If you're still in Chongqing, I recommend Le Shan 乐山 city, where you can see a giant stone Buddha sculpture carved from inside the mountains. Then you can move on to Emei Mountains 峨眉山, there is great scenery over there. And then you can go to 九寨沟 Jiu Zhai Gou natural reserves where you can see waters with various colors and cascades, etc.
If you want to go to Harbin, you should go during the Chinese New Year. The weather is still cold and you can experience the ice and snow world of Harbin. If go later, the weather will be hot and it will not be suitable. So it is recommended to go to Harbin > Xi'an > Beijing > Li jiang(Yunnam) > Qingdao.
I must clarify here that Chongqing is built among mountains, so there is fog all year round, which is not haze. Please do not equate the two. Chongqing has a title called "Heavenly Kingdom on Earth" because it was very difficult to reach this place in ancient times. The mountains were a barrier that made it difficult for people to enter, and due to the year-round fog, there was a feeling of being in heaven. In Chinese mythology, heaven is shrouded in mist.
That is not mist sir. Mist sits low to the ground and you can see no mist on the streets. It’s all high up in the buildings because it’s not mist, it’s pollution.

Welcome to China! The whole of China is divided into ten different regional cultures, and each province has different cuisines and human characteristics and landscapes. Chongqing, where you are now, is part of the Sichuan Basin culture, and the cuisine of Chongqing and Sichuan is one of the most popular in China. Watching your video you chose an iconic landmark that everyone goes to, but choosing to eat there is not a good choice, most of the food in popular places is usually for tourists, expensive and generally close to average in flavor. Get away from the bustle of the city and go to the areas where the everyday people live to get a better sense of the local customs.

Hey guys, when you go to Chongqing I highly recommend the photogenic Huguang Guild Hall. It’s a large and perfectly preserved example of traditional Chinese architecture, the best in town. Check their hours. They don’t open every day. If you have time you can get out of the city and visit the Diaoyu Fortress near the town of Hechuan. This fortress city withstood over 30 years of Mongol attack. This was where Mongke Khan was killed in action.

FYI, the coating stuff with the scallion is the pig intestine, which I don't think you‘d be willing to try. Second, the uncle outside the noodle shop is actually making noodles from sweet potato flour, however both you just ordered the normal noodles made from wheat flour. So maybe next time you can try the dish called sour and spicy noodle(suan la fen,酸辣粉), which is exactly the famous Chongqing style sweet potato noodle dish.
I have been to Beijing, Shanghai, Shuzhou, Hangzhou, Wuxi, Luoyang, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu plus JiuZhaiGou Valley, Qingdao. Heard a lot about Chongqing. One of the more interesting city that I want to visit, besides Xian and Harbin.
There’s an interesting historical site that maybe worth exploring: 60 miles out of Chongqing is the world heritage site of Dazu Rock Carvings dating from the 7th to the 13th century. Beishan (North Mountain) contains two groups of rock carvings and sculptures along a cliff face stretching for 300 meters. These date from the 9th to the 12th century and portray Tantric Buddhist and Taoist themes. (Wikipedia)
The drink is rock sugar pear juice, which has the effect of clearing away heat and moisturizing the lungs. However, it requires regular drinking to produce subtle effects. If you only drink it occasionally, it can only be regarded as an ordinary drink. In addition, rock sugar pear juice can be hot in winter and iced in summer.
If you have a frequent cough, it means that there is something wrong with your lung function. It is recommended to use pear as a daily fruit and pear juice as a drink.@@YenNguyen-yu5dc

@@ardanurrianda6144 It's Y25 rmb per pound, expensive as fresh fruits, but these are hand made Sweet Pickled Peaches. But converted to USD it's barely $3.50/lb. I’ve seen many videos about travel in Chongqing, this is the first time I see this temple!😮 The ticket included the burn incense, the guy at the entrance told you to take the incense for free.
Great adventurers! Now I know Chongqing will be in plans for our next visit later this year. We also would love to do a short River cruise. Loving your trip so far. Cheers from Australia.
The fact that you can't understand the language at all makes it hard to watch at times. But your personalities actually make it enjoyable adventure! Good job.
I couldn't stop watching this video when I started watching it last night 😊, continue for the entire video. I like your attitude as travelers, both of you embrace anything any scenarios came to you or happened at that point of time. That's should be the way that making oversea tour adventure and long lasting memories. Awaiting for next video. You are right, Chongqing is a second tier city , things there might not the same scale as Shanghai but with full of local characteristics and people humble and friendly there. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉😊😊
Dude What happened to YOUR videos? 😂😂 and again ChongQing local here, should you need any help (planning or guiding or picking restaurants) let me know.
Don't know if you guys travel a lot or not, but it's very handy to use Google Translate when you're communicating with local people in a country where you don't speak their language, it's more respectful than just keep speaking English without making any other effort. Been to ~70 countries, can't stress enough on the language issue.
Guys thanks for showing it from a traveler perspective ❤..there are a lot vlogs in China but most amazing, beside yours, are the ones with their huge development in the cities!
During the Spring Festival, many people in the city will return to their hometowns and the countryside for the Spring Festival, so it will not be particularly crowded! If you want to see a lot of fireworks, I suggest you go to the county or town and recommend you to find a local netizen to take you back to your hometown for the Spring Festival. It will be a different feeling! Haha. After 12 o'clock in the New Year, every family will set off fireworks and firecrackers to celebrate the New Year, which will last for a long time! Big cities may not feel it, because big cities will ban fireworks and firecrackers!❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🇨🇳
It is very glad to see your video in Chong Qing. And I wanna translate it when the elder sell the red berry which the price is 25 yuan for 1Jin (Jin is a measuring unit in China which is equal to 500g) So when he used the traditional Chinese scales and the weights was 2.6Jins at the first time so the price was 2.6 times 25= 65yuan and the second time the scales showed the weights was 1.6Jins which price was 1.6 times 25=40yuan. So there was no overpay. btw most of cities in China are using the measuring unit.🤣
i am just half way through the vlog, at the toilet/cave scene. this is the reason why i suggested chong qing when you asked which city you should go next. it is just "different" from beijing and shenzhen and shanghai. for me, beijing and shenzhen are just another big city, similar to shanghai, in vibe and structure. but chong qing would be different because i learnt from the net that in chongqing, one's ground floor might be someone else's 10th floor.. now, that is special. 😁 nevertheless, every city is different in its own way, just visit as many as possible. it would be an amazing experience and good for your channel. 🥰
You guys make me smile and laugh all the time! Love the idea “going with the flow”, full of frustration, surprising, but also so much fun!!! But still, didn’t see you guys eat the most famous Chongqing food yet, please searching it online, you are in one of the most famous food city in China, you have to try! Keeping going, enjoying your trip in China, so looking forward to seeing your next video. Thank you!!! 🥰👍✌️
Chongqing is a place to eat mala hot pot. Actually you two can consider taking a day trip to Chengdu via the high speed bullet train. Chengdu is also famoous for mapo tofu... as well as the pandas...
The coffee shop assistant recommend you to register as a member to get better prices. If you insist on paying cash, you can buy Luckin Coffee, which may be slightly more expensive than the membership price. There is a law in China that stipulates that stores cannot refuse cash.
Steve, you should try to meet up with Alex from Reportify Media. He's a fellow Canadian will probably give you more tips of ChongQing. He lives and work in ChongQing
The locals always expected Ivana to speak the local language and talked to her in Chinese and even local dialects without realizing you guys didn’t pick up anything they said. Like the guy in the temple telling you to pick your incense, which you guys probably already paid for as part of your admission, and you guys just smiled and moved on. That orange thing looks like intestines as it’s only natural to have a veggie and meat combo like that. The noodle man said to Ivava that she looks just like a Chinese, and that’s why the lady was puzzled after speaking to her in Chinese that two bowls of noodles were 57 Yuan and she didn’t quite get it. Locals were treating you guys fairly and didn’t take advantage of you two foreigners. Enjoy your time in CQ.
On the other hand, refusing to use translation apps other than google translate and keeping speaking English to the locals is also very frustrating to see. Not sure why they refused to use other translation apps. The continuous failure and struggle of communication is so unpleasant.
When you go to Harbin, it is better to purchase the VIP ticket for ice show in advance. Otherwise, you may have to queue for hours due to the high demand.

In fact, Chongqing has long been known as the "Fog City," so it often experiences foggy weather. This weather phenomenon is attributed to the complex terrain of Chongqing, characterized by undulating hills and mountains, coupled with higher humidity. Consequently, it has developed into a climatic feature where fog is quite common.
In addition to these big cities, there are many small cities in southern China that have very retro and beautiful scenery, which are popular destinations for European and American tourists, such as Lijiang,Yangshuo etc.
Refusing to accept cash is illegal in China. You can order coffee directly from the staff at the luckin coffee shop. Hope you guys coming back China soon and have a good time.

When buying food in China, the price is usually in Chinese catties, not kilograms. One kilogram is equal to two catties. The fruit price is 25 yuan/500g ,so 1.6*25=40. there is no doubt
Thank you guys, u show us a true face of China- safe, clean, manageble even very crowded. As a Canadian from hk, I never visit Chongqing. Because of fault news from media, Chongqing is terrible city. This video showed me how beautiful this city is- I'll put this city as my next travel destination. Good job guys!
That red fruit like one is actually candy, not recommended to eat because it's particularly unpleasant! When purchasing any fruit or candy, first use translation software to tell the other party how much money you need for the product, not how much weight you need! For example, for a product you don't know about, you can tell him that you want to buy a product for around 10 or 20 yuan, instead of telling him that you need one pound or one kilogram!
In China they use the jin (斤) measurement for weight a lot. It is half a kilogram, so you bought almost one kg of that fruit (1.6 jin). If you want to buy half kg can just say yijin. I think he gave you more, because he thought it’ll be easier to show you how much he was going to put in the bag so you could calculate that way, but I may be wrong
Hi! Glad I came across your travel videos. Chongqing is one of the destination I have plans to visit. Your video really helps me to have an idea of this amazing place! TQ
Hey guys Steve and Ivana, i am from Singapore, been living in Yunnan, Kunming for abt 4 months now, the "worst fruit" you guys bought is called beauty fruit (direct translation), taste like a preserved plum, interestingly i have no idea what its called, but is very expensive, paid around 10 rmb for like 6 pieces only.
Omg! You guys went to my hometown. I have been watching so many videos from you, and I love your journey in Shanghai. I’m so excited watching this video. ❤hope you two enjoy the journey
Love it thanks for sharing this awesome trip! I've never been to Chongqing always wanted to try the authentic hotpot. btw you guys should totally find a local guide haha, many locals only speak Sichuanese dialect too
In Chinese culture, the body is a container, and what is entered or eliminated every day is to ensure the balance of the body's operation. In addition to non-local attempts brought about by regional circulation, all places where spicy food is eaten are basically mountainous areas, basins or places with a humid climate. The smell of food stimulates the body to expel excess
What you got at Hongya cave, actually it's a type of sweet soup. It seems to contain rock sugar, pear, red dates, and sugarcane. 😊 I live with my husband in Germany, but I'm from chongqing. In April I will take his german good friends to travel in Chongqing. I am really looking forward to and very happy to introduce my hometown to friends all over the world.😉

Xi’An, Beijing, out of China (because it will be too crowded or empty), or other places?

There are two big rivers (top 10 rivers in CN) across the city, so why there are a lot foggy days during winter and sprint
湿度高,冷暖空气山上山下对流起雾了呗。和北方不同,北方干燥从蒙古往南吹的风会带起尘土
濕度太高,夏天跟蒸籠似的,沒有太陽渾身也是濕漉漉的
That is not mist sir. Mist sits low to the ground and you can see no mist on the streets. It’s all high up in the buildings because it’s not mist, it’s pollution.

Highly recommend Yunnan Province for your next trip .

You are two lovely people having the time of your lives. I found myself smiling ear to ear often while watching this video. Thanks!

If I have bad cough. How long should I drink this pear juice to get the good results? Thanks

Don't know if you guys travel a lot or not, but it's very handy to use Google Translate when you're communicating with local people in a country where you don't speak their language, it's more respectful than just keep speaking English without making any other effort. Been to ~70 countries, can't stress enough on the language issue.

I agree with you. You don't need translation software. Guessing can yield more random results, making the journey full of surprises

So there was no overpay. btw most of cities in China are using the measuring unit.🤣

this is the reason why i suggested chong qing when you asked which city you should go next. it is just "different" from beijing and shenzhen and shanghai. for me, beijing and shenzhen are just another big city, similar to shanghai, in vibe and structure. but chong qing would be different because i learnt from the net that in chongqing, one's ground floor might be someone else's 10th floor.. now, that is special. 😁
nevertheless, every city is different in its own way, just visit as many as possible. it would be an amazing experience and good for your channel. 🥰

I was always wanna to plan a trip to Chongqing sometimes just to feel the cyberpunk vibe. Hope there won't be too much fog at night

Good job Guys really nice video. One amazing hour. I hope you will make more videos like this one in the future. Cheers from Romania (Hai Rapid!!)
