A horse trainer I watch always says, “Stop looking in their eyes! It makes it too threatening. Keep your eyes on their feet not on their face. Also when they turn to face you, take the pressure off immediately and turn away. Again, it reduces the pressure.”You are surely caring and trying so hard to make their life better. Thank you for all you do. You are angels to these animals.

I think Shady is the cutest little horse. He would be a great size horse for a kid. If you could get him trained really well a young kid a girl teenagers small girl teenager would be great for him. Pussies as cute as a bug.

Yes, very important that when you put the pressure on them and they look at you, you back away to remove the pressure and reward them. ❤

I love your guys' channel and what you do! The only thing I saw what the first horse shady is no release of pressure you have to let the pressure off of them by turning your back and making them come to you sometimes that works so much better than the constant pressure you could get hurt pretty bad if you cause a horse to be under too much pressure, as they can eventually explode but this is fantastic! Great job guys keep up the good work. ❤❤❤

Can't tell you how much I enjoyed this episode. The only thing I missed was Pauly putting in an appearance ... then it would have been perfect! Was absorbed by the different injuries and conditions these horses come to you with ... and how you treat each one. But, of course, the best was my weekly dose of that slippery little critter, Shady. He IS coming around though! Slow and steady wins the race and all that. My hat is off to you all for taking on horses about which you have no background information whatsoever ... and changing them into horses that are adoptable. No beatings, no screaming, no harsh words ... just steady patience and persistence. 🙂

A natural remedy for ulcers is bentonite clay, which works better than omeprazole. It treats and prevents. You just put it in their grain, but avoid adding other supplements with it. A really good company for thrush or white line is B Gone- it’s a small company (I’m not associated with them, just love them) they have a clay consistency treatment and it sticks so well- even in the wetter climates. Just a couple of suggestions😊

I absolutly don't want to know what happened to Shady in the past. What made such a gentle horse so traumatized. He doesn't bite, he doesn't kick, he wants to relax and he wants to feel safe. But he is just so scared that he can't help but return to old habits he must be doing since forever to be so deeply scarred into him. Like he knows you don't want him turning his butt to you, but he has such a hard time getting out of his habits. Poor little boy, his future owner needs to be very patient to fully get him to trust humans again, wish you all luck to find a great home for him and the others.
    I love your work

It's not hate, but they are doing a lot of things that are not helping these horses become easily adopted trail riders. Might even be detrimental to their ultimate goal of finding these horses good forever homes. They need someone more experienced in equine behavior and body language. Not hating, but when someone cannot admit there own short comings they cannot grow and learn as a person. If you can't learn something new everyday there's a good chance you know nothing.

Pro tip: to stop Vet Wrap bandages falling down, put a few heavy duty cable ties vertically within the folds of bandage. People use these for boning (stiffening) in corsets to stop the fabric clumping up and wrinkling, and it works just as well in bandages! They are flexible enough not to cause problems for the horse.

Listen up . There are people who believe they are kind to animals who oppose the human interactions . Those that think that vermin should not be controlled .
Who want rabbits to die a nasty death with Mixamotosis .
Then theres those that are experienced or think they would do things differently .
Well barns are usually green or grey in the UK and we ride differently .
If they feel they Know better than you , then they could volunteer at a shelter near them.
Finally there are people who offer sincere advise in a constructive way .
Luckily you know the difference . I learn watching you and I learn from the comments .

just a genuine question because I am just starting to learn how to train my 2 year old on basic ground work. when working with shady and you put pressure on and then he does what you want (ie turning towards you) why do you not reward and then take the pressure off for a minute or so? It may just be the way the video is presenting it. Are you trying to get him to move forward more quickly?

The honey you are using has been filtered and processed and has lost all or most of its beneficial properties. You need raw honey from a local bee keeper. It's vey important that you do not buy it from a grocery store. I have health issues and grocery store honey does absolutely nothing for me, even raw grocery store honey (even it is somewhat processed). I source my honey from a local bee keeper and have seen a lot of health benefits. I have been researching natural health for years, as I have been healing. I am currently detoxing and my health issues are just melting away. There are herbs and natural remedies and detoxes that can be used to heal horses, reduce pain, detoxify them, etc. Sometimes they eliminate the need for medicine, but if not, they almost always reduce the amount of medicine needed and can almost always be given safely (they are much safer than meds) alongside most medications. I encourage you to be open to natural healing and not over vaccinating (yearly vaccines are too much, no vaccines are best- read the ingredient list on the vaccine insert). There are wholistic veterinarians that treat both naturally and with medication when necessary. They are the best! I take my cat to one and I love her! She respects my stance as an anti vaxxer.

I've been watching trainers kind of on the whispering school side and while I am not a trainer it seems the horses at the rescue are kept then placed but I wonder at the level of training is being inappropriate as it looks like it is irritating to the horses. And all of the talking may be too much because it is not a part of what the trainers are doing
