I'm so happy to see all these "little" details being finished up! While I appreciate the 'get-er-done' videos I love that you're going back in to make this car an all-season driver.
40:17.... I haven't laughed so hard in a while, at the string of beeps... hilarious You guys are awesome. Happy new year to the Stay Tuned Team and their families. See you in 2024!
The roller coaster of emotions this car brings. I can feel the pain when the rear coolant lines started leaking and Tony melted down. Keep up the great work and please keep the vids coming.
Great project to watch, and I really think it showcased the great skills you and your team have as it looked like a tough build. It was also really great to see you took time to polish it up, rather than the 'quick and dirty' approach as this car is too good for that I think. Also thanks for the videos this year, I am sure a great deal of hard work and late nights go into these builds that as the viewer we maybe don't always appreciate... Happy New Year in advance to you and the team. Best regards.
Man, I was worried. 🤣🤣 Thought you lost the Shop. Wouldn’t be a Friday without Tony and the boys. HellYeah. Beer and a Slice Time. Ready to Stay Tuned. Happy New Year!!
Tony, you are an inspiration! This build is not only amazing, it was a royal pain in the ass. You and your team stayed with it, somehow, and got it done. I’m an old man doing cam and heads on my C5 and some of it has been frustrating, but your show of determination has picked me up! Thanks, big fan 👍
Awesome work, almost makes me want to buy a Porsche... Having your own mil and lathe is absolutely awesome even if you are not a full on machinist, you can make/fix things you couldn't before. I love my Bridgeport and Southbend.
Tony, that Porsche is turning out awesome, you make us PA boys proud to see the work you and your team puts down! I can’t wait to see you turn up the wick and send it on the track!
Stay tuned crew and Families. Have a great new years. Health and wellness for you and yours. Viewers/followers - ditto. EDIT- looking at those water lines. I'm thinking the designer/engineer drank way way way to much warm dark beer. Just an fyi - when you were carrying the new lines, it looked like a sci-fy megablaster death ray cannon master blaster 2000. (Patent pending as of right now). I see a shirt. I do. Lol
said "looking at those water lines. I'm thinking the designer/engineer drank way way way to much warm dark beer. " And you can do a better job? With limited space there are only so many empty spaces
@bobroberts2371 I absolutely cannot do better. Even with my German heritage. So yes the factory did better than I ever would of. (Maybe use better material or a inner treatment?)
Gawd Tony.. ur shop is wetter than Miami Beach! What's up Dude? 🙄 It's the new Stay Tuned PeePorshe LS!! 😂😂 (sorry man) I bet those leaky pipes blew up the original engine. Way to stick with It! Awesome Build! 😎👍

Not knocking the other guys (or girl) on HRG or Roadkill, but Tony's builds are better than most of anything turned out by both shows combined in his absence! So glad that this channel exists!
Hey y'all, Saint John from R&D exotics here. Glad they we could be of assistance to get this beast on the road, ripping. Hey Zach, aren't you glad you took ALL the pipes? Nice job on the headlights 👍 HAHA! Can't wait to see this badass piece of machinery in person. Be Safe! Later ...
Having to pull the motor out after doing the majority of the coolant lines would have crushed me. I would have let the car sit for months 😂 Track time will be worth it though!
The prolonged bleeps at the discovery of the “new” leak had me cracking up while also feeling for your frustration. Goes to show you how when the automaker specs certain things, sometimes it’s because they know what they are doing. Now about that 90% water I’ve got in my Burban. Damn. Time for a flush. Chemistry is a mofo.
Powerkraut looks sick! I feel your pain having to pull the motor again. I did a ls swap last week on my bmw 328 wagon and went to start it and only had 2lbs of oil pressure so out comes the motor!! 😩all part of playing with cars I guess.
"If you guys can't jam those heater hoses up here WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO SELL THE SHOP!!!" Apex wheels are the best in the business! I put 140,000 miles on a set with my 2016 Camaro SS before I had to sell it because I've gotten sick and am disabled now... and homeless and living in my Subaru for the past 3 years. These video's really help give me a distraction from the fibromyalgia and severe depression. THANK YOU
The oil accumulator idea is fascinating. The old Hawk surface to air missile control surfaces worked on the same principle. That is there was a steel tank half of which that had an inner rubber bladder with hydraulic fluid in it and the other half was highly pressurized air. When the missile launched the air pressure was released into the vessel and the bladder would force fluid into the control surface actuators and the guidance system would work from there. Nice job on the headlights.
TONY...the accumulator...I get that it's for drops in pressure. Is it for momentary drops? Or in say the oil pump fails? And if it's for the oil pump, how do you know it has failed if the accumulated maintains pressure?

Finally! The "magic incantations" that make every car repair/build complete. If it doesn't make you cuss, you don't care enough about the vehicle. Learned those magic words at a very young age, and the proper application of them which seem make things come together eventually. I've been waiting for that long string of bleeps that lets me know you care, lol.
when you can’t afford to outright buy the good toys guys like us can build them. I know you were kicking yourself in the ass for not doing those coolant lines the first time that was a whole Lotta bleeps. Have a happy new year.
I'm hunting me down a Marlboro Cyclone they made only 10 . Well Marlboro had them built from the factory as give aways.. has anyone else heard of them.. killer episode as always, thanks tony and crew for putting out yet another great vlog..
So much respect for you guys taking the engine out after it leaked again. I would have set the car on fire, press it into a box shape and send it back to Germany. Love from the Netherlands!
I had the best dad joke lined up for 14:43, talking about German skies being all clear.. no one harshing your mellow.. til a Mustang came along and blew your ass out of the sky 🤣 (sorry, not trash talking Porsche, just a lame WW2 dad joke, couldn't resist!). Nice to see this thing coming along and fully into its own. She ain't no Mustang, she's the filly of Philly! Ok I promise no more dad jokes lmao
That was lovely to see! I'm also kinda sad that this project is about to be done, but it's not like you are running out of cool projects to do and finish. I'll be curious to see where the V12 will end up going. I feel like it kinda has to be a smaller car like the Mustang to be sporty (a big Lincoln is too boaty), and it has to be "working class" like the Mustang. You need that contrast between the motor and the car. So, if it's not going to be a Mustang, I'm curious to see what it would be.
A little tip on the coolant tank. If you run a small auxiliary pump in the line down to the bottom rad hose it will constantly push coolant back into the system and pull the air/steam off the top. You can find them in the heating system of 80s and 90s Mercedes for certain but im sure theyre inntons of stuff. Its used to help circulation to the heater in factory form.
Such a cool project. Little German- American combo. Right up my alley considering i grew up messing with Pontiacs before i got into drag racing boosted bmws. Wonder what powerkraut will run at the strip??
This 911 is killer!!!! I've always been a huge fan of the 996 even if it kinda the red-headed step child of Porsches. Thanks for the amazing content keep up the great work 👏🏿👍🏿
Awesome Project...! Once again, THANK YOU for Showing Everyone sH#t Happens..!! Yes, The Coolant System Leaked..! Yes, The Engine Had to Come Out AGAIN..! Real World Hot Rodding..! Please Tell The Welder To Practice More on Aluminum, Not Bitching...😁😎. And Happy New Year.!
Some conversions fight you every inch of the way. Glad you stuck with it and got it all fixed. I can't believe you had to replace every piece of coolant pipe in the car, that's crazy! Looking forward to the tuning and finishing touches!
This project is realistic and I love it. The last 10/15 percent of my projects takes longer than the first 85/90 percent of the project. I like swapping engines… but then I break everything every time.
I run those same Apex wheels on my 996 Turbo, but in a 9"/12" setup. What would it take to get all the factory gauges working, have AC working? Get it smog compliant? So all readiness monitors set, etc?

Tony, not sure how cold it is where you are but those Azenis RT660's are not designed to run in cold weather. From Tire Rack: The Falken Azenis RT660 is designed to provide maximum performance in warm, dry to damp conditions, and like all Extreme Performance Summer tires, it is not intended to be serviced, stored, nor driven in near-and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels, or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle. I live in Michigan and run the RT615K+ on my car. Put them on in early May and take them off in October. Love the channel and been watching you for years. Continued success in the new year.
This makes me want to buy a 996 and do the same but they're ridiculously expensive here in Australia ($45k for a 1998 automatic convertible is about the cheapest I can find). Given your drifting background I assume some coilovers are incoming to get rid of the 4x4 stance. I think a set of HKS Super Drager style tips would look even better too.
Ha ha ha ha ha!!! Ur 50k top of the line coolant filler upper & u yall gots a leak. U even pressure tested & ha ha ha... I'm just funnin' w u guys. That sucks after all that work.. When in doubt, replace everything. That things a beast & looks hella fun to drive. 🤟's the work & the channel. Keeps it up. Look forward to a new year of projects. Much 🤟 guys❤️🔥🙏🍜
Man i feel your pain... you ever want to double check your skills.. nut and bolt your project carefully... to check that? Replace parts you have already crossed off the list (way earlier in the process) as not going to fool with them... I hate that for ya man.. but i TRUELY laughed out loud on the bleeping fit.. love that part. Bless you and yours , have a HAPPY NEW YEAR.
I think it needs a Turbo and some 19" custom 3pc Turbo Twist's.... and of course, at least the GT3/Aero Kit wing if not the whole kit.....ok, at least the turbo 😅
I was wondering how much editing in regards to audio you have to do when you and the boys started wrestling with the replacement coolant lines...lol..hell, I was swearing about it just watching! Then the 40-minute mark hit and, well, yeah 😑 I think you should do an entire episode of just Bleeped out Bloopers because I know there's a LOT of them..lol...Happy New Years, guys!
Got to say, happy to see that even you guys have random issues that pop up. I have had countless projects that get derailed bc of bs issues… I thought it was me being a rookie…
That Bridgeport is awesome it's a must have in a shop and there are so many things you can do with it too. The older the machine the better they re in my opinion and the longer they last.
I was on the floor laughing this episode! Tony light em up..nothin ok…guy pulls out and destroys tires haha. Then the leak again and tony just loses it lmfao! Don’t you watch roadkill? Kseal and you’d have been driving it weeks ago lol
This is Hot Rod Garage type project. That's now only available on YT. HRG content's become elementary , while this site's become more advanced fabrication .
What I would’ve done believe it or not I would’ve gone and got some pecks pipe that they use for house plumbing and you can get 1 inch line and get rid of that aluminum
Pex piping is a bad idea if you expect the temperature of the coolant to go above 140 degrees. It doesn't have great long term resistance to ethanol/methanol either, but especially at high temperatures.
Have a '90's VW with a bunch of steel hard coolant lines, where I live they rot out from road salt. Replaced them 15 yrs ago with lengths of appropriate size rad/heater hose, connected with copper plumbing tees, 90 deg. bends. Fit the copper inside the hose, clamp. Hasn't leaked since. FWIW. Better than original design in this environment.
I guess that's why they don't use aluminum on that stuff anymore. Most new cars have impact plastic on all that stuff. That stuff degrades over time too, but for like the next 3,000 years.
40:17 That's Morse Code for needs a sacrificial anode. Flexalite 32060. Add one to your expansion tank. It'll eat the anode instead of your pipes. SCIENCE!
Love yr videos! Happy holidays 🎉 Re auto back lifting wing. I'd make a plan to hook it back on or keep it solidly up! Under breaking or certain conditions helps you not have that 1980's swing around and downforce helps you slow down. Seen it for myself.. 2 inches really works. 😮

I liked how the sweater matched the coolant, also great choice of wheels and glad you went back to 18 inch size which is the best for the 996

Looks really good than original... Good job guy's... Regards from Brazil!!!
Only thing I don’t like is the ugly exhaust pipes poking out, otherwise 👌🏾 nice!
Looking sick... that thing screams for a RUF RGT 1st Gen front bumper! Should be on the Ruf RGT Wikipedia page
What I would’ve done believe it or not I would’ve gone and got some pecks pipe that they use for house plumbing and you can get 1 inch line and get rid of that aluminum
Yeah, we discussed it but once the other pipes came into play this was the move, I think.
Tyler's rig is a beast but the 'syke clone' will walk all over it 😂 24:57
Love my uview airlift coolant fill. ESP doing 2j and ls swaps in random chassis. Makes bleeding coolant so much easier.
Nice work. Maybe you already planned on it but an alignment after pulling the subframe and what not is a good idea. Especially with brand new skins!
One of the old vented Whale Tails would look fantastic! From pictures, It might give you more room? Nice build!
One questiin though...a 5.3 ls in a 911, isnt that like cramming a corvette in a backpack? Lol
Awesome video yet again. Is the guy with the v8 Blazer on Instagram? I’m curious if he has more info/pics on his build…
I guess that's why they don't use aluminum on that stuff anymore. Most new cars have impact plastic on all that stuff. That stuff degrades over time too, but for like the next 3,000 years.
Is there a better compromise of displacement, weight, reliability and relative compact size for the available performance than the LS?... I think not.
Nice conversion, I like the big power V8.
But the stance of the car is al wrong. Either lower it, or put some mudguards on..
I think Porsche style badging with the engine displacement would be cool. People would be like what is a Porsche 324?
40:17 That's Morse Code for needs a sacrificial anode.
Flexalite 32060. Add one to your expansion tank. It'll eat the anode instead of your pipes. SCIENCE!
Love yr videos! Happy holidays 🎉 Re auto back lifting wing. I'd make a plan to hook it back on or keep it solidly up! Under breaking or certain conditions helps you not have that 1980's swing around and downforce helps you slow down. Seen it for myself.. 2 inches really works. 😮
The agony of those lines was real. Great build and those wheels are perfect.
Let me wrap my mind around "cheap Porsche 911". Yeah, right. I've owned three 911s.
Im watching this and I'm dreading working on the vtec system on a Honda c-rv.
Guess I should feel fortunate.
The biggest section of the video was leaks!
True! It's better now, and driving awesome.
