As a grower of food, I have to say that "ripened like new fruit" are clearly words from someone who probably never picked fruit from a stand, let alone a garden. Also, most men (boys are what she's actually talking about) are not people she has to protect herself from. Maybe a portion of that population, but that is a very shallow take understanding half the population of the world, let alone that you can gather half the population into a paddy wagon like that. But so it is with her work.
@@orionsghost9511she was born in a country that treated women like shit so she probably did have to protect herself from most men, and she was raped. this comment is stupid.
you're a bad fan of Sav and giving her bad rep if you're gonna use other people's performances and success as an advertisement billboard for your favs. explore kpop fandom and see why fan behaviour negatively impacts the image and reception of a figure. you're spreading toxic fan culture. esseantially you just did what Kanye did with Taylor Swift. hope you've grown and evolved from this mentality as ik it's an old post.
@@3xitthissid3 ow but yes, you're right. i understand that it is wrong to put someone down to promote someone else. i don't even want to be a hater and your comment gave me perspective, thank you!
You can't have that time back. I stopped shortly after "come on, look at me!" That painted a clear picture of what was coming. I did give her a few minutes after that to prove me wrong, but it got worse, not better.
Literally as soon as this started the vibe was non existent, at 0:16 she said “come on, look at meeeee, I like got this whole thing made for you! I’m excited to be here, honoured, and feeing so blessed to be in your presence” which is so obviously a jibe at the audience for not giving her the reaction she was expecting when she wakes on stage. It’s a shame that there’s a lot of grandiosity mixed with disdain that she projects onto the audience, because some of her poetry is wonderful and very very well written, but she immediately patronised every person there and made it clear that she expects to be held in a higher regard by the people who’ve already paid money to see her read poetry, and who no doubt have bought some of her books. Rupi, don’t sneer at your fans like this it’s really awkward to watch.
Can we just call this something else? Clearly people who know about poetry say it’s not poetry, but it’s still something worth telling. Why can’t this just be called “spoken storytelling” or something?
it is still poetry - spoken word poetry has it's own vibe and is different from regular, written poetry, and the reason it's so on the nose is because listeners don't have enough time to mull on a metaphor and decipher symbolism.
yeah, I enjoyed the initial story a bit more than the rhyming speech that followed, but I can see her blending the two and coming up with something really enjoyable
I have always controlled myself as a man. I have always respected my female counterparts. Its actually why I'm alone partly along with my introvertive nature that just becomes more intense.
you know, she may not be a great poet but she is funny INTENTIONALLY. If she wrote intentionally funny poems I could see myself really enjoying them. hope she finds her voice
@Kiarabooth saying some random shit with your hands up and your eyes closed like you're possessed by the holy spirit without form, pattern or hint of a rhyme scheme doesn't make you a Poet.
@CD S well, you choose. you said that "read a book" only in it first comment. so i mentioned some. arent we talk about preferences? just wondered why you people got so offensive ☺️ you may have your own taste, just dont humiliate others
@@amyrhibyamy I think what you're struggling to understand is that public art is, and has always been, in need of critique. All human expression is open to critique. I'm sure you remark on things you don't like. That's part of being human, but especially in the world where art is presented (or pretense at art, sometimes). It calls for engagement, and sometimes engagement doesn't produce a positive response. No one has less right to express displeasure with the material than you have to express enjoyment and appreciation. I'm sorry. And, I have to agree with those who express displeasure. We just don't need anymore shallow takes on life. The world is filled with them, already, and it's leading us down a destructive road of decadence. It's her right to share, but it's our right to say this is brutal and not uplifting at all. It comes off to this listener/reader shallow materialism hidden behind a veneer of self awareness and an illusion of awakening.
Salonyy's video is bullying against another woman expressing herself in the way she naturally feels. She is bringing joy and meaning to others. Salonyyy, shame on your inability to celebrate another woman. You don't like what you see, but here you are listening to her 😂. Jokes on you. Shame on you trolls.
I had to listen to it to find out it was awful to listen to... it's hardly a "sick burn" to say "you listened to something awful and immediately figured out it was trash". lol
She was just parodying Rupi for comedic purposes, that's not bullying. Parodies are a thing, you know. And for what it's worth the result was pretty fucking funny.
I don’t even know who Saloney is but I’m glad to see we all find this lady cringey. Some of her “poetry” is creepy. I could make that shit up on my tumblr or for a Instagram caption.

There are so much feelings in those words. Unfortunately most people are empty and they couldn't understand the beauty in it. Her body also talked in a gracious way. She is a complete artist.
I agree wholeheartedly, she’s an artist. Every artist has there own way to showcase their art, and people don’t understand that. If they don’t like the way she talks about it or represents it then move onto something different.
