Well actually, it arguably should’ve done better because Christmas Day is when Jewish people hit the movies to bide their time in the day since they don’t celebrate Christmas. At least that’s what I hear.

the thing with mack checking the cellar out makes actually sense when you think about his character as a whole. He started off as someone who refused change and slowly starts to build this sense for adventure, especially building up his courage at the chef's place. He clearly felt good with everyone thanking him and thinking him as a hero. So ig with a inflated ego and a new found sense of bravery he went in. It's a cool character arc and quite obvious if I can say so myself... And macks whole character arc ends with him reminding erm... I forgor her name, but his wife that whatever is happening there is still light at the end of the tunnel. It's quite cheesy, yes, but it's enough for a good family movie and the topic of migration is not gate kept by only ducks and thus many humans can also relate.
One of the reasons why the movie is better that the rest of Illumination's package is definetly thanks to Benjamin Renner's influence as a director. He also made Ernest and Celestine and Big Bad Fox and Other Tales. (My Review ) With that said I couldn't help but to compare some scenes to Rio with how similiar they were like the escape from the plane at the climax and the dance sequence. I would not be suprised if they "inspired" by it. Sometimes it was a bit repetitive with how the main characters met other ones while having wacky hijinxs with together and I do kinda wish we could get little bit of explanation as to why Mac was so worried to leave the pod. There was deleted scene where Mac as a duckling left his family and flew beyond the pod only for him to get attacked by predators. If I would give positives its that the animation is beautiful while staying true to Renner's artstyle. The soundtrack by John Powell is great and the characters are very charming and fun. I especially enjoyed the dynamic between Mac and Pam and how much of a sweet couple they were. It was a complete 180 compared to Super Mario Bros in many details. While I don't find the movie to be as good as everyone else I had a fun time watching it and I would recomend it if want something simple yet charming.
Me & friend went to see this film because Godzilla Minus One was out of our local theaters, & for what it is it's actually quite good. I think animated films like Spiderverse & Puss in Boots really spoiled us making us forget not every film has to be a grand epic full of deep & emotionally torn characters. It's okay just to be a simple fun family movie.
I watched this movie in theaters, I had zero expectations yet it was INCREDIBLE. I highly recommend you watch this movie, it genuinely feels like a family movie (like jokes for all ages) rather than (just) brain rot for iPad addicted toddlers.
I watched this film on the plane, and my thoughts on it are... that it's really safe and a bit generic, but it's legitimately heartwarming, fun, and enjoyable. It's basically a fun, simple romp that reminds me of animated movies of the 2000s, and kinda nice when you want a break from Disney and Minions. Legitimately would watch it again.

I feel one of the best things you didn’t point out about this movie is the score. Holy moly this score is fantastic. Seeing you rank the duck movie itself truly made my day and honestly I have to agree with you Migration is just simply a fun movie to watch and it made my 5 year old bird lover me explode with joy when I first the news about that movie because back when I was just a child I used to absolutely *FUCKING LOVE BIRDS!!!* I used to adore them back then because they were just cool creatures and I used to be invested on almost every single species of them and when I saw this movie with my mom it made me a bit nostalgic for a moment because not only because it kinda reminded me of Rio a little and it’s also a movie I absolutely adored too but also because it reminded me of simpler times on back when life used to be so much simpler and that is something I really need for a long time and yes this movie along with the Mario movie and The Spider Verse movie are probably the 3 most anticipated movies I wanted to see this year and they’re all amazing so yeah Migration a good and fun movie for me and that’s ironic for someone where’s the channel OC is a literal duck saying this but yeah great movie highly check it out if you want something to make your day😊

the & animations & camera work & visuals & pacing are absolutely perfectly executed, even tho theres loads of scenes are illogical, it was ok because they made it fun, being creative is more fun then being realistic ❤
The thing why I love watching your every video - the conversations of the film industries. Anyway the movie was good. It was surely a film for families and kids mostly, but it wasn't a bad animated movie. Also the animation was really pretty and I liked its characters. It wasn't a pixar movie or studio ghibli movie suuree, but it was nice for Illumination.
Let this sink for a second. Illumination, the studio behind The Minions, can make a fantastic family movie, out of the blue. The most absolute random shit from Illumination is unironically one of the studio's best movies. Who would've thunk?!
This was a good movie. It’s not the best as I can see its faults but seeing it is an original concept, something that isn’t done as much and it to me, is funny, it was good.
I liked this movie. The plot was simple but well executed. It was fun, heartwarming and exciting the animation was absolutely stunning too. My favourite scene was the mallards flying in the clouds 🩷. Good job Illumination, i hope you can keep it up.
I saw this trailer at the theatre and I SWEAR I've seen this movie before, like this movie already existed from another studio with a bunch of the same jokes as the trailer... but like when I was younger. Like it's gotta be 10 years old AT LEAST but I haven't seen anyone else talking about it but I remember this movie already existing so clearly UPDATE: WATCH THE TRAILER TO YELLOWBIRD AND THEN RE-WATCH THE TRAILER TO MIGRATION
I just assumed Ducks need some sort of "running start" in order to fly, or go in any diagonal motion, like they can't fly up and down easily. But how would I know.
For reference, when you figure out a film's profit margin, you generally take its production cost and then double it; it's not exact but it takes into account things like marketing budget and theater take. On a budget of $74 million that means it would've had to make $148 million to break even, so the profit margin is closer to $100 million, not $156. That's still nothing to sneeze at, and is actually well known as Illumination's modus operandi-- they can crank out films on a comparatively shoestring budget compared to Disney or Dreamworks and even if it's a 'flop' (I love that Wish is the metric for this now, hah hah), they're all but guaranteed to still make a good profit.
My dad is the human equivalent of Hugh Neutron (nuts about ducks), so I'm thinking this is something we'll end up enjoying someday. Good to know it has the beaniie stamp of approval!
Ngl, I believe Migration may take the award for the calmest Minions opening next to the Super Mario Movie. I wasn't really that interested in watching migration, but I gotta give it to Illumination, the animation is fucking amazing

For me, Sing 2 is my personal favorite Illumination film. Far superior to the first (it’s alright for what it is) and had an amazing soundtrack and felt more mature at times.
Seeing you rank the duck movie itself truly made my day and honestly I have to agree with you Migration is just simply a fun movie to watch and it made my 5 year old bird lover me explode with joy when I first the news about that movie because back when I was just a child I used to absolutely *FUCKING LOVE BIRDS!!!* I used to adore them back then because they were just cool creatures and I used to be invested on almost every single species of them and when I saw this movie with my mom it made me a bit nostalgic for a moment because not only because it kinda reminded me of Rio a little and it’s also a movie I absolutely adored too but also because it reminded me of simpler times on back when life used to be so much simpler and that is something I really need for a long time and yes this movie along with the Mario movie and The Spider Verse movie are probably the 3 most anticipated movies I wanted to see this year and they’re all amazing so yeah Migration a good and fun movie for me and that’s ironic for someone where’s the channel OC is a literal duck saying this but yeah great movie highly check it out if you want something to make your day😊
This movie surprised me by being like a 2007 Alpha and Omega/Open Season type movie yet in 2023. I just remember the weird Shark Tank promo feeling so awkward and forced.
I really like the dynamic between the two child birds it was really cute :)
woah illumination made something that ISNT minions related?
watched this with my family after not going to the movies for a while. we chose migration and honestly it was a pretty cute movie! i came out liking it more than i thought i would!!
Earlier today I was wondering when this was going to be released.
The "pitch meetings" in the start are just perfect 🤣
I was expecting a Duck Hunt movie, but I guess this is the best we could hope for.
That opening skit is better than everything Disney has put out in the last 2-3 years.
Hey now, Owl House was a fine show and Elemental was fantastic.
The Once Upon a Studio shirt was well made too. An epic crossover event LOL
Omg watching you get more views over time is amazing ❤
As always, the opening skit's hilarious. Not looking forward to hearing Awkwafina in Kung Fu Panda 4, as Zhen.
The film isn't great.
Migration might be the best illumination movie, simply because the story wasn’t rushed, the movie was funny, and the funny was visually amazing. All other illumination movies only accomplish 2/3, for me, this one accomplished 3/3 requirements 😳✨✨💅
My girls wanted to see this in theaters so bad and I agreed to just have some fun with them. I wasn’t expecting much from it, just thought it was going to be a silly kids movie. But I surprisingly enjoyed it more than I thought I would lol
This movie make me love ducks tba based on the stuff ducks do in irl
Saw it in 3d. Thought it was worth doing at least once. Flying scenes work really well for it
12:35 - So...Pretty much every Awkwafina role.
This movie gave me RIO vibes. And its really good family movie. this is the family friendliest movie ever
same, prob beacause the parrots name is litterly "Rio" so he is prob a refrence and the dancing is deffinetly taking from it too. also the whole idea of the homesick dad is litterly Rio 2 but the dad changes his mind right at the start here and isnt as nervous.
Once I found out that Despicable Me four was coming, I knew it was all over
Am I crazy or is this just the plot of Rio 2?
Rio + Rio 2 + Ratatouille
Yes
Rio 2 had like 5 plots
she duo on my lingo
Crazy? I was crazy once. They locked me in a room, a rubber room. A rubber room with rats. The rats made me crazy.
I watched this movie while high and it was a fucking experience
This is just a theory (a film theory), but I don’t think there was enough room for the ducks to take off in the dance scene
I haven’t seen this movie, but have heard of it, might check it out at some point.
the & animations & camera work & visuals & pacing are absolutely perfectly executed, even tho theres loads of scenes are illogical, it was ok because they made it fun, being creative is more fun then being realistic ❤
In defense of the mallards not flying out on the dance floor....it's extremely crowded and flying out could cause a mess and give away their location.
Migration pulled an Elemental for Illumination!
That's what happens when you make a good movie
Okay, get this mf to 100k, it's been too long ✊
I think migration is the top five illumination movies but it ain’t saying much but it’s a great family movie 6/1
why do ppl hate on illumination? i really like them, especially this movie
Let this sink for a second. Illumination, the studio behind The Minions, can make a fantastic family movie, out of the blue. The most absolute random shit from Illumination is unironically one of the studio's best movies. Who would've thunk?!
I thought beaniie was gone. I adore his intro for every movie he reviews.
Imagine if Beanie made a rundown on Trolls Band Together and starts to compare this to Disney's Wish since both movies are released on the same month?
This was a good movie. It’s not the best as I can see its faults but seeing it is an original concept, something that isn’t done as much and it to me, is funny, it was good.
My mom really wants to see the movie but she doesn't want to drive too far and all the theaters are miles away from our house.
This movie kinda reminds me of “Leafie, A Hen Into The Wild.”
squarespace has got this man into having a consistent upload schedule, i'm clicking that link 😂
Awkwafina is now a character in the Beanie Brian cinematic universe
i was expecting the selling point to universal in the opening skit to be "we can get awkwafina in it"
What's the song that plays at 19:03?
"Migration end titles" by John Powell
16:22 in his defence I would probably do the same
We are the beans and we will rule all nothing can stop our ever growing might.
turn this into a copy pasta
I saw the title of the video and immediately imagined vsauce talking
I really loved migration :)
I liked this movie. The plot was simple but well executed. It was fun, heartwarming and exciting the animation was absolutely stunning too. My favourite scene was the mallards flying in the clouds 🩷. Good job Illumination, i hope you can keep it up.
They got John Powell, from How To Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda, in this movie to compose the score 😮
I saw this trailer at the theatre and I SWEAR I've seen this movie before, like this movie already existed from another studio with a bunch of the same jokes as the trailer... but like when I was younger. Like it's gotta be 10 years old AT LEAST but I haven't seen anyone else talking about it but I remember this movie already existing so clearly
UPDATE: WATCH THE TRAILER TO YELLOWBIRD AND THEN RE-WATCH THE TRAILER TO MIGRATION
Rio?
@@vadimbanner2024 no I figured it out it's called Yellowbird
Anyone thought of rio?
Yeah! It reminded me a lot of Rio
I’m confused how Dax I think that’s his name but he just attached feathers to his wings like how they don’t have hands
Surprised you didn't mention who directed it. The same guy who did Ernest and Celestine worked on this visual gem.
they were able to animate the flying so well because 60% of illumination staff are actually ducks
I just assumed Ducks need some sort of "running start" in order to fly, or go in any diagonal motion, like they can't fly up and down easily. But how would I know.
I genuinely enjoyed this movie
I thought it was interesting how in this film like Nemo they didn’t make the humans talk
I love the humor in this review.
They also have to split with the exhibitors (the movie theater) so the usual "formula" is 3x the production budget to break even.
My dad is the human equivalent of Hugh Neutron (nuts about ducks), so I'm thinking this is something we'll end up enjoying someday. Good to know it has the beaniie stamp of approval!
Finally a good original movie
Ngl, I believe Migration may take the award for the calmest Minions opening next to the Super Mario Movie. I wasn't really that interested in watching migration, but I gotta give it to Illumination, the animation is fucking amazing
Well, considering the fact that Illumination literally earned 1B dollars for Universal in 2023. Their movies are always in a good rate.
There was another talking duck movie from years ago everyone ignored and forgot about THAT FLOPPED years ago
It Made My Day Even better
My you saw they took a long time to fly and in a crownd they wont be able to get the time.
Seriously the fkin minions are my damn trigger word
Bro at the part where you introduced the chef I got a cooking game ad😭
isnt that just rio but american?
