I know this is cheap but i went to my local library book sale room. Also little free libraries can help. Some people can't spend 20/30 dollars on books. Happy holidays to everyone
I don't think that's cheap at all! I think it's very smart and sustainable. I almost exclusively read/listen to books from the library. I just don't have space for all these books if I buy them all
I JUST finished reading "Small Things Like These" today, in fact, and it sent me down a huge rabbit hole about the historical context behind it. It was so impactful and understated, a really clever way of framing the subject matter, that is a really important part of history that sohould never be forgotten and needs to be told.
I just started it! I'm already so hooked. My best friend is actually from Belfast (she lives with me now) and so I'm asking her ALLLL the questions about everything going on in the book. It's fascinating.
@olivesbooknook I went on a whole rabbit hole before my book club this evening so please lmk if you want any recs. The novel was SO thought provoking and I thought it was so interesting that she chose a man in his particular circumstances to tell the story, instead of a woman in the convent experiencing things firsthand. I feel like the way it was told makes it EVERYONE'S responsibility to look up the information and decide what should be done. To find out what was culturally done! I don't want to spoil it but I did a LOT of reading after this novel
God of the Woods is good, think it’s best to go in with no expectations. I’ve seen people express they were let down because they went in with more fast paced thriller/mystery expectations. I felt that it was more character driven than anything, which I enjoyed. Happy Holidays! 😊
Love your cozy Christmas setup by the fire! 😍 I just read Lovelight Farms and really liked it! Can’t wait to read more of the series. I loved The Nightingale, it’s so good!! Ooo The God of the Woods is one of my recent favorite books 😊 It’s a literary mystery (no fantasy) and definitely a slow burn, character focused book that I think you’ll like! I also recently read The Christmas Tree Farm, haha, and it was fine but I liked Lovelight Farms way more. Also really want to read Small Things Like These, can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
I was about to recommend The God of the Woods to you in your previous video! I liked it but not a 5 star read. At some points it was a bit slow but I liked the setting a lot. I read it during the summer because it takes place at a summer camp. That was a great timing. But it isn't super summery so it doesn't really matter. The most wonderful crime of the year looks so fun! I might pick that one up before the end of the year.
Okay a lot of people are saying it's a slow read! Which definitely helps my expectations. I'm still excited about it, but I think I was thinking it'd be a little different.
The Nightingale is one of the best books that I have ever read. It was a great one to pull me out of a reading slump because I just could not put it down.
That’s super interesting that your b&n doesn’t have its own romance section. The romance sections at my b&n are huge. Probably slightly bigger than the fantasy sections. I’ve noticed the manga sections have definitely grown over the years.
Yes I always remember b&n having specific romance sections! I'm bummed mine doesn't have it, it's hard to just browse fiction because they house everything together.
I absolutely hated the writing style of the Pumpkin Spice Cafe. I was so excited for series but was let down so hard wuth how cringy and annoying the whole book was that i cant even continue with the series. The God of the woods was good though. Very slow paced though, took me a while to really get into it.

It was definitely a slower read. I enjoyed it, but it took a bit to get into.

The god of the woods is excellent! No fantasy. It’s a mystery but know that it’s slow paced!

I'm currently reading Lovelight Farms and I'm really enjoying it! I can't wait to read the other 3 books in the series 😄

Small things like these is more haunting than cozy (in my opinion of course) but wonderful nevertheless!
I'm excited to read it!
