My husband and I moved from New Jersey to Staunton two years ago. We love the charm of the town and the old style architectures.

I’ve lived in both places and I don’t think they are different enough to debate which one to live in. They are like 15 minutes apart. You can easily drive between them.

I think the biggest difference between the 2 is that Waynesboro is experiencing more new growth. A lot of new homes means a lot of new people perhaps a lot of new ideas and dreams blooming over there. All the new commercial shopping off 340 was not was there in 2000. It was just fields. I think growth is what Waynesboro needed for economic success though. With it came a bit of a housing boom too. Staunton will give home owners a bit different experience with deep roots of community and culture. I think Waynesboro is on it's way but for me it's very weird to see how much commercial intrusion occurred over there. Staunton has some of that but more on the outskirts. There are a lot of unwritten stories of why you might want to live and raise a family in either town. I have lived here in both towns since 1995 with a 10 year gap in the middle to CA and NY. But my Mom has been here longer. I will still put a vote for Staunton. This is knowing that anything in Waynesboro you might seek as entertainment or shopping is only 10-15 mins away. In this valley, it is nothing to travel a few extra minutes for some of the best egg for example ;).

If you’ve lived in a cultural city, you’d like the walk ability and cultural vibe of Staunton wins.

17:57 American Shakespeare center is the ONLY one in america that is an exact replica of Shakespeare’s original indoor theater. Also you left out the Museum of Photography which has an amazing collection.

8:11 Staunton has great restaurants and cafes and shops. It’s better than Charlottesville honestly. It’s walkable like European style city owing to its history as home of the coal barons of the 1920’s. All those franchise places are fine but also soul crushing. Staunton for the win.

I missed on a house in Staunton but am very happy with my house and location in Waynesboro. I feel like my house would cost me 300K more in Charlottesville and 100K more in Staunton as I'm walking distance from downtown. Waynesboro is a working class town, increasingly bedroom community to C-Ville. From what I've seen actually an impressive art, music and drama community, & park complex for a city of only 22K. Waynesboro has incorporated a lot of land, likely will lead Staunton in new house development for some time. Staunton is every bit the cute college town even though Mary Baldwin is no UVA, it has a notable culinary scene and Gypsy Hill Park is really nice. Fishersville is right between both of them, up and coming both in terms of new housing and growth around Augusta Medical Center.

Staunton has amazing culture and town. Better than Charlottesville to be honest. Shakespeare theater, classical music, great cafes and restaurants.
Waynesboro closer to Charlottesville and is a bit rougher given it is coming back from its past bad experience with DuPont chemical company. It has a bit depressed vibe but Northrop Grumman announced a 300 job facility there which could be great for jobs.

I just found your channel and this is the best video yet! I've decided to move to Shenandoah Valley but have not chosen my city yet. Have a few more trips planned to scout the area. These side by sides are very informative. Would be nice to see more information on medical facilities, gyms including public pools (indoor and outdoor), senior centers/ activities. Keep up the great work.

Waynesboro has one public pool at Ridgeview Park. The Y also has an indoor pool. Augusta Health in Fishersville was the result of Waynesboro Community Hospital and Staunton’s Kings Daughters Hospital. UVA hospital is 30-45 minutes away and Harrisonburg’s Sentara Hospital is the same distance. So you have excellent facilities in the Valley. Both Waynesboro and Staunton offer several gyms as well as a Y in both cities. Welcome to the Valley!

I've assumed that y'all discuss chains in your vids because many transplants ask about them. Personally, I'd like as much coverage of the downtown scene and parks or other amenities as you can provide without making your vids too long. I really liked this video for giving a more thorough idea about living in the area.

Waynesboro not "celebrating" a racist, warmongering president (Woodrow Wilson) is what makes Waynesboro a better choice.
