What lessons this boss fight teached us is:
1) We have to STOP asking how would be a boss if fought in his prime
2) We have to STOP asking how would be a boss if he wouldn't be on an animal (lesson that we already learned with Nameless King years ago but apparently forgot)
Fighting a character at their peak is good if it wasn’t a boss that’s ALREADY IN THE GAME.
I bet no one would bat an eye if we were to fight ultimate Godwyn instead of a boss whose design didn’t change a bit
@@morayeel344 I don't think you know what "design" is
@@Sentry_The_ big radahn ≠ small radahn ?
@@morayeel344 the boss design is very different;
The game design is totally another thing;
Your only problem is that they just took the same character twice, yours is an opinion, not a critic
@@Sentry_The_ sorry for wasting your time but after pondering about it for a while I have concluded I don’t really give a shit about who the final boss is.
Still, having prime bosses would be a treat if the player character didn’t have the same moveset since ds1 and actually disposed of proper abilities like in Sekiro
This man refuses to stagger wtf, he got hit by like 10 full charged colossal swings
i think the reason why is because his combos cause enough time to pass for him to regenerate that poise, so you'd need to be hitting him a lot more frequently (probably with a slightly lighter weapon) to actually break his poise
@@thewhitejawa the mistake many people make is not being greedy enough. your hp is a resoure meter, your red flask restores it, if you can be greedy enough to make the right trades you can stance break, crit and heal with no real loss. this is ESPECIALLY true for heavy weapons, I did this fight with the super long recovery frames of Giant Hunt forcing me to take damage from over half of his follow up combos and it never felt impossible.
@@ShadowAraun literally me i tried using giant hunt on all bosses as much as i could
He might also be on ng+
@@ShadowAraunGiant Hunt is an ash of war right? Im a Stronk build, and Im stuck on him currently (I use Giant Killer I think its called that, its the giant hammer) Any advice or a good weapon I should try to level up to combat him with?
I loved when you whiffed and then turned around and looked at the camera.
Honestly I don’t know if you can hit him during that move. Had the same thing happen to me when he did the beam attack. Maybe I’m wrong though?
@@TNumbers No I think you're right, once he's all glowy, he can't be hit.
@@TNumbersyes, Radahn completely loses his hurtbox on the teleport/charge move at 2:24. It happens pretty early too. There were many times where I’d try to punish him with a rolling R1 as an immediate follow up and the attack wouldn’t even connect, before he’d even started glowing.
BROOOO I've been using the Godslayer Greatsword in my entire DLC playthrough and I did not want to respec. This mfer has been kicking my ass for days now, I appreciate the video so much man.
Use that charge R2 and regular r2 man. It’s insanely effective to poke this big dumbass with a colossal sword he goes down super fast with the poise break physic too. I was able to no hit his entire first phase and break his posture before using a single flask. Then shit got wild
just use the guard counter tear you do so much poise damage
I was trying to use incantations. It didn’t work and I ended up respecing. Keep at it. You’ll get there.
@@eldiandevil You can use one incantation: Scarlet Aeonia. You can facetank one combo from him in first phase to land one, but it only takes one to settle in the rot. In second phase he resets the rot so you'll have to do it again when he uses his opening light of Miquella attack. Use Lord's Divine Fortification or consumables to survive the holy spam damage. Considering how few openings he has, ticking rot will do wonders while you are busy rolling and healing. It is also the most lore appropriate ending for this bs.
Don't worry, there are many other dex faith weapons in this game
You genuinely make this fight look easier than it is. Props to you on your mastery 🙏
Does he really? The fight is as easy as it seems in the video if you learn it as well
@@Carsu12 you just couldn't not be insufferable could you
I honestly think it would have been cool if the Godskin/Godslayer equipment did bonus damage against Miquella, Radagon, and Elden Beast, kinda like Black Knight or Abyss Watcher equipment got bonuses against Demons or Dark-affiliated enemies in DS3. In general, that sort of stuff gives nice gameplay context to the story.
The thing is that godslayer equipment has been canonically depowered by Maliketh sealing the rune of death. That's why the flame is white; it's been robbed of its strength and rendered mostly harmless.
I also beat them with a colossal, loved the boss fight to bits. Giant Hunt is an awesome punish, since it deals 3 to 4 thousand damage depending on your build, while also having insane posture damage and having a low stance, making you dodge some of the bosses swings.
How tf did you get 3-4K damage out of Giant Hunt? I was running a heavy GUGS with Giant Hunt, stacking Golden Vow, FGMS, and Shard of Alexander and I was hitting him for about 2700. I was on ng+2 tho, so maybe it’s his added defense. Had to reinfuse to cold and started using Chilling Mist, which eventually got the job done

i think colossal weapons are great. The poise break can be op many times. I remember killing midras second try because i'd break his stance every 3 attacks i'd land with devonia's hammer. Very well played sir, thy strength befits a crown.
The aftershock attack looks like a modder made it lol, finally beat him with a antspur rapier good job.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that garbage. It's like they didn't have enough time to make an interesting moveset.

Godslayer flame to kill a god
Very well done! I did mine with Rakshasa armor, Ascetic mask and Fire Scorpion Charm. Took me forever and a day, but Backhand Blades came in clutch with their fantastic punish/counter potential. I’ll consider using GSGS in my next run or something similar because of this video; seems fun! Hope you enjoyed the DLC, friend.
I beat dark souls (1-3) with a Zweihander, I beat Elden Ring with a Zweihander, I started the dlc with a Zweihander, and I’ll be damned if not standing over his corpse with a Zweihander no matter how many days it takes.
He’s weak to thrust damage, Zwei might be the play
Zwei poke is the best poke.
Then you’ll probably love the new Fire Knight’s greatsword! I love it precisely because it is like a remixed Zweihander.
Zwei is perfectly good against him. those charged heavy pokes will do chunks.
@@michaeljohnston8891 as far as I'm concerned this boss isn't weak to anything, just less resistant to holy and scarlet rot in first phase, but in second phase not anymore.
honestly watching you fight this made me understand how to dodge his attacks, its so clean - good job
I ended up literally just facetanking the fight to clear it. Took some tinkering to get enough resistance, but it *is* possible
This is going to be my experience of fighting him with the winged scythe isn’t it
MEGA props for the fucking godslayer finish, insane fight dude
When he goes into the air and his spirit or whatever does the multiple slams, that shits is badass
Nice finish with the AoW! Beautifully done, this should give people hope.
I ended up having to swap to Nagakiba with Unsheathe, so props to you for being a true Godslayer!
GREAT work, man. So much discipline at the end to not get greedy.
This video inspired me to try and beat him with the Greatsword of Messmer's red knights. Using his AoE as time to cast Flam Grant me Strength is brilliant for weapons like the Godslayer that deal both physical and fire damage. I'm definitely trying it out.
These dodges are insane thanks bro I leanred from this
this ability finisher felt personal-
Commenting for the algorithm bc I fw your videos heavy 🙏
I did Dual collosal jump attacks shit took 7 hours
I saw a video of the final boss early on and legit thought it was a modded boss
WELL DONE just beat this fight with the b;ack blade today and its crazy hard... u played so gracefully and calmly this healed my soul
Fantastic use of Leda’s armor!
Very well done. Despite being a GUGS player I have beaten him twice, once with GUGS + mimic and once solo with a greatshield and antspur. This has motivated me to do it one more time but solo and with a colossal weapon.
Damn great fight thought you were gunna no hit for a second there well done I was trying to beat him with the Black blade had to resort to Blasphemous blade semi cheese needed mimic also 😅
EXCELLENT job finished him with Queen's Black Flame
From someone who just recently beat him with a build very similar to yours down to the very same weapon and with almost the exact amount of Scadu Fragments - 16 blessing, most likely - you had here I salute you, sir, very well done. My successful attempt felt definitely less polished than yours
Man I used this sword for most of the dlc but during my tries against him he just despawned and died gg on actually doing it
the final hit being the blackflame is so fitting with the lore of it lol
It looks so easy when the fight is in more than 10 FPS
That was very smooth! Well flight mi lord 🙌
Done him on Sunday with Sacred Fire Knight colossal sword, took me about 113 tries! Lovely boss
Great work. Loved this boss already, but this made me realized how much fair it actually is. Lots of windows for every weapon
only attack i have issue with is the 1-2 cross combo, and the fps issues in phase 2, but apart from that he's a fine boss imo👍
@@ch1ckensandwich420yeah that combo needs a fix since it is basically undodgiable unless you use the tear that increases the power of guard counters
My biggest issue is just visual clutter that genuinely hurts my eyes to look at for more than just a few attempts due to how aggressive and how much hp he has.
@@swift7842 I think thats fair, an option to lower visual effects wouldnt hurt anyone 💀
As a pure strength build with two greatswords, i dont know whether to be relieved or horrified
So I dont have to? But now I want to! This looks sick af.
I was waiting the entire time for the ash of war amazing
This fight legit reminded me of fighting the nameless king in dh3 for the first time
insane work dude this video for some reason made me proud
That was very impressive. I love the Godslayer Greatsword. Always fun to see it being used
No, now I HAVE TO i am loyal to my beautiful dragonslayer
Beat him no summons with the starscourge greatswords after like 150+ attempts. It was brutal, but I adore this boss
I was hoping you'd end with the weapon art. Was not disappointed.
I'm Impressed, didn't think it was possible to beat him with a colossal sword. I never needed a shield until this fight. I used a fully upgraded fingerprint shield so i practically took no stamina damage, and the antspur rapier infused with cold (this guy is weak to frost and scarlet rot). It took only a couple of tries.
Colossal sword honestly ain’t even that bad for him if it has thrust heavy attack. I used meteoric ore great sword and just hit em with the R2 heavy thrust attack Everytime I had an opening. Tons of openings in first phase for 2 entire charged R2s as well. Shit was an easier time than renalla when I was still using great katana with insane bleed buildup
Souls fans will say this is the only way to beat the boss then say you chessed him somehow anyway.
Good stuff man, made him look easy!
nahh that decision for the last hit was sick 👏🏼
"what a sick way to fight, eh" Figuring out the timing for the charged heavy is soo important on this guy. I personally relied on the roll n poke and occasionally hit him with the giants hunt AoW.
My man is slowly progressing to kill final dlc boss everyday until new fromsoft game comes out😂
Did him with dual great spears so I feel your pain
I actually took him down with Maliketh's gs. Took a lot of attempts but with buffs, it did viable damage
That’s wild, I’m pretty sure his holy defense is ridiculous
I beat him with the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword and it was torturous
nicely done. i prefer this to a no hit since i can see your reaction to a couple instances of taking damage but you still fought insanely well
Wow. This is real godslayer great sword.
2:25 bro said "damn this your lord?" 😭
Glad they finally fixed the hyper armor on the Godslayer Greatsword.
Well done, congrats on the victory :)
Boss gets 25 swings, you get one, count em, one swing. If you take two then you will be demolished
Which is garbo game design. Does look cool tho

*Me, who beat Radahn with a Zweihander:* Well... about that
Nicely done! I can say now that I can dodge all but his criss cross attack. The second hit on that always connects now matter what I do.
Light rolling backwards then forward or using the backstep talisman seems ti work
@@b-d9099 Sounds like bad game design to me. Honestly the only attack he has that's actually terrible
Beautiful fight. I recently beat him with my meteoric ore greatsword, but it was WAY messier. And I needed mimic tear 😔
I had the same exact strat, charge talisman and meteoric ore greatsword for me. good run dude
Dodge, dodge, dodge, poke. Dodge, dodge, dodge, poke. This and shield-poking seem to be the only viable strategies for Radahn. Forget spellcasting. He move so fast and can close the distance so quickly that anything short of the fastest (and weakest) spells will guarantee he'll hit and interrupted you. I bet you didn't even feel safe/comfortable using your Ash of War until the very end because you knew that the whole animation would take too long otherwise. Every other boss gives you enough leeway that it feels like almost any build you can think of can be viable in some fashion. Against Radahn you're hyper limited to a very small pool of feasible builds. Honestly, this boss disappoints me on so many levels. But you did a good job here regardless. Well done.
Also disappointing lore-wise. Felt so shoehorned. Godwyn deserved that spot
@@kirkginoabolafia3650 There are times when I think they originally planned to use Godwyn but for some reason switched to Radahn at the last second.
@@lordtrinen2249 Can you elaborate? I didn't found anything about it.
@@Yuki-on9yc It's not the presence of something but the absence of something that makes me think this, specifically the absence of ANY lore hinting at a connection between Miquella and Radahn. I'm sure all the Demigods interacted with each other at some point, given that they're all siblings, but the only ones we have any record of Miquella interacting with or showing affection towards were his twin sister Malenia and his older half-brother Godwyn. He really seemed to care about Godwyn and in Castle Sol there was evidence that Miquella was trying to give his brother a "true death" after the Knight of the Black Knives. It would've been very believable if we discovered that Miquella and Godwyn had some sort of vow and the former was planning to use Mohg's body as a new vessel for his undead brother's soul. Instead we got Radahn. I can't find a single mention of Miquella and Randahn having an interaction, let alone a relationship. Closest we have is the Malenia/Radahn fight but I always assumed that was the result of Malenia trying to take his Great Rune, maybe on her brother's behalf or her own. But certainly no hints that it was anything more than that. This whole affair is either the result of a last minute script change and they forgot to go back and add hints of a Miquella/Radahn connection or just surprisingly poor writing with no build-up, resulting in what they call an "ass-pull".
And yet people will still say using spells trivializes the entire game….
That was executed so clean, props🤘🏽
I'm just now noticing that the Gloam-Eyed Queen's Sword is spiral shaped like a lot of the iconography in the DLC....
I fought for about 3 hours with the Godslayer and ended up swapping to the Backhand Blades. Most fun part of colossals is stance breaking imo but I think in phase 2 he just recovers his stance during all the time he's just in the air. I had to play perfect to get any and I don't play that well most attempts lol. The fight was super fun with backhand blades tho so I'm glad I swapped, Blind Spot and the fast rolling attack turns this fight into just pure violence on both sides.
I like colossal swords in this fight simply due to their high single hit damage and high status buildup. I wound up beating him with a frost GUGS
'Your strength... extraordinary'
FINAL BLOW WITH ASH OF WAR WAS DOPE AF
very close to a no hit run
well done
I was running a str/arc build, and tried out a bunch of different weapons. Stone club, banished knight greatsword, ancient metioric ore blade, putrescence cleaver, sword lance, all blood infused if possible ofc. All of them worked decently well, but lacked something.
In the end a blood infused greatsword (the colossal one) got me through. The super fast but still high damage rolling attacks combined with the bleed allowed me to play super safe and waste a bunch of punish windows on healing, while still putting out good damage.
I also got a super lucky bleed at the very end hah, allowing me to just barely finish him off with no flasks and less than half health remaining
Did the same with the new meteoric great sword, Rakshana armor, two handed talisman, and axe talisman. Maybe should’ve tried magic scorpion talisman as well for maximum damage🧐. Anyways I was chunking with every charged R2 it was so fun. Helps because he’s weak to pierce and the MO Great sword does piercing with charges R2s.
Fun fact: the godslayers attack speed is actually closer to a greatsword rather than its colossal contemperaries.
Also it is very cool and awesome and should get a damage because reasons.
meanwhile my sorry is out there trying to hit the weapon art for the elemer sword without being instantly reduced to red mist
You’re never gonna have time to fully charge it. Uncharged might still be safe, but idk if the damage will be worth it. Considering you’re likely running a str/arc build, I’d recommend a blood infused GUGS with Giant Hunt, Mohg’s Spear (he’s actually kinda squishy against thrust damage), or the Bloodfiend Arm since it does an absolutely ungodly amount of blood buildup. Status effects are your friend against this boss. I’m typically a str/fth build, but I wound up using a frost GUGS to defeat him
you could theoretically make it work, because the fully charged ash does so much damage that you'd only need to land 4-6 to kill radahn. However, as the commenter above said, the charge takes so long that you'd need to identify very specific long punish windows, and only use it during those
@@michaeljohnston8891pierce is the best physical damage type against him, I beat him with a meteoric ore greatsword

I beat him with the greatsword of solitude my first time and it was actually crazy how hard it was to stagger him. you need to go for fully charged R2's and hope the move RNG's are good so he doesn't recover too much stagger, if all goes well it takes about 2-3 charged R2's in a relatively short time frame and that's WITH the physick that makes you deal more stance. later on my 2nd run I did him with carian slicer and man was that way easier to deal damage with lol.
CLEAN FINISHER!!!
I beat him with malikeths black blade using a charged heavy attack build. It was very fun. It’s was how I killed him the first time. Also I didn’t use jump attacks.
FromSoftware by learning Nexus mod
Spent several hours attempting it with colossal sword, but I ended up switching to heavy thrusting sword and got the fight fairly quickly. I normally love the heavy weapon playstyle, but this fight just feels unnecessarily punishing with how sluggish your animations are and how much damage you can take off of a single mistake. I think what really killed my motivation was that Radahn has such insane stance recovery that charged and jumping attacks are barely worth it. If I'm going dozens of attempts without getting a single stance break in phase 1 despite staying aggressive and doing mostly optimal punishes, then at a certain point I might as well just focus on getting higher total DPS with spamming R1 whenever possible (which is not how I enjoy playing colossal weapons)
Yea I fought him with a zweihander for 4 hours and it just isn’t worth it, you give up way too many openings.
All that and not a single stance break is crazy.
