I remember the Main Event Mafia, & I think that TNA disbanded them at just the right time. By mid to late 2009, they'd already run their course, & there was really nothing else that could be done with them. Amazing video! I love your videos, & I look forward to hopefully seeing some more videos, over TNA's various stables, like Planet Jarrett, Team Canada, etc.
The MEM was one of my favourite stables in all of wrestling. Such a shame on their downfall. Should have been the dominant force for longer than they were. Sting's character arc was weird but not as weird (or bad) as his 'Joker' gimmick that came later.

Because it was, both the Main event Mafia and the Millionaire's club were Vince Russo's ideas and I may be wrong here but the reason for creating the Main event Mafia storyline was to try and prove that his Millionaire's club vs New Blood angle in WCW would have worked had it not been for those meddling old wrestlers and turners mangy standards and practices.
In my opinion TNA is one of the most botched promotions of all time due to the controversial matchs and incidents happend and ofc burying young talents
they really got ruined because of dixie carter and russo. she secretly hired vince russo even though the network told them they dislike him and not want him in TNA, and then vince russo stupidly sent an email to the network by accident, which caused the network to drop them. after the network dropped them, they have a lot less viewers because the new network is less accessable, which was what ended them

This group looked good on paper, I just wish the whole storyline wasn't the classic 'new up and comers vs heel faction takeover' storyline that's been going on since late WCW.
"good idea, if only they did it right" is staple of wrestling in and out of TNA: anonymous RAW general manager, WCW invasion, Aces and 8s, NXT (competition days) you know the idea as tough Enough for TNA, AJ Lee (FFS they had someone THAT amazing and nearly wasted ALL of the potential she had... just because she was that great she shone through the bella twins's chests), WCW new blood and so So SO many more.
2008 was TNA's BEST YEAR, I don't care what you say, you had a total of 3 WORLD CHAMPIONS ALL YEAR, the best Lethal Lockdown match, Samoa Joe making history retaining the world title in the KOTM match, Beer Money is formed, The Motor City Machine Guns are tearing up the tag team division, Jay Lethal was a great X-Division Champion, AJ Styles was phenomenal this year, Sting winning his 3rd BFG main event and world title in a row, and capping it all off with the birth of THE MAIN EVENT MAFIA on the live Vegas show, that was good quality wrestling content.
I loved the whole main event mafia stuff. everyone shined, Booker was so entertaining, so was Scott, I loved Nash being the old wise guy in the group, just being the crazy power hungry leader, and sting being the good guy; even sharmell shined imo; all those backstage and in ring segments were so entertaining. however I was wasn't big on Joe joining made no sense, made an over powered group even more near impossible to beat lol
I loved the concept of the stable but when they joined world elite it kind of contradicted there beliefs as veterans. I Loved the riot hey had but the whole concept of there alliance killed the original concept. I still believe Jeff Jarrettscandal was a big Blow to momentum of TNA as a whole.
My favourite episode of Impact was when the MEM spend the entire first hour beating the "frontline" at every stage with rules to suit them. In the second hour, Mick Foley came out and booked a match to give the "Frontline" the advantage and overcome the evil MEM. MEM promptly won, making the entire Frontline look like jokes. Also it is absolutely hilarious that Kurt Angle was a veteran being disrespected by the young AJ Styles, the same AJ Styles who actually debuted BEFORE Kurt Angle (they both debuted in 1998).
The funny thing was Victory Road 2008 was in Houston, Booker T from what I remember was the good guy, because Houston, from what I remember, and if I’m wrong please tell me.
The episode where the Main Event Mafia tookover an episode of Impact is by far my favorite and least favorite episode of TNA. It's also the last episode of Impact I ever watched. Other than the them taking over an episode like the nWo did in WCW, the thing I remember most from MEM storyline was when Samoa Joe was chasing everyone around with a machete and MEM ran away from him and Tenay and West called them cowards. And one the same episode AJ had stolen Booker's Legend's title so Booker called the cops and they called Booker a coward. I don't know why that sticks in my head so much.
I thought MEM was a success a bit janky in places mainly with the World Elite alliance to me and Samoa Joe joining also some MEM guys won some matches when they should’ve lost. Other than that I didn’t mind the Sting stuff and that back and forth with him and Angle. Good group in my book
My opinion on the Main Event Mafia, I didnt love or hate them. I thought they were fine and that's really it. Had a cool name and theme song but besides that they were just another faction in wrestling for me.
Hulk Hogan, Vince Russo, Kevin Nash, Ric Flair and Eric Bischoff all had a part in the fall of WCW. Years later they did it again with TNA because of a stupid owner who didn’t know anything about wrestling and hired these same guys. It’s a shame what happened to this company because had it been steered in the right direction it could’ve been competition to the WWE.
Really though, TNA bitches the front line. They introduced them WAY too early. Rather than the first obstacle they roll through, they should’ve been the last ditch effort that eventually thwarts the Main Event Mafia. Maybe have Sting help create it after he gets kicked out
Sconox LP 2013 or something like that when Sting was combatting the Aces & Eights. It was Sting, Kurt Angle Samoa Joe and freaking Rampage Jackson only reason they had him was because they had Tito on Aces and Eights to promote a Belator fight they were going to have. I don’t think neither of them ever got physically involved like that anyways so there inclusions were pointless
The Main event mafia was a great concept that was poorly executed. They didn’t do a good job at putting over younger talent until the very very end, and some of the decisions like being on Joe for no reason just made you scratch your head. When the core of your feud is entitled vets vs the young guys, why would you have Mick Foley, another VETERAN, be the guy who takes the title from them? Just bone headed decisions
