I live in California now, and I always use this jingle when I need to see if there is a Detroiter around my age in the crowd. I just say out loud "Here, dawg! C-mon, dawg!" and when I here the song come back at me, I've got 'em. :D
@xzxOUTLAWxzx Lmfao!!! me too!! I will say “c’mon dawg!” just like the commercial. I’m singing this damn song now while typing. I wonder if Ray Whitfield ever considered the longevity of that commercial he made. 30-40 years later, its a staple of the community, even though his dealership is long gone.
@xzxOUTLAWxzx Negative. Ray Whitfield Ford has been turned into a “Drive Time” car dealer. The only Ford dealer on telegraph is further south. It is the old Walt Lazar Chevrolet Dealer.
This just popped into my head and I have not lived in Michigan 17 years......... me and dawg want you to go to Telegraph road, right now, git a good deal.......
growing up in london, Ontario in the 80s and 90s.... mel farr to the rescue, sparky selling fords, father and son consruction, vernors and this commercial.... great memories
So I was calling my dog in after he was taking a "break" in the backyard and said "C'mon Dog!". Instantly stuck this song in my head and I haven't heard this song is 30 years. It should win some kind of amazing jingle award.
This is just one of those commercials you never forget and was forever etched into my mind back in the 80s. I always random sing or some other random old jungle while I'm working.
I moved to Alabama back in 2007 and for some reason while I was washing dishes this little song was stuck in my head. My mom couldn't remember it so I had to find a youtube video to show her. I am so glad we have youtube to look at old commercials and videos of funny or important things! Its like the biggest video archive!!
I still sing this jingle in my head 20 years later - effective ad! Save for the fact I didn’t recall the dealership until now, just that it was on Telegraph Road.
NEVER in human history will there EVER be a more MEMORABLE and PROFOUND regional used car commercial to enter into the human consciousness. It’s practically a gateway to heaven.....
Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yahooo!!! Get a good deal! HA HA HA HA HA! Love it.....this song is like my coming of age anthem. We used to sing this diddy all the time as teenage brats in the 80's.
I remember this from waaaay back! Still rings in my head after all these years. Goes to show if you have a good hook line, people will remember it for years to come.
I just called in my dog and remembered this jingle, typed in the first few lines to see if anything would show up.. and POW! Flashback City, population 1 little boy watching Saturday morning cartoons!
Grew up watching this on the south shore of Nova Scotia, too. On "cable" TV at that (the CBS feed came from Detroit, ABC and NBC came from Bangor). I still find myself singing this sometimes; brain space well used, that's for sure. Never bought a Ford, though (sorry, Ray).
Did they switch ABC & NBC feed from Bangor to Detroit by then to see that commercial on other stations? Newfoundland did in late 1985 while Winnipeg got WJBK and WDIV in 1986.
I was asked to name a line from an old commercial, and "Here Dawg, come on Dawg!" was the FIRST thing to pop in my head. Amazing that such a goofy, regional commercial still sticks with me decades later. The marketing worked, probably far better than the creator of that commercial EVER imagined! :)
Ray Whitfield Ford is now Taylor Ford and about 2 miles south of their old location. The great Detroit radio voice, Lee Alan doing VoiceOver, and former Detroit radio voice Jerry St. James singing the jingle.
I'm saying the commercial - that is, the animated bit - couldn't have been CREATED any later than 1981. I remember seeing it back in '81, and almost certainly even earlier. And it was obviously still on the air in '89 or later, when uofmrules saw it. And presumably it was still being aired into the 1990s, updating it year-by-year as needed but keeping the "Me and dawg..." intact.
Yup, Mel Farr, former Detroit Lion FB got himself a Ford dealership after his playing days, called of course, Mel Farr Ford. Located at 10 Mile Rd and Greenfield in Southfield, Mi.
I'm curious, are these dealerships still around, or have they closed down for good? Because, I stumbled upon this commercial and until now, I haven't seen it in years.
Just sang this and my wife is looking at me like I was nutz. Now why we had Detroit Cable on the Canadian Prairies is beyond me but it convinced me to never ever visit Detroit.
I live in California now, and I always use this jingle when I need to see if there is a Detroiter around my age in the crowd. I just say out loud "Here, dawg! C-mon, dawg!" and when I here the song come back at me, I've got 'em. :D
I'll try that here in Alaska!
@@anonymousdude9099 trust true Detroiters know this 🤣🤣🤣
Get a good deal!!!! only a Detroiter would recognize that jingle!
@xzxOUTLAWxzx Lmfao!!! me too!! I will say “c’mon dawg!” just like the commercial.

I'll see your 17 years and raise you 28.
What's wrong? Spring takes to long to get here?😂😂😂😂😂
growing up in london, Ontario in the 80s and 90s.... mel farr to the rescue, sparky selling fords, father and son consruction, vernors and this commercial.... great memories
Every dog I've owned knows this song.
So I was calling my dog in after he was taking a "break" in the backyard and said "C'mon Dog!". Instantly stuck this song in my head and I haven't heard this song is 30 years. It should win some kind of amazing jingle award.

It's 2020, I've lived in northern Canada all my life and this song popped into my head

I live in Canada but got a Detroit TV channel and I love this jingle
I still sing this jingle in my head 20 years later - effective ad! Save for the fact I didn’t recall the dealership until now, just that it was on Telegraph Road.

I was walking my dogs the other night, and said "come on dogs" and this commercial jumped into my head.
One Of The Most Classic Detroit Commercials EVER.
What in blue blazin?..... I'll be hornswaggled.

NEVER in human history will there EVER be a more MEMORABLE and PROFOUND regional used car commercial to enter into the human consciousness. It’s practically a gateway to heaven.....
Weeellllll.... Mer Farr Superstar dealership commercials, around the same time as this, was very memorable too!
I will never forget this jingle 😆 🤣
I used to work at Alan Ford back in 1997. It later became Bloomfield Ford.

Im from Eastern Canada and I can't forget this song... Thats a good jingle lol
Mushroomhead
YES! Me too! and I used to hear this commercial all the time growing up in Taylor and the surrounding area!!

AAAHHHHHH!!!!!! its been at least 20 years since i've seen this!!! This just made my day lol! Thanks for posting!!
Even today everyone I know who grew up in the windsor area, like me, remembers that jingle.
I was singing that to my self about 3 months ago down here in knoxville lol after i left michigan.
Pure brilliance. Suburban Detroit has left its mark forever!
The Great Lee Alan doing the voiceover on this one!
i still sing this song sometimes- and i haven't seen this in like 20 + years...

Absolutely amazing!
Holy shit, someone actually uploaded this! I remember this like it was yesterday...
My dad always sung that jingle thinking wtf is he singing, well now I know
Ray Whitfield Ford is now Taylor Ford and about 2 miles south of their old location. The great Detroit radio voice, Lee Alan doing VoiceOver, and former Detroit radio voice Jerry St. James singing the jingle.
Greatest jingle ever recorded.
.
"C-Mon DAWG! ...Here DAWG!!"
Am from Detroit area..i remember watching these!
.
My childhood
You wasn't there Metro Detroit 80s and 90s!!
This has been stuck in my head forever, good ole channel 50...oh yea I'm still in the D
This was just on the radio 3 minutes ago. That's the reason im here now. Been a long time since i heard that.
Awesome commercial.
I'm saying the commercial - that is, the animated bit - couldn't have been CREATED any later than 1981. I remember seeing it back in '81, and almost certainly even earlier. And presumably it was still being aired into the 1990s, updating it year-by-year as needed but keeping the "Me and dawg..." intact.
The animated part goes back to at least 1978. It was swiped from another dealership. ua-cam.com/video/HoG0WQd5ouU/v-deo.html
Still well into the '90s.
Same animation used for the Dick Smith Ford dealership in Raytown, Missouri.
Every time I drive on Telegraph this comes back.
'Here, Dog, common Dog!!!
old school!
Somebody figure out how to turn that song into a ringtone.
Cool
LOL Why am I just now getting Teleg Raph Road after all these years... HAHAHAHHAAAAAA!
Aw ya!
There was a commercial just like this in Omaha, Nebraska in the mid to late 1970's, but instead of "Telegraph Road" , it was "H.P. Smith Ford".
Alan37762 Later the H.P. Smith Ford property was razed several years ago (when it was Lithia Ford) and today it's a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market.
@uofmrules1 Dunno 'bout the live-action half, but the animated bit dates from 1981 at the absolute latest
That's so funny, after all these years, they brought the jiggle back, just with a cheap computer animated dog singing the jiggle.
OMG...I was just singing this song...RIGHT NA...GET A GOOD DEAL!!! Too bad Ray Whitfield is now Taylor Ford. It's just not the same.
Oh. My. Cow.
And just like that, I'm home.
I can't get it to leave my head
hell ya!
Riggght Nowwwww!
yeah... me too AutopsyReport22 lol...
LMAO!!!! I'm so making a gif of this!
I live in Michigan and I’ve seen a newer version of this
I usually say this to the dog but I cannot sing that flawlessly
Memories
@uofmrules1 It couldnt have been 81 at the latest because I was born 84 and I still remember this commercial well!

@@ffat999 Mel Farr Superstar is the place to buy a car!
Yup, Mel Farr, former Detroit Lion FB got himself a Ford dealership after his playing days, called of course, Mel Farr Ford. Located at 10 Mile Rd and Greenfield in Southfield, Mi.
Lol only other thing half as famous is Mel Farr superstar.
Or the Detroit zoo my make up...
Worst Jingle ever! hahaha
My dog wouldn't come out of a room he wasn't supposed to be in just now, so I said, "Here dog, c'mon dog!" And now I'm on UA-cam...
Should be gangster rap nowadays in Taylor
Animated by Oscar Winning (Crunchbird) artist Ted Petok, of Detroit!
Voiceover by ???
I'm curious, are these dealerships still around, or have they closed down for good? Because, I stumbled upon this commercial and until now, I haven't seen it in years.
I just tweeted my impression of this delightfully twangy ear worm, @Faber4Real
Wow, a Ford A-1 dealers sign. That's not something you see too often these days, is it?
Mushroomhead anyone?
Just sang this and my wife is looking at me like I was nutz. Now why we had Detroit Cable on the Canadian Prairies is beyond me but it convinced me to never ever visit Detroit.
Lmfaooooo
