    +1 For the Spider X. I was was a 2-Ball guy for years until I got the Spider. The stability and feel of the face are amazing. It has helped me get up-and-down so many times and helped me shoot my lowest scores last year.

    no reason for me to leave my nike method origin blade, but made the mistake of trying the gt spider out at the store. Loved the confidence with the short slant hosel. Just placed my custom colored spider gt order. cant wait for it to arrive. Great review, trottie!

      Hows the face? Soft or really lively? I cant control distance with “hot” putters at all. I actually used a Wilson Gamer from dicks($60) for 2-3 yrs just because if was so soft. Currently play Cleveland Huntington Beach mid mallet, also soft. I gave my buddy my Calloway White Hot mid mallet because its hard as a rock and uncontrollable for me. Since i switched to soft i rarely dont get ball inside 2-3 ft and it doesnt matter length, even 30-40-50 footers. Something to think about maybe.

    I like the mallet style putters for longer putts, but really struggle from 10 feet in with them so tend to stick with a more traditional Answer style.

    Firm, firm, firm believer if you are not a very good putter of the ball you have no business using a standard blade style. I am also a firm believer if you are a decent/avg putter a mallet with a soft face will instantly make you better and give you confidence. The soft face will allow you to hit a putt instead of having perfect distance control like with a Calloway white hot for instance. Great putter but super lively, hard to control.

  • @Possumzz

    I was always under the impression that a mallet is always the better choice when playing slow greens since every putt is going to be firmer and has more potential to be off center.

    Face inserts would be nice. Was also wondering if the lets say the face insert were to wear down or break, could you purchase a replacement? Or would you need to just buy a new putter entirely

    I have yet to try a taylormade putter I like. Currently running a 33’ Cleveland soft 4 premier. I tried switching to a Scotty 33 with 40g weights and 35g weights. Even tried closing the club face a degree. I can’t get away from how the Cleveland soft 4 putter feels.. trottie, I’m a plus 4 handicap. And I’m averaging 1.6 putts a round with a blade-26-27 putts a round.. I’d love to bring it down to 23-24. I’ve never also used a mallet for a round. I’ve always putted with a blade, I also is p7tw, and tw wedges with. 50 sb09 m3.. love flighting with my 50.. it’s deadly accurate.. what I need help with is sometimes hitting the greens on a par 5 and being stuck with a 55 foot putt.. hard to get the distance right I’ve found.. probably because I’m not finding the middle on hard swing.. I’ve changed my game to try to stick to 100-120 yards coming in on par 5’s so I’m only putting 15-20 feet instead of 55-60 And leaving 15 feet of work still… I don’t want to switch putters as I’m trying to get into a Monday open, and I’m worried trying to switch could cause me another month of getting my putting back on track..

    Why did you not bring the spider x hydroblast to retail with a short slant, i love mallets but my concern is the best players all have an element of toe hang and not face balanced and I’m not a fan of the flow neck.

    I play the x hydro blast the one in the video and have become a really good lag putter and rarely 3 putt anymore. There is something about the putter that makes me have a really good judgement on speed. Just wonder if I should be using the blade because all of the greats did tiger, Jack, Phil, sam, Ben

    Not a fan of face balanced putters , if amateurs want to improve with putting they have to embrace the arc and get rid of trying to straight back and through stroke . I ditched the mallet putters recently after 10 yrs of trying them and went back to a long neck blade putter my putting strokes gained stats jumped for the better immediately on putts inside 10 feet. Get a putting arc swing trainer matt and practice with that

    • @trottiegolf
      @trottiegolf  2 роки тому +1

      It's in the middle. Keep in mind the FCG (Forward Center Gravity) will give you a different release & the copper insert will make the ball come off quicker. Energy transfer going to be different as a result of the insert material

      @@brad5958 I have had a slant neck spider x yes. I just personally prefer the milled face of the Cameron. I can feel the miss hits a little better. As far as toe hang my numbers do not change very much if any going from face balanced to 45 degrees of hang. It doesn’t take much human force to override toe hang in the playing position. A lot of coaches think toe hang is irrelevant. It will be more mental than anything. U see guys change from slant necks to plumbers neck and even double bend face balanced putters on tour pretty regularly having good results with them all.
