pulling up major inclines at 70mph

    I have the billet silver, 6.4 Hemi and like you, I like the more blacked out looks. I have a Laramie with the sport package so got the painted body parts instead of chrome but then got after market Fab Fours Matrix (pre-runner) and Rough country black bumpers and so it is starting to look more blacked out. I got the after market power steps and put one of the OEM (like) steps for the back that pops down. I highly recommend doing this as getting in the bed of a 2500 is NOT easy. The after market step actually came with the OEM instructions and took 30 minutes to install once you get all your stuff together and so is an EASY install for a handy person... The AEV shades and front protection are nice. My main complaint after having a 2021 1500 is the size in back of the crew cab. The 1500 Crew rear area in Gen 5 is huge. The 2500 is still like the old Gen 4 1500 size. My big dogs prefer more space as I keep the back down flat for them. IT's still not bad though. Mileage is better than I expected vs the 1500 with MPG towing the same rig being roughly the same at 7.5 to 8.5 mpg depending upon wind, grades at 70 mph. It is a couple to three mpg less overall without the trailer at around 13 mixed town/highway driving. I do get 16+ mpg on the highway. This is NOT much different than a 1500. Yes, it is less, but not as much as I thought having the 6.4. I only have 8500 miles on mine in a year as I use it primarily as a tow vehicle (50%) and transfer station light off roading on Nat Forest roads mostly... Overall, I'm very pleased and no diesel maintenance and 10K less on price. I got a gasser because of HOW I drive and what I tow and how I use it. If I towed every day, I'd get a diesel. I don't, I'm good.

      Thanks for the recommendation, I really think that I need to get something to help get into the bed as I am constantly getting things in and out of the bed all day long when working and that would make it much easier and I agree getting the diesel or gas is completely personal preference just what you need it for!

    Nice quick review. I bought a 21 2500 Big Horn, from a 13 1500 Laramie. I never liked chrome but it grew on me with my Laramie (in dark grey). I hate paying extra for appearance packages, but when I saw the 2500 I ended up getting with the Night Edition I had to just get it. Bright white like yours, but everything blacked out. The soft open tailgate must be part of the “option group 2/B” package because I have it. Same with a step that kicks down at the back (not as nice as what GM has, but still works). Like you mention, the gas mileage is the one thing to really consider, but with a truck that weighs 7200lbs, it’s not going to get great mileage. Anyway, it’s a nice looking truck!!

    I have the same truck in a tradesman i paid 55 out the door. It’s super easy to add soft open just need the shock the brackets are already on there like higher trim trucks. I think the shock was like $50 or so at dealer. Once I got over like 5k miles mpg started to get up to 14-15.

  • @easttexasengineering3489
    @easttexasengineering3489 Рік тому +2

    GM comes with the soft drop tail gate for when your waiting on the tow truck you don’t have to stress about dropping the tailgate on yourself and you will have a nice place to sit since the seats themselves are so uncomfortable. Ram owners rarely use the tailgate since it tows so well they just leave the trailer attached 😂😂
    I got the 2023 Ram, in the same package and I agree, hate the chrome and for $550 I did a linex paint match grill, and front/rear bumper spray,

    You already figured this out by now, but your mpg are worse when it's new, it needs broken in. You shouldn't tow for at least 500 miles. You aren't supposed to go above 3500rpms for 500. 4k for another 1k miles. You're not supposed to floor it for 2k miles. Then when you do, it's supposed to be in higher gears. You're not supposed to floor it from a stop or at slow speeds until like 2500 miles. Then, change the oil. Im sure they didn't tell you any of that. I have a buddy that owned a dealership and sold out right before i bought mine. I have a big horn mega cab. 4.10 rears, led rear lights. Mine did come with a dampend tailgate. It's standard on the mext package up or an option on these. It's remember, ram has 5 trim levels and ours is 2nd to the bottom. I'm going to buy a bed step on Amazon for 100 bucks. I got 11 mpg on mine new. I now have 13k miles. I live in the Appalachians. To the east of me is kinda flatish, west are the mountains. Going the speed limit ish east i can get up to 19 on a good day, 17 going west. I baby my truck. Pulling the horses i can get 12-15. Depending on weather and elevation etc. Gm is owned by china since 2009 and ford feels cheap.

    I like the chrome. My arms are the soft drop on the tail gate . The steps in the bed of GM's are nice but you can buy running board's that run to the wheel well and you could have ordered them from ram if you pre ordered you truck . Or you could have worked it out when you made your deal on your truck.
    On the mpg's does your truck have the 4.11 rear end? I have 3.73 and get close to 13 mpg's and 17 highway. The funny this my ram pulls my skid steer better than my f350 dump truck 6.2 gas 4 30 gears. And that ford is a pig on gas.

      Yeah the chrome is starting to grow on me but I always do love the blacked out trucks but the side steps were already installed on the truck but as a landscaper I need to dump grass bags in the bed and since I have tall sides on I need to dump it from the back and just having that side step would be so nice. Yes i do have the 4.10 in the truck i chose to get that but the mpg I really expected there just were not many cons I could find on the truck for a video as i really only drove it home 1200 miles and then for a week or two but to some people who would not use it for work might really care about the mgp

      I got the 6.4 for work but to people who would not use the truck for work I fell like the mpg being low would be a pro for them and the chrome is because its a work truck and spending 4-5k just for some black accents is crazy they should not be charging that much for black parts and even though the easy open gate is super easy to install when you spend 65k that should be on every truck! I was pretty limited because at the time there were very few things that I did not like after time I'm sure ill find things but when I made this those were the basics.
