- We explore together the small town of Amedi, or Amadiya, and after the visit, and wonderful views over the region, we go for a special dessert, a kunefe. The guy of the kunefe shop refuses that I pay him... every day someone offers something for free, here, in Kurdistan.

@@carmelagillan9821 i have my "morning routine", to follow few people who are not so, let's say - fancy, even some of them have a lot bigger budget then Yves (D. Philip, for example), but must be nice in a relationship with locals... and Yves is one of them for sure. Sometimes he is not so careful, but ok. All of us wish him a best luck and i hope this Ethiopia path is open for him.

brother in ur first episode where you meet the youth , in the first clip the first food shop you ate , right beside it is my uncles shop which left me mind blown it is a very small city ! i highly suggest you check it out one of my cousins speaks fluent english and it could be a cool interaction it was in the city of semel brother , best of luck !

I was born in Amadeih and originally is assyrian land not kurdish you forgot to mention that it was under Assyrian Empire.
For your information, the Parthian and Sassanid empires are not Persian Kino, Parthians were a very close relative of Medes and the Sassanid empire was Kurdish. Amedi is way older than the Persian empire, it was part of the Median confederation which is way before than Persian empire. Medes are the ancestors of modern Kurds. We Kurds had several important confederations in the Zagros mountains like Mannaea, Lullubi, Guti, etc...
In all part of Kurdistan, there are cities with Med in their name which mean the city of Medes like Amed (Diyarbekir) in North Kurdistan, Amedane (Hamadan) in East Kurdistan, and Amedi in South Kurdistan.
Hope you visit Rojhelat/Rojhilat (East Kurdistan) as well

@@KinoYves l do not understand why they are biased when it comes to Persian empire while we have exactly a same history and same calender any any elements which connected us together like nowruz and so on....Persian was and is a combination of same people and culture who came together and set up that great empire..it is not belongs special community and language ...all people with historical connection came under one umbrella

Usually I insist off camera, because on camera, they will never accept that I pay. But because I filmed them, they will never accept that I pay, no matter how much I insist.
These guys know that foreigners don't insist as much as locals, and usually they accept very quickly that I pay when I don't film. But the camera makes a big difference, and then it's not about ta'arof anymore, they really don't want me to pay.
It's mostly because of the camera, without the camera, I am always able to pay.
It’s usually happens between the locals , one pay for the other or the owner don’t accept to let one he know to pay …. But if you INSIST so much to pay it would be like that you refuse his hospitality or generous and this is not nice

I totally agree. But when a camera is being pointed most people want to look good on camera. Only way to show reality is with a hidden camera. As in this video. UA-cam yeh a guy asks. Says alot it can promote your establishment has well by giving food away. Your big establishment eg Mcdonald won't do it giving food away, but other small independent ones will. People get excited when a camera is pointed or get negative.Yves is just filming his experience to us. Profit can be made and that's why some do it, Then we got yves he don't say subscribe, or highlight a sponsor, he don't hardly use planes, or high end restaurants or international fast food places. So my thoughts are he likes to share his experience of travel to others so we can see a genuine side of a human who just ain't doing this for money.

What a shame as usual from Barzani zone! These guys in Mersin Kunefe shop are all Kurdish but they keep saying it is originally Turkish! Even those places they mention are all Kurdish cities in North Kurdistan like Dilok which fascist regime of Turkey changed it to Antep (Gaziantep). This is how fascist Turkey tries to eliminate anything Kurdish in North Kurdistan, Turkey tries so hard to assimilate, genocide or simply eliminate Kurds in North Kurdistan and make everything Turkish. We are Kurdish and we stay Kurdish.
