"In America you have to become nobody to become somebody"
Wisdom.
100% true
Not only in America, in every overseas country you go you have to be nobody to be somebody
Doing shift jobs to get that buck!
You've got to respect Andu A Nyumba. Hawa watu hujiamini na hujituma kujituma. He does not give a hoot about petty issues like pronunciation of words as many here kwa comments seem to only pick from this interview. Keep it on the grind Mr. Respect kibao kwako.
I'm currently in the boat that this guy is describing, came to the UK to do my Master's in Human Genetics and it is HARD! Surviving in these countries is the most isolating and depressing thing as a foreigner. Your money leaves you as soon as it comes cause of the high cost of living. But we'll make it in Jesus' name.
Eh Claire was wondering what happened to you lol...small world hope you've been good Richie from Strath.keep doing well
Utafariki wewe lol 😂. Jk u will make it
You will make it sis.
Hi Clare, Pole to hear your plight here in UK which can be very challenging as a new immigrant. Let me know which part you are I could pass your details to my wife as she may be able to guide ot support
Inshallah
The life lesson here: You manifest anything, you eventually attract it because the world is always ready to help you get whatever and wherever. Thank you Sir.
💯💯
This guy is really telling off my stories. That's how I started my journey to the US. Everywhere is all about hardworking and trusting yourself.
How do you get academic sponsors?
You are your own sponsor unless you are top student. Most have to work 60-80 hours a week to figure out how to pay for school.
Yes. People should stop criticizing his accent. I am glad he went to America and he did not try to change his accent. English is not our first language. Tell me which Muzungu has learnt our language and speaks fluently without an accent…hello..Most of them don’t even want to us speak our language let alone try to learn it. People need to wake up and embrace their own.
If you listen closely, his accent is changing. Just slowly.
@@okbuddyretard yes, you have to have an accent for you to be understood. I live in Canada and when talking to a white person I have to adjust my accent and that eventually sticks with you
Everyone has an accent, so no one should tell you that you have one. I never changed mine. They have to learn to understand me just like I have struggled and learn to understand them with saying "padon me." You don't need to change your accent for anyone.
Actually wazungu are jealous that we can speak more than one language which they can't understand but we hear everything they say.
@@winniemutuku8346 where in canada are you ?
Just like one of my uncles who went to the US way back and came back with such an accent 😂 slanging but still shrabing and we loved his stories because he was soo confident..thats the key to everything
I have a cousin almost 20years she came back home for good unless you are told she has lived in the US you wouldn't know her accent is still the same...but most importantly she came back with good money and investments.
😁😁😁😁😁😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣men ur kerreng me
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣oh my ribs
When u go to abroad age 18 and above it's hard to get the accent juu u are already used to speaking a certain way but take a child there 0 to 15yrs coz of school they even have to take new English classes so their accent will change pap
This guy is very confident of himself no wonder he has managed to survive the US.
Bado #bonga_na_jalas inakuanga, you need to sit with him down for a more detailed interview
Guy can survive all sorts of problems . Evidence from his confidence .
Until he said 'you have to ashieve it'😂😂😂,i just love this guy.The spirit in him🔥
The "Nyerian" in him,hehe

Lynn ngugi should come a d interview him. There we will be able to see the emotions running and a lot more that is untold. Good job Dr. Kinori.
Yeah very true.. Lynn Ngugi part
Definitely, lyn has a way of making the interview personal
Lynn Ngugi is fine. There's this other chap called Jeff Kuria, he'd do a wonderful one with this😂
Lynn gets to the core.i feel the interview was too short .he has alot to share 🙆🙆🙆🙆
@@itchybenjamin2761 4tt66ßá. Xxxxx,
Dr kingori is so spontaneous in his jokes something rare on most stand up comedian s in kenya
I am impressed with Jonah's intelligence! I pray that people watching this interview will understand the financial lessons underneath his stories. If you have read the Jewish Phenomenon, you will understand why people like Jonah eventually become very great people. God bless you!
Since 2015...
I think this is the Best ever show to me...
I have watched it twice.. but I still feel like watching it Again.. my Dream is to Go to the US though for the Meantime am In S.A
This guy huwa anasifiwa KIARITHAINI highschool hadi today. I did my kcse this year na tr's kept on telling us about him
In which county?
@@iconicwriters1305 Kenya. In central region. His school was my brother school lol🇰🇪😂. His story is epic I've been to that school bfr a. D seeing him here gives me goosebumps like Yoooh I have to do more.
We need more from this guy. Someone pick him up for a 1hr interview.
Wapi Jalas amuhoji 1hr
This show has earned my 5 star rating. THIS IS THE SHOW!!!
Nothing will ever beat sheer determination. Apart from the person chasing it, every other person thinks you are crazy. That fire that burns cannot allow you to not see your dreams through
Absolutely inspiring Jojo Show Cali. An unstoppable dream that is still being written. Excellent interviewer.
I loove that he stayed true to his roots (accent) it just shows how authentic he is. Some of us tukifika JKIA huwa tunasahau ata Kiswahili 😂😂
😂😂😂😂Naisha
I don’t know what you’re hearing…there is definitely and American accent in there. He must have sounded much more ‘kikuyu’ before leaving KE
Very funny. Know this guy.I live in the US. He is telling our story. It is a very humbling experience.
I trust God l wana make it to US too
Hey
I love such stories because this guy's story rhymes with mine and therefore let me encourage all of us to believe in ourselves
He needs to do more interviews telling this story to completion. But the greatest point he made in this entire interview is that "money is very tricky"
Living in America is not a bed of roses. Ik bcz I reside here. If you make a decent amount of money 💲 in Kenya, think twice before u quit that job. If you are jobless and hopeless, them America is for you. DM me for help
I like when he said, "In America you have to be nobody before you come somebody " it's true. Big up from Texas
We need a longer show for jojo the guy has alot of information and the same time he is very funny..
We need an unedited interview, or give the man a one hour interview. We need to learn more from him
Nyinyi watu mnacheka shrabbing, chekeni tu, but it doesn't define shit..My boss has an engineering PhD from Cambridge University and he speaks this way...wewe tweng tu ukiendelea kufuliza kama burukenge😅😅
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂

exactly bro, Kenyans judge ppl using the most irrelevant things, na wanaignore the important ones, ni kama talent .
Mi naheshimu huyu jamaa sana, endeleeni kujivunia fuliza limits zenu kapsaa😂
Pia malec wengine huko KU huwa unaskia I studied in Germany na zile accents za kikuyu wako nazo and they are shinning with their PhD 's
I agree on the conversion stupidity.A studio ( bedsitter)in Newyork goes for $1200( Ksh 120k) per month .$40k in America is nothing can be spent within two months but the same amount which translates to 4m can do a huge investment in Kenya.Anyway God bless America!
Really

Love this guy. Our Nyeri peeps are no joke. Proud of him 👏🏿
Definitely needs a longer interview. Also, he’s right about conversion rates, it’s just not an inverse relation
It's not easy in the US but we keep moving cos Kenyan's are hardworking and as he has said, the dollar is powerful but converting it into Ksh will eat you up. I can buy something for a dollar here but the same thing can not be bought for 100ksh back home.
The fact here is that we are inspired by this man.... We must believe in ourselves despite how low we are... Man we must get there... Dreams must be achieved regardless of backgrounds and less penny.
Am youth and am much inspired by this episode
Me too
He is right. In America you have to become nobody, before you become somebody
Did this guy just casually say the word "rodeo" as "lodeo" akisonga bana legend this one is😂😂😂
Chus I think he getting confused between Kikuyu accent and american accent
lodeo😂😂😂
Buying pants 👖 for wan hadred and selling for faef hadred 🙊ok. Acha ninyamaze Sasa 🤐
Hii lodeo
you got to get it first, he's from Nyeri, where "r" and "l" are close cousins....
This should have been a longer interview. Really interesting guy and I love how he tells his story
I love this Jojo’s hustle in the US. All the way from Hollywood to Texas
This is very very true, i am in U.S and i remember those tough days of schl, no schl fee, rent ni shida and all that. People think America is paradise until you get there. Not easy at all, you have to toil and work extra hard to make ends meet. Oops them bills is not a joke too🤦🏽♂️

Money, what a perfect way to express it. Same way a person who earns 35K in Eldoret is better off than someone earning 50K in Kanairo.
Exactly in Chicago rent for a 5 br in a good neighborhood would be $1000 in Cali that's a room on house.
I like the originality of this man, wengine wanapanga line kwa KFC na kuona episode moja ya series na accent ishachange... Wanaongea vitu zingine... I like this guy.. never leave the culture

The people who are criticizing his accent/english should be ashamed of themselves.
This guy belived in himself and went the USA. Wow I'm impressed he read 'Think and Grow Rich'
He is honest about his life in america. Big up to him 👍👍👍
amazing and he is funny too.😂😂
Kenyans you would be surprised alot of people allover the world are proud of their accent even while in foreign countries but here we ridicule those with an accent.English is not our mother tongue.LOVE THY SELVES KENYANS.
Kenyans always do that for some reason
Kenyans have unresolved inferiority complex..hearing a fellow Kenyan with an accent esp shrabbing makes them feel better about themselves kama wao wenyewe hawana accent.
True. We should embarrass our own accents
What is so unique about him is how he stayed America for so long and never adopted the American accent,he understands that an accent is just a way of speaking and doesn't necessarily make you intelligent in any way.
It's not about intelligence or accent, it's about the English grammar from a graduate. 👀
Hiyo story ya kupick accent haikuangi ukweli unless mtu alizaliwa uko,, imagine mtu aende India for more than 10 years,, atapick hiyo accent ya wahindi???🤔🤔
If you listen to him carefully he is trying to weng, but it seems due to his heavy tongue of nyerian accent inakaa American accent ilimkataa roho safi. The America accent is not for everyone.
The American accent is not for everybody especially if u are from Nyeri or Nyahururu huko mashinani u can't get the accent easily.their toungue is heavy.
Sometimes acquiring an American accent has it's issues when visiting Kenya. People just want to rip you off. I know because I go through it many times but women seem to love it.
Bring him back. This Ras is a story teller
BEST SHOW EVER, LOVED IT
Doubts in comment section, lets try to break it.. Manze if you have a kikuyu bright science student please listen to them speaking in English... Sisi tuko ivo na muachane na gikuyu
Borake intelligence na bright minds are there... Matamchi issa no big deal to us
Si sorry basi 🤔😄😄😄
Your language does not matter... Intelligence does
I remember the 90s the Kenyan economy was in shambles, so many guys went to the USA. The same thing will happen

i used to see him on facebook around 2017-18 int he streets of LA and i used to think he was crazy or on drugs but underneath there was intelligence in his words, "mapipo mapipo"

Perfect show to end the year!
Right now studying a university in America for my bachelor degree. I tell you life is hard here, I mean surviving. Again university, where almost everyone is rich, and you get ashamed of your background. So in short, you have to be nobody in order to become somebody. My friends back at home are admiring me the fact that I’m studying here, but deep down in my heart, I’m not excited unless I’m done with this degree so that I can be a visible someone.

I am not based in America but accent change as you integrate to your host country. Even though our English is perfect wanzungus dont understand our accent and you get sick and tired of being told they cant understand you. However, when I travel back home I switch back to Swahili which I am fluent in and also make money on it to translate and interpret in my host country. Its a beauty to know many languanges
