I remember this episode. The reason he didn't know her age or even ask is bc they met in a CLUB where he'd played w/his band occasionally. She also had a fake ID. Tbh, I don't know many people who when finding a hook-up in a BAR will ask, "hey, btw I see you have an ID showing you're old enough to get in here and drink, but how old are you really??" Girl, you’re making excuses here. In America, you know the difference between a 21 year old (legal age to drink in a bar) and a 14/15 year old. In fact, you know the difference between that and an 18 year old. You cannot mistake a child for an adult, anyone who claims that’s the case…. Is either ignorant or wanting to believe it’s a valid excuse. Have you ever slept with a minor because you thought they were older? No? Didn’t think so. Stop spreading that disgusting excuse.

@@oliverwills3556 I don't think that is an age of consent for anything... They're not talking about sexual consent in this video.. It's too young. I wouldn't allow my child at 14 to sign a waiver saying she could go on her own field trip at school. A child's brain is not fully developed until the age of 25. They're foreshadowing of actions Doesn't even begin till 13... Which means they can't look at an event and think what are the implications of this event in the future. How will this affect my life? Because their brain is not developed enough to think that way yet..
How many of us will let our 13-14 olds Walk down the aisle and marry a 25 My 30-year-old because they're in love? We all know the answer to that. They're too young to make a lifelong decision at 13 years of age! That's why it's a crime in America. Anyone under a certain age to get married without a parent's consent.
Scientific fact.. That's why people are not allowed to vote till at least the age of 18 and drink until 21 (other countries may be different) Because they're not grown up enough to take on that responsibility.

They refuse to acknowledge the fact that it is common nowadays. They only care about the fact they haven't seen such people and will argue with the person themselves if they even meet them, saying there's no way they're the age they said instead of how they look.
My mother is in her mid 30's, yet I, her own daughter, often mistaken her for 20. She has been mistaken to be MY daughter and my sister's younger sibling.
I have a niece that when she was 9 y/o, I accidentally mistaken her for 29 y/o when she was doing the same make up as my sister for a traditional ceremony. They're only 10 years apart! It was just a simple light make up, yet she somehow looks far older than she actually is!
People can have different looks than their actual age, and it is far more common these days.

When I was 14, my cousin and I stayed at my grandpa's hotel for Spring Break. These two guys checked in when we were behind the desk. Later, we ran into them and started chatting. I remember thinking they were cool and having a lot of fun. They asked if we went to school in the town (it's a college town, but the middle and high scholls shared the same name as the college), I said yeah, I'm a Freshman at Blank. He was a Junior somewhere and 23. I remember very distinctly not thinking anything was wrong. I wasn't a partier, I didn't date, didn't socialize that much.
I think one of them asked, "So you're... 19?" And I said, "Oh, no, I'm 14." After a couple "You're joking"s, the conversation ended pretty quickly. I still remember being disappointed because we were having fun. I didn't want to hook up or drink with them or anything, but I did still want to hang out with them.
All that to say... me at 14 yrs old had NO CLUE! Brains are still 10 years from being fully developed. It did not cross my mind how much trouble I could have brought those guys. (This is not trying to excuse her. This is me saying how stupid I was.)

Some youth tell the correct age and they still don't walk away. The youth are NOT bringing shame or embarrassment just because scummy people won't walk away. Finding out you were an adult he couldn't prey on was probably what upset him too. He thought you were 16 and hit on you that is so horrible. A lot of guys do lie about not knowing they were young too. People up in the comment section acting like this is the common of the girl lying and him not knowing. I looked older at 16 and so does my kiddo. When she was 12 grown men hit on her. I play a game when in stores called guess her age. Too many times I didn't get the response I wanted (when I state her age which should be a mix of shock and disgust they saw a child that way because those guys you know are going to check themselves in the future when they think someone is an adult). One guy who was maybe 18 or 19 though he was awesome. He was a clerk at a local store. He was looking at her a lot in that way so I played the how old do you think she is game. He said 18 or 19 and I said 12. The look of shock and confusion and horror on his face was the exact response you always want with something like that. I never called him on flirting with her. He knew he was hence the look of disgust after it all settled in (that he was flirting with her). From then on total ally on keeping guys aware she was 12/13/14. Saying to me loudly if some dudes were looking at her in the check out "I still can hardly believe she's only (add the age she was) she looks so much older. Sometimes it stopped them from checking her out. Not always 😢 because some guys really think kids are fair game when they are adults (hebephiles and ephebophiles. Types of pedo/child touchers for older kids like preteens to 17 hebephiles for the preteen early teens) 😢. However then they get the I will cut your balls off glare from me and they would back off.
Other times I've done this in other stores with young adult men checking her out often the women nearby/clerks usually hearing me ask to guess her age would be pretty close. The guys never seem to hear them talk and if they did they would be able to tell they are kids. You can hear her talking here and she sounds like an 8th grader.
Dudes if you want us to believe you didn't know most of us still feel it's their faults. This man is a doctor. Having a conversation is important. Had he bothered to really talk to her he could tell she was a kid. It's still his fault for not covering his a$$.
They don't want to talk to them because they don't want to know not really. They want a leg over and have decided it's going to be that person and having a conversation may cause them to not want to be with them. They may not mesh etc. So yes being hoebag dudes not even having a real conversation with them they deserve the prison time when it turns out they slept with kids. I don't believe for a second the maturity level of this kid had he actually tried to talk to her prior beyond just questions that he wouldn't have known her age.
Cover your a$$ out there hookups can exist with real conversations still. Ask about things kids won't know. I'm a phone sex operator. If I suspect a caller is a child I ask them their bday. They avoid the year because they NEVER do the math of year they would be born before faking they are older. Sure they may have fake id's in clubs but most of them don't bother to look at the year actually ask them when they were born without looking at their ID and they will stumble because they didn't think it through that much. We know what year we were all born when you see them trip up or take time (doing the math in their head) of year born you know they are lying.

However when the parents found out that they were sexual together they had him charged with statutory rape and hes been listed as a registered sex offender ever since. He did nothing wrong but love her. He was going to marry her. Anyways his life was ruined before it started. He struggles getting work, housing, friends and so on. Here’s the dilemma with the evidence I have gathered from the comments and the short. Yes, hooking up with a minor is illegal. Let’s get this straight here. I hate pedos more than anything. BUT, what the girl did was also illegal. She made a fake IR then snuck into a club and most likely consumed alcohol while underage. Now I’m no expert in law, but it seems like this would fail under something like “I genuinely assumed she was this age” and if she was purchasing alcohol and/or at a 21+ club, any person would have likely assumed she was at the least 21. Now, not saying that Max sleeping with her isn’t HIGHLY ILLEGAL, but also he had a good defense too as the girl was the one doing things only a legal adult would do. So yeah.

I literally had never been told what year was the age of consent legally. I just knew everyone but me was hooking up. Never occurred to me HE would get in trouble simply because of our ages when neither of us would have gotten in trouble hooking up with someone our own age! Even though nothing happened, I have since felt guilty about the anxiety it must have caused him knowing an underage girl liked him. If I had ever been TOLD what the age of consent actually was, I would never have tried to flirt with him. I was old enough to know right from wrong. I knew breaking the law was wrong. Even if your teenager is having a baby and you want to know the gender and the teen wont tell you, there is nothing the doctor can do. If you dont believe me, if you check your health insurance and you dont see any of the claims for your preteen/teenage daughter (especially pharmacy claims) then you have to ask her to give you permission to view them

it depends on the type of healthcare being provided as well as that laws for that specific state. there a certain protected health conditions where institutes can keep information from the family. some for example are mental illnesses or pregnancy. from what i’ve seen it’s usually 14+.
it can seem ridiculous but think about it this way. let’s say im trans, i went to my psychiatrist and they officially diagnosed me with gender dysphoria. understandably i can tell the psychiatrist even as a minor, whether you personally agree with transgenderism or not, « don’t tell my parents, if they learn about this i could get thrown out ». if my state allows it, the psychiatrist must legally keep it confidential. the confidentiality is mainly for the purpose of safety for the minors who request it.

Children can 100% lie about their age, I'm sure they do very often, I know I did. That's not what the point I'm making. The point is that while 14 doesn't look that different to 18 in this video (due to it being a TV SHOW), in real life the difference is very different. Could there be exceptions, maybe, but majority of the time 14 year olds look young enough for an adult to know that maybe sleeping with them is not a good idea, especially because as you said, children can lie about their age.

@Sasuga_Skky ok, but not everyone looks their age. That's a fact. Some people look much older and some people look much younger. Also, it's important to consider the situation surrounding it all. In this situation, the people involved were in a club. It's not unreasonable to assume the person you're talking to is an adult. Especially if the person doing the assuming has been drinking. IN THIS CONTEXT THE GIRL IS IN THE WRONG. PERIOD. She snuck into a club with a fake ID and slept with a guy who thought she was an adult BECAUSE THEY MET IN A CLUB. Most people don't think to check the ID of the people they're talking to while in a club because there's an entire person for that. Also even if you do ask to see a fake ID, if you don't know what you're looking for and or are drunk, it's meaningless. This just convinces me the people paid to do their jobs don't know what their doing.

For anyone who's unaware or on the fence about the situation; there's a loophole the Doctor is using.
Hospitals are legally obligated to protect and conceal any treatment done to patients; it's called the "Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act" or HIPAA, and it extends to everybody, even minors. HIPAA Laws allow Parents to have access to their Children's medical records and treatment information as long as the Child consents.

@Theresalynn69 That's an entirely different matter altogether. The short answer is "yes"; while the long answer is "They can, but they're not supposed to."
All Doctors with a medical license adhere to the Hippocratic Oath, a set of ethical rules that state what doctors can and cannot do when treating any patients. HOW the doctors get paid is up to them; insurance is just the fastest standard. If they choose, a doctor can either do the treatment for free or receive an alternative form of monetary payment besides insurance.

    • @kidsmooth6549

That's not entirely correct. A parent acts as a personal representative of a minor child, which allows them access to medical records of the minor, with the exception of medical records wherein the minor consented to medical care without the consent of a parental representative. I think parents should have full access to all medical records of a child whilst under their care. It is the parents' duty to look after the welfare of their child. It's particularly prevalent in this day and age where kids can go to "school" one day as a boy and come back home as a "girl".

What world are you living in? Here in the USA, especially in the black community, there are men with upwards of 30 children by many different women. Although 4 to 6 children are common, much higher numbers are known. Also, sperm banks are known to be in close proximity of colleges and universities, especially in the early days of non-traditional ways to procreate. Those facilities had multiple donations from the same few donors. I remember watching a documentary around 2005 where 30 siblings were found living within 50 miles of each other. Their mothers used the same facility to get pregnant. There have been criminal cases of fertility doctors using their own sperm to impregnate patients. So, I recommend a DNA test before intimacy. This may seem outrageous and unnecessary. But, who wants to find out, as some have, that they are married with children to a sibling. It happens more often than you think.

@@GenXsinglefree Here in the USA racism is rampant, especially when it comes to those of African decent, and your comment is a perfect example of that.
Sperm banks are selective about who donates and donors need to go through various exams and procedures before being approved. The banks also limit how many children are conceived from one donor. The things you are describing are mostly fictions created for movies/TV, and the small kernel of truth that’s there happened in the 70s and 80s and have since been reformed. The doctors who used their own sperm are exceptions and not the standard. The lack of oversight that enabled doctors and facilities to act unethically has been rectified.
Things in documentaries are typically unusual or only selective to a small (or single) number of people - that’s why documentaries are made about them in the first place.

Agreed. It's crazy to keep such information from the very person who will be expected to foot the financial bills for everything. When she's old enough to literally pay for the consequences of her choices, then she can wave that patient confidentiality flag.

Parents do have the right to know about their children. If not open the door kick the kid(s) to the street and tell them to get a job. If a child wants to quit school and lay around the house and do nothing but play video games and just smoke weed or get into trouble, or even get girls pregnant with no job or money. No' not going to happen here. My hubby and I aren't going to support our children until they turn age 50 or whatever age. Children need to learn 3 things. Have an education. how to manage a bank account and to keep a job. My hubby and I have raised our 11 children. Not a one has failed with their education or with work their history. My hubby and I have been with each other 47 years now. So yea he and I both know with even our children know that if you want it. Work for it. The world owes them nothing. We as parents owe it to our children to raise them responsibly.

Nothing you said is relevant to the clip though. The girl needed to get tested for stds. If those records hadnt been confidential theres a good chance she wouldve just not gotten tested and walked around with an untreated std.

@ maybe back in the 80’s when it was actually possible to support yourself immediately once you reached adulthood and we had a much more twisted concept of love. Nowadays they just have dead kids and homeless kids, and the ones who get lucky are on a therapist’s client list for an extended period of time.

It's scary for a young man in his late teens or early 20s when it comes to dating. I had a couple close calls with young girls pretending to be women. And it's so easy for a 15 or 16 year old girl to pass for a young adult. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that anymore.

Actually, by law in the state of Illinois minors who are 12-17 are allowed consent in their health care. Other states have different age laws. In Ohio if you're 15 and can prove you're mature enough to make you health decisions, you can.

This sort of happened to a friend of mine. She met a guy in a bar, he had a beer in his hand when he introduced himself to her. Talked about his job, etc. They ended up going out & 6 months later, his mother shows up; turns out the guy was 15. My friend lost her cushy state job, lost her scholarships where she was finishing her degree, ended up in court and now has to register with the sex offender websites if she moves to a new place. It basically ruined her life. He LOOKED older. Full beard, 6'3", HAD A BEER IN HIS HAND, IN A BAR, & the job he talked about was construction. I thought he was an adult too. Its a fine line sometimes...

These laws NEED to be changed! Parents HAVE THE LEGAL AND PARENTAL RIGHTS to know what THEIR CHILDREN ARE BEING TREATED FOR!
This is why most Parents do not take their kids to the doctors!

If you want to know what your child discusses with the doctor, you need to cultivate a relationship with your child that will encourage them to willingly share these details with you, and be open-minded to talk about sensitive topics.
You don't have a right to find out against your child's will, what your child discussed with the doctor.
