How has it been one year already!! Time flies when you're having fun right? Thanks for following along this past year of all our truck camping adventures. Stay tuned! Many more to come!
We have a 2020 palomino 8801. We didn't like the tank less hot water heater. We were wasting so much water waiting for hot water. We swapped it out for 4 gallon hot water heater. Game changer! No more wasting water and hot water within minutes!
Yes! Tankless water heaters waste so much water! Vince slightly looked into getting a hot water heater - but not ready to take on that project right now. Our workaround with the shower works great for now. I can definitely see us considering it in the future though.
Tip for the tankless water heater. When having a shower don't turn on the cold tap. Just set the temp on the thermostat to what you want and only use the hot water. Works much better.
It’s awesome that you feel so content with your truck camper. That’s not always the case and, of course, we could always go bigger and so-called better. I have a small travel trailer and I love it. That just goes to show that everyone can find their happiest way to travel. Generally, Im pretty frustrated with warranties and dealer service departments. Like you, I’ve learned to be handy and I’m so glad I have DIY skills. My project for this season is to insulate the front end of my travel trailer. Like your truck camper cap, Ive found that the front wall of my trailer has no real insulative qualities. I can’t wait to get it insulated, as I do enjoy cold weather camping.
I couldn't agree more! Everyone has their style that works best for them. There is no right or wrong way to enjoy the things you love. Wishing you many safe and wonderful adventures with your setup!
Hi Guys! I bought the Palomino version of your camper after seeing your videos. I had a big two week vacation from KC to New Mexico, AZ, Utah and Colorado. I still love my HS-750. I have also watched your upgrades and followed suit on several of them. I have not had trouble with my bathroom door but im thinking of removing it now lol. I can not do without my microwave for heating up leftovers tho. Thanks for all the info and keep bringing us great content! P.S. i wanna do that electrical setup you guy have!
Awesome!! So glad you are loving your Palomino as well! We definitely have no regrets about this purchase. Although we've had a few hiccups... overall it's treated us really well! Thanks for watching and safe travels to you!
Hi guys, that’s a very nice camper. Thanks for sharing it with us. Im new to your channel. One suggestion from someone who has lived in Arizona, all of my life. I would not be wearing sandals in the desert like that if you come across a Choya, cactus and your foot gets anywhere near it. You’re gonna wish you had never come to Arizona.just because I care about you getting hurt please swear some solid shoes when you’re in the desert. Cholla cactus have a barb on them. They’re very hard to get out you’d most likely end up in the hospital.
I also have the 8801 That door for the bathroom is a mess. I used toggle bolts and solved the issue as the door is hollow. Gonna do a nautilus door next. I really enjoy the tankless water heater, yes it takes a minute to warm up but if you just use the hot water side and not with the cold water it is so much better. The I upgraded the shower to the higher flow with in line shut off and and it works great. I have the hot water set at 117 degrees. I also upgraded the kitchen faucet as well. Installed a 2000W Inverter with the vatrer 460 amp hour battery. With 400 watts on the roof I can run the AC for almost 5 hours! I did install the 6 inch access for the water tank. I. think we have the 20 gal as well. I take a extra 12 gallons and fill up on the inside. yes the clean out access is awesome. Other wise these are decent truck campers if you know how they are built. Nice job on the front cap insulation. HUGE difference in temps and sound! One other suggestion is tank heaters if you are doing any cold weather. I installed these and they draw about 140 watts but they keep all the tanks around 50 degrees. I you have the Maxx air fan unseal the 3 way so you can move air in and out. That mad a huge difference!
I have loved watching you all, just want to make a suggestion regaring the shower and hot water...you can install an rv hot water recycler for less than $100. This would allow for unlimited hot water as long as you have a heat source. Look into it, you'll never regret it!
I'm trying to decide on a TC set up... choices galore and seemingly endless trade offs to consider. Thanks for sharing 'real world' aspects of your camper. I think I saw where your camper brand has discontinued that front sliding window due to leaks and now offers only non-sliding. Very enjoyable video.
My bathroom door fell off too! I was able to drill in a new hole and its been fine. I had to add another latch because the magnet wasnt strong enough if i ever had to brake hard which would cause the door to slam forward.
Yup, we did a new hole and even secured it with 2x4 - still broke the second time. So we were done. LOL That's definitely something Palomino should do better at!
You guys are so funny Starting off by saying how you had no issues at all and then going through a slew of leaks cracks and breakdowns you had with it…😂😂 Sad but very typical of the RV industry 😢😢
Hi there from Ouray! Holy smokes….where did that year go? In someways, it seems like you got your rig 2 months ago. And then in other ways, I almost don’t remember you without a truck camper. I am really happy that your rig has worked out well for you two! As a broken army guy, I do appreciate the room of my travel trailer. But…I can totally see the benefits of your set up! This is all exciting and I look forward to more of your adventures! We are going to head to Palm Springs for the Thanksgiving week. Then the first week of December, we will be in New Orleans. And then a mid December trip back to CA. After that, my work schedule relaxes a bit and I will get to use my travel trailer more. As you know, there is only 2 months a year that I don’t winterize between trips. But…I always say, if I am winterizing, then that means we just got back from fun in the woods or desert…..and we will be soon heading out on another. Safe travels!

I would use 3M 5200 caulk for your seals to the outside. It's a marine-grade sealant, I use it on my boats when I have to seal things up.

Considering you didn't remove your tailgate, how well does it withstand impacts? Are there any dents or damage from rocks?
No damage or dents!! 😊
With everything you changed/added, your budget obviously knows no bounds.
Lol theyre using a pump sprayer as a shower, rich people wouldve had somebody else redo the plumbing

Do you have a link for that stove top? I also dont like the one that cane with it. Its so slippery, pans fall off the element 😅

How are you handling the space on the bed, I was looking at this model but dislike the height in the bed area compared to other brands
We don't have any issues with it. It's cozy for us!
Tank water heaters are the only way to go in my opinion 9 yrs of off grid.
Airbags, comfort ,support, stability. 350.00 bucks
How much fresh water can you carry and do you feels it’s enough
