Plenty of talented actors get stuck in a typecasted role, then when people get tired of seeing that same caricature they move on. But sometimes the actor might not be able to move on with everybody else and get new roles. People who make movies don't like taking risks. They stick with what works until it doesn't, and their capacity for trying new things is very limited, and only recently has begun growing. But it always takes a lot of hard work with a little bit of luck for an actor to get the chance to reinvent themselves.
