Kemi Badenoch, please keep moving forward on this path. I’m not saying to completely ignore the negative remarks about the past, but I trust that you will work to correct the mistakes made by the party in the past. For the future of the UK, its economy, development, and growth, please continue to strive to do your very best. Your leadership and determination are vital for our country. Wishing you all the success!
Absolutely. And stay strong. But if the Tories in their weakness and impatience knife you and start yet another leadership contest they really are toast, and it's at that point that I'll never vote for them again.
We despise liars, we despise those that fake their worthiness. . . we despise those that place others in the way of harm. . . we despise those that will not let us live freely. . . we despise those that ruin our peace, our hope and our trust. . . therefore we despise your party, and we despise your supposed opposition. We've moved on, so should you.
@ Agree. But not quite unbelievably. Same old, same old: look after the public sector unions and stuff everybody else, especially those whose work makes the wealth that pays for everything. It was ever thus with Labour.
Oh the bot farm fake support for the useless. Yes, we get it, Badenoch would be perfect for the destruction of the UK. Unfortunately for malign foreign influences, we already know she is useless and a grifter.
Fourteen years of failure and lies can't suddenly be forgiven by admitting past mistakes now. When in office, they must have heard the voices of despair and anger from their members and supporters but decided instead to ignore it. They deserved to loose alright and they deserve to be replaced by Reform.
@ No doubt. Plus the legacy of the last government (a similar problem Margaret Thatcher had to contend with in her first year as opposition leader) and the media coverage Farage can muster through GB News etc and through headline chasing. But, you live by the hype and you die by the hype (as Farage nearly came unstuck in his dealings with Musk). Fortitude and patience is the key. Public patience with "14 years!" and "22 billion black hole" is wearing thin already. It took longer than that for Thatcher.
@@Oceanvanguard58 Agreed, it took Thatcher quite some time to figure out how to pull off the role of LOTO, and she had four years in which to do so. People are understandably frustrated with Kemi and anyway expect things to happen much more quickly in this day and age, but I think Kemi needs to be given a chance. What is more worrying, though, is that we have the last county elections coming up in May before Labour's so-called "devolution" agenda, which would see unitary authorities replace dual-tier county/district local governments, is implemented in full. Labour have said that they're only interested in what county councils have to say, so it is essential that we regain control of every county council we can to see to it that this is implemented in a somewhat sane fashion. Otherwise, it will be a complete disaster, the way my CA colleagues and friends at District and County see it, even if it might actually be a positive thing in other parts of England. So Kemi does not have as much time as she thinks, at least as far as the future of local government is concerned.
@@StrixTechnica Hang onto your District Councils for as long as you can. I live in the biggest unitary authority in England - not only biggest by square milage but by population and financial turnover, too. In Blair's government, when the North East had its referendum on Region Assemblies - which it turned down flat - we in Northumberland had an additional ballot paper. John Prescott had decided that we would have a unitary council. He wanted to know which we were willing to surrender, our county or our district councils. We voted 2:1 to keep our district councils. Prescott then decided we must have been drunk and took them away, leaving us with a beefed up NCC. Of course, the local government mandarins all got pay rises out of it all and decision making is now much more remote and inefficient.
@@Oceanvanguard58 current thinking in our DC is that it's a fait accompli, to not to be an ostrich about it, and that the best we can hope for is a) to secure control at county level so we can b) guide it in the least harmful way possible. sadly, we're aware of just how badly things have gone in other unitaries, especially big unitaries. so we're doubly motivated not to lose DCs (if possible) and to avoid their fate (if otherwise).
correct. she sold all state infrastructure far beyond what any other country does including a massive supply of oil, and then rode that wave of free money at the country and future generations expense
No need, will do much harm by undermining UK-EU treaties, won't work anyway because it's the HRA 1998 and two UN treaties that prevent deportations, not the ECHR itself. Instead, enshrine Art. 33(2)† UNRC 1951 into the HRA and direct UK courts that this takes priority over Art. 8 ECHR. "Quite simply, a treaty is not part of English law unless and until it has been incorporated into the law by legislation" - Lord Oliver. This means it is the HRA, and only the HRA, that gives the ECHR any direct effect in domestic law, and UK courts must disapply international treaty where it conflicts with UK law as passed by our sovereign Parliament. † Art. 33(1) forbids this infamous "non-refoulement" to countries where 'refugees' would be under threat etc, but Art. 33(2) denies this protection to serious criminals and security threats.
@@StrixTechnica Thanks for the explanation. Please can I ask how France managed to deport that guy back to Tunisia (I think) for criticising the French flag even though he was a French passport holder?
@@zodp5690 I'd have to research that particular case to comment† but, if I had to guess, the answer is likely pretty much the same reasoning I wrote earlier: French domestic law is superior to international treaty, even if application of domestic law puts the French state in breach of international treaty. At that point, it becomes a matter for the French national government to resolve rather than French courts. The problem in the UK arises because we directly codified the ECHR, in its entirety, in the Human Rights Act 1998, which means UK courts are required to interpret and apply provisions like Art. 8 ECHR (right to private and family life, even though that isn't directly to do with deportations) rather than merely have regard to international treaty. We can't realistically repeal the whole HRA, but we can amend the HRA to address specific problems such as misapplication of Art. 8 in respect of deportations. In other words, such an amendment would allow UK courts to set aside Art. 8 in the same way France does. It wouldn't stop the person from bringing a case to the ECtHR who may very well rule against the UK, but it wouldn't be the first time the UK ignored ECtHR rulings. The ECtHR ruled in 2006 that the UK was in violation of Art. 3 Proto. 1 ECHR by depriving all prisoners of the right to vote, but we did nothing until 2017, and even that amendment granted only limited rights to prisoners. We never did comply with the whole of the original ruling. † Especially as France's system of law (Code Napoléon, aka civil law) is very different from our system of common law. From what little I do know of civil law jurisprudence, it may well be that French courts are very much more constrained by domestic law than UK common-law courts are.
@@StrixTechnica Thanks again. I always thought that before Tony Blair went all in on the ECHR we could and were deporting illegals just like France is doing today. However, since he went all in this is no longer possible. If what you say is the case then Kemi should get on board and adopt this and voice why simply leaving the ECHR as Reform want to do is not the solution and will do more harm than good. She should also point out that Farage does not believe in the NHS which I don’t think many Reform supporters realise.
I met people that worked at McDonalds for FUN?? Why would she think it’s a good idea to bring up the McDonalds thing again? How did she manage to bring trans people into her very first minute of this broadcast - a group of people who represent about 0.5% of the population at most - why is she so obsessed with this minority group?
John Crace is right: She's the gift that keeps on being given. I get a major kick out of watching her amazing non-performance at PMQs. Keep on keeping on, Kemi. Remember, no matter how bad things go for you, they can (and will) get worse.
I think the way nothing really changed after Brexit sticks in my throat , Could of been so good , Brexit was voted for I'd guess by 80% because of all the legal but mainly immigration from anyone in Europe coming here and claiming benefits,
Kemi I just watched your interview with the great Trevor Phillips I support you 100% but you need to get a deal done with Reform otherwise a split vote between Tories & Reform at next election may mean more years of this awful Labour government 🙏
Same old, same old, we've heard it all before by the opposition party, but she was quite happy to sit and say nothing to rock the boat while the conservatives were in power!
✅ BEST REPLY ✅ When Richie Sunak & Conservatives were in power, around 27'000 immigrants crossed the channel each year illegally while 490,000 were issued visas and allowed through the front door legally by Conservatives?
@@henrysevern Precisely, and the problem isn't even the ECHR in the first place. It's the HRA 1998 itself that give direct effect to the ECHR in UK law. No other European state did this, and we only did it because of the GFA. This is a problem that can fairly easily be fixed by Parliament. The UK does not need to leave the ECHR to do that.
@ yes, but Tony Blair imbedded the ECHR within the GFA. The problem is the GFA, knowing the law like Tony Blair did I reckon he did it deliberately. There are several reasons despite everything why I will not vote Reform or join that party. One of them is Reform and Nigel Farage cared nothing for Northern Ireland or the GFA, pulling out of the GFA could cause a return to the troubles and they appear gun ho about it. I think parts of the GFA and the ECHR should be taken out to enable illegal channel crossers to be sent to places like Rwanda. MP for Newark, Nottinghamshire Robert Jenrick knew this and resigned from Rushi Sunak’s cabinet over the issue. I told my local MP this, but they ignored me. That MP lost their seat at the last election, Robert Jenrick kept his.
Badenoch the country rejected your party’s corruption and lies. You did not make a mistake your party were well aware what they did was corruption. Stop trying to paint it as a mistake.
Things haven't been going well in the country for a while. Yeah... pretty much since the Tories took power in 2010. Your party, Kemi, who will kick you into the long grass long before the next election. Good luck in the next job
"This country is our home". So true. The place needs defending, clearing up, pride, investment in its fabric and infrastructure, new income streams, and modernisation, and it needs to sharpen up and get fit (physically and intellectually). We also need to be happier, and that might mean that rather than the pursuit of abstract GDP, we should be supporting getting things done and built around the house and by all members of the household.
If she had simply spoken, I'd respect this video. The fact that she speaks over a music soundtrack means it's simply marketing bs. I'll never vote tory again. This video was that final nail in the coffin of that vote.
Style is important to you, but to me it’s substance. If her style is all you can criticise, then I don’t think she’s doing too bad. Let’s see if she delivers on her promises. Either way, politicians of any stripe need to be courageous, and I admire them for putting themselves forward in the hot seat.
Follow in MargaretThatchers shoes, she sorted things, this government are just going to take us back.I am over 80 worked hard all my life but watch how money is poured out to undeserving people.Employers need help not more Taxes!
True that Thatcher valued free markets. The EU had a relatively free internal market, but barriers with non EU countries. Thatcher would have detested what the EU has become.
I find her insincere and false. She should stop trying to convince people that she's some down to earth working class person and just embrace her poshness. Rees-Mogg doesn't try to be a man of the people, he just is what he is. She can gain influence if she just sticks to undermining the opposition with better arguments and brings new ideas to the table. Right now, she just feels too contrived and scripted. Farage is going to kick her arse.
Trumps performance and relentless campaigning since the 2020 U.S. election made me realise what an absolute joke Farage is and is not leadership material. I agree with what he says but a prospective PM he isn’t .
Farage is more likely to kick his own arse. He almost managed it with the my-pal-Elon-Musk embarrassment and there's more of that to come. You live by the hype; you die by the hype.

Kemi is brilliant, we need to see a lot more of this. She talks a lot of common sense which the conservative party lacked for years since COVID and Brexit.. they had a great leader in Boris Johnson but instead of using common sense they booted him out which irked a majority of voters including myself.. I almost didn't vote as a result of this... kemi has one hell of a battle on her hands considering most voters at the moment aren't willing to even hear her out and give her a chance.. but things for the conservatives are slowly improving it will take time, Kemi gets my vote at the next election, I hope other voters will give her the time of day over the next 4 years and listen to her. Make a strong claim to reducing net immigration and illegal immigration, leaving the ECHR and stopping the boats, these are key to preventing more acts of terrorism in this country such as the Southport killer. follow in Trumps footsteps of attacking these issues from day one with tougher laws.. bring back the death penalty for the grooming gangs. Reinstate the winter fuel allowance or better it by improving pensions as a whole for the elderly and protect our farmers! Promise The farmers that if they do have to face Starmers inheritance tax that if you get back in with a majority you reverse and reimburse each farmer affected from day one of getting in. Then promise to reduce the harsh taxes imposed by this current labour government to get the economy moving again! No economy can survive in high taxation! Remember that conservative value from the Thatcher days and reduce them don't only reverse labours cruel taxes reverse and reduce. Lower taxes will also bring the millionaires back to this country. The people of this country need action, show the voters that you want to make a difference for the better from day one especially with the points I've highlighted make this clear that from day one you will do this and the votes will start to come back, but actions must be taken quickly if you do get back in remember that!
This is how all centre right (Conservative and Reform) people like you and me think. It’s common sense and it’s fair. Everything you mentioned David is what most sensible and fair minded people want.
@geoffhoward2028 the only trouble we have is with the current voting system reform and conservative voters remain divided by one another. From what I see under Kemi the conservatives ideas aren't a million miles away from reforms. But with the two parties being separate entities it gives labour the advantage as Labour voters will never stray from Labour. I would like to see Reform and the conservatives come to some kind of agreement to merge the parties, that way Labour would not stand a chance at the next election and likely face a total wipeout. It's not something that can happen over night but it would be a powerful statement from both Reform and conservative parties and could make Britain great again and a European economic juggernaut.
@@adeeptv2433 other candidates who could have been selected lost their seats at the election. Having considered Robert Jenrick I decided to opt for Kemi Badenoch and I don’t regret my decision.

I… am shocked at the lack of insight and irony. Yes. People want change. Every party has described problems with the UK, each with different priorities. But ultimately, nothing is done to meaningfully tackle such issues. The Conservatives have values and principles that I can relate to. But these are values of the ideology, not the party. People came out in droves during the riots complaining that they did not feel represented. We’re elitists like Rishi Sunak and Johnson representative of the common man? And now, this is exactly was Farage is pretending to be. 14 years. The economy did not just start falling apart when Labour came into power. It took years of neglect. Completely missed the mark. I thought you were actually heading somewhere in that you want to see the other party do well. This is your chance. Play a supporting role, play a shadow role. Don’t whine, scrutinise with the people in mind. Ask, is this what the people want? How do Labour affect the people? Become the representatives you are elected to be. And, tackle the blatant financial corruption in your party.
Good it's been long a long time not work been Dany in the Country, since 2005 Mrs kemi Badanoch. Leaber Party yes. God only been helping the Country and people.
'Leadership' of a democracy is not the same as leadership in a dictatorship (thank goodness). It's the skill of finding that narrow path you can draw those who didn't vote for you, to willingly follow.
Sadly Kemi when in power we did not lead but let the Civil Servants loose, that's got to stop but already Labour is perpetuating the same mistake. A British Passport has got to mean something and not be granted to anyone from anywhere in the World just as a safety net with which to leave the country and come back when it suits them.
Agreed. She says ‘I will d what is right, not what is easy’. However they have not set out any policies - this seems to be a deliberate ploy on their part. I want to know what these difficult decisions are. I’d rather not wait until the next election to hear this.
@ Apart from the one-track policy of leaving the ECHR and the vain belief that the Royal Navy can then simply shove rubber boats back onto French coasts, no problem, what are Reform's policies? How will they reform the NHS and the civil service? How will they restore our failed state education? What will be their proposals for taxation? Most of all, what is their foreign policy? I haven't heard one unsolicited peep from Farage about defending Ukraine, for example. And if Reform want my vote they'll both have to widen their portfolio of policies and demonstrate that they're not soft on Putin and agents of appeasement.
What are you going to do differently? That's all well and good that "you're changing," but what policies would you implement? Don't be like Labour, who with so much time and so many failures from you should have come out with such a great platform and disappointed.
The Conservatives were not 'kicked' out, they were voted out. A sufficient number of voters were unconvinced by the political arguments forwarded by the then Conservative government, to render that government elected out of power. The reduction in MPs after the election, who were standing as Conservative Party representatives, reflected this in numbers alone. A government that is reduced to blaming others for failures of governance, after 14 years in power, is self-evidently not governing, and thereby is failing in its prime purpose. It is a feature of decaying a civilisation to retreat into its own tiny shell, to exclude the bigger world, not unlike a snail, when the principles that support its authority have become exclusionary. Like the great ruling families of our history, interbreeding reduced, not increased, their abilities. They are now largely gone. Mere shadows of what they once were. The few influential individuals having capitulated, and married into fresh blood, in order to survive. Now, so too, must the Conservative Party. It's exclusive, yet must become inclusive, in order to survive. It must welcome all comers. Imagine if the 'illegal immigrants' had been recruited into the Conservative Party. They're largely educated young males, a group that ought to naturally inhabit the Conservative ranks. They're people, no different from any other citizen of our multiracial isles. Isles, you'll recall from your history lessons, that consist almost entirely of immigrants over the centuries. That is the strength of the British, our complex set of qualities, not merely a tiny few due to an isolated existence denuding the pool of variety. My point is that the Conservative party needs to stop pointing and blaming, and cringing at 'different', but seize the, now normal, multicultural world population, to increase our power and influence once again. There is no need to physically conquer nations. All you need do is cross fertilise (as it were). The Conservatives need to offer a broad church, friendly place, where intellect and not brute force wins the day. I hope there is no need to point out the numerous appalling misjudgements of leadership that, through bulldozering rather than deep thought, wasted millions achieving nothing but dislike and dismissal. 'When digging yourself into a hole, stop digging', seems apposite to those former Ministers. You're the servants of the people, not their dictators.

Kemi, you need to leave the ECHR/HRA or whatever else is holding us back. Kemi, if you match Reforms rhetoric you remove their power. Kemi, if you match the "one conservative" crap that we've sadly had you won't win this war. Im looking forward to the next M Thatcher, she's as controversial as you are, that's why she's a legend - you could be too.
Yes Kemi, so much needs fixing now. Unfortunately we have no assets left that you can sell off to cover your tracks, our children can no longer shoulder the burden for the "worry about it later" Tories.
Leaving the ECHR would not fix the problem. The only thing that would is to overhaul the HRA 1998 to allow deportations. The Rwanda scheme was completely daft and was never going to work.
So remove more of my rights to solve a problem created by removing my rights No thanks not 1 politician in this country is trustworthy enough to be solely in control of my human rights The ECHR was created by Churchill who knew our rights needed to be protected from exactly this sort of politicians
I really worry about my fellow citizens sometimes. This comment is a prime example of demonstrating why the average IQ is 100, there necessarily need being many below that modest threshold to give that average.
You are so wrong lass. Conservatism has always been about thinking about well how you spend what you have rather than having enough not to worry about what you pay in the super market. The first leads to achieving 'head room' which provides security and choice; this mind set must always continue. The Tories lost because personally the majority of MPs were demonstrably more interested in their own personal selfish wants over the county's needs and need to set a good example to the electorate. This is what history also tells us has been at the root of the decline and fall of Rome and many other civilisations.

The problem is its OK realising & being sorry but many decisions either taken or not taken by the 14 years of Tory government have had very serious consequences for Britain that cannot be reversed & will be with us for decades & in some cases like mass uncontrolled immigration have changed Britain forever. Starmer is dire but he is just making an already broken Britain worse.
Too little too late. We voted for you time and time and time again. Everytime your promises were broken. The reason being complacency. This is prevalent in Labour as well. There’s too many people that vote for the 2 parties out of habbit. What they should vote for is a good manifesto. They should read every manifesto and vote for their favourite.
@ To Labour and conservatives maybe. But that’s their complacency- they have this complacency because no matter what they do wrong, they will always have people vote for them. Because people vote for them out of habit instead of an informed decision.
I'm not saying we don't need to sort out the boats, but it's been a welcome distraction for both parties from the elephant in the room of millions of people legally coming here in the last ten years. And that's what needs attention on more than the boats.
Would you prefer somebody who is as pale and Anglo-Saxon as me but who hates this country and admits to being ashamed of its history - like we have now? 14 years to be a normal Conservative party with common sense policies! You continued the Blair project at breakneck speed. Unforgivable. How could the likes of Rory Stewart ever have been part of the party?
As long as your main goal is to one up Labour and chase statistics, we're not interested. We don't need fake sympathies and understandings. We need somebody who doesn't thrive on division and hatred, pushes for a cohesive society and doesn't sell themselves off to the highest bidder. Tories and Labour are only concerned about their own survival like the CCP. You make one group feel unsafe by vilifying the group you don't need for votes. You drive GDP up not through small British businesses but corporations based in London. As far as I'm concerned you are both of the same coin and I don't feel like we, the public, actually have any leverage on any matters. We're merely animals being farmed for tax money to be squandered left right and centre. I am loyal to my country, I'm not loyal to any political party. If Conservatives get their act together then I'll very well vote in your favour, but I don't sense any urgency to fix this country, only an urgency for your party to get into power.
The Uniparty and government over reach needs fixing. I voted for you all my life until this last election, but there is no chance you will get my vote again. You can't just reset 14 years with a 4 minute video. You need to follow the example of the Republicans in the US. Be laser focused on what the people who actually contribute to the country want to see, not the takers and moaners. Reduce the size of the state by cutting out management and lower taxes. Encourage a merit based society and not one based on DEI. Encourage people to start families so we don't have to import people at every increasing rates. Put the UK first in everything you do. Deal with extremists with an iron fist, and don't let them hide behind religion or multiculturalism. People are angry... we need to see some fight and urgency. This video is a huge miss.
Exactly this. So many people I speak to feel this way. We currently have the most dangerous government in British history, who will do terrible damage to the country.
The day Margaret Thatcher was forced out was when things started to go wrong.

Leave the ECHR
Moron

You can't just crown yourself the best reply 😂

Margaret Thatcher was one of the worst prime ministers in modern British history
Created the worst economy ever and pissed all our wealth from North Sea oil up the wall supporting it. We never recovered.

Jeez, but you're a gullible fellow! Now, I've got a lovely bridge for sale that London doesn't want anymore...

But what are the answers? What are the Conservatives going to do? Yes change but how are you going to change?
The Wolf of Badenoch.🐺 is a loner in the political landscape. Tyrants beware!!!
What are you going to do differently? That's all well and good that "you're changing," but what policies would you implement? Don't be like Labour, who with so much time and so many failures from you should have come out with such a great platform and disappointed.
INDEPENDENCE FOR YORKSHIRE!!
Danelaw, was our country before England, clearly 'England' just means 'London'.
Yurp! Keep they Lancastrians OUT!
And you will be lucky to ever get back in you and Labour are the same your just a big joke .

The first leads to achieving 'head room' which provides security and choice; this mind set must always continue. The Tories lost because personally the majority of MPs were demonstrably more interested in their own personal selfish wants over the county's needs and need to set a good example to the electorate.
I would urge the Conservatives to become the Conservatives again, not the Liberals in disguise which is what we mostly had for 14 years.
Rishi did rhe best under the worst possible circumstances and has set a high standard for looking after the indigenous, unlike Labour, and Keir who are destroying UK with its policies and hitting the indigenous from all directions and favouring the Illegals above indigenous - Labour Hypocrites. Unfortunately, they got in due to a protest vote, and now those who made this protest vote blunder are realising their mistake.
No he wasn't
