@@bunnitomoe3866 How do we know that Adewale never knew Roberts was gonna betray him? Also Adewale and Edward's crew did betray Edward. Show's how deep of an understanding they have. They're basically brothers from different mothers
I mean who wouldn't wanna leave a 1700s prison?
It's how boys become buddies for life.

It's sad to see how Adéwalé started to enjoy sailing on the Jackdaw, but gradually was fed up by Edward's greed and ambitions. Had Edward not been like that, they could be Assassin friends. And he would probably still be Edward's quartermaster.
Adé was a man who valued the democratic ideals of the Pirate Community far more than any loot and it shows.
The quest for the Observatory drew that side out of him.
They're still friends, Ade just found his calling with the Assassin Order and Edward found his own by becoming a father. In the end, they (sorta) helped each other find the place they needed to be.
@@tjjordan4207 Actually, Edward also became an Assassin after his pirate days
Adewale still respects Edward when he reprimanded Haytham in Rogue
Adewale is one of the deepest and most beautiful character in the whole saga.
The living representation of the Creed.
Exactly
Edward and Ade: *One of the best duo's in AC franchise...*
only in black flag, he was shit in rogue
@@RentFreeInsideYourDamnHead agreed
Edward would've been proud of how far Ade came after Black Flag.
He probably would've been sorry that he wasn't a better person when Ade was around him as well.
Adéwalé was the voice of reason of the Jackdaw and a competent quartermaster(and temporary captain, so in a way, he did lead the Jackdaw after all), that's why the crew respected him. When Edward constantly fell in an spiral of greed and selfishness, the Jackdaw's crew turned to Adéwalé in a way. They did care about Edward, but seeing that their captain was falling apart, they turned to the next sanest person around, someone more reasonable. Even though they didn't voice it, the crew of the Jackdaw considered Adé as their captain, especially because Edward was putting himself before the crew.
Ade does warn Edward about crew getting restless before Edward discovers Hornigold's treachery
Two details that caught my eye
7:02 Obviously in the era they were in, that is something someone would say, but I love Edward's response. Shows that at the very least, he respects Adé and what he's done.
Then at 11:00 Whether it be from Edward standing up for Adéwalé, Thatch not caring about skin color or whatever other reason, Thatch still talks to Adé with respect, even looking him in the eye and calling him sir.
Both scenes subtly shows how Hornigold and Thatch treat Edward later on. One becomes his enemy and is out for himself, the other helps and fights beside him to the end.
better than black live matter
I'd hardly say Hornigold was out for himself. He just became disillusioned with what Nassau had become. Say what you will about him, but he was right. There was nothing guiding the people there, no ambition except the next time they'd eat or fuck. When that's all your community is about, things tend to fall apart pretty quickly.
Hornigold's disillusionment and induction into the Templars stemmed from the fact that their so-called "free society" completely and utterly failed. By the time Rogers came into town offering a pardon, Nassau was little more than a rat-infested, disease-ridden slum that could best be compared to a trailer park. Hornigold was fed up with the aimless living, rampant disease, and a community doing nothing to improve itself.
I heard that Thatch “Blackbeard” was known to fight slaver ships, free the prisoners and let many of them join his crew historically.
He most likely saw him as an equal, but a man who he just met.

@@suckmytoessaltyandsweet4715 in the mission where Roberts betrayed Edward. Before the cutscenes wraps up, it shows Ade and Edward's crew leaving him for dead. They absolutely screwed Edward over, then when Edward came back, acted like everything was completely fine
@@camm3217 I'd like to think they were driven away by Roberts' crews. Yeah that's still kind of a dick move. But Adé is a kind of guy who cares about the crews. Perhaps Edward made an order to abandon him if he doesn't return? Y'know, that kinda thing in Pirates of the Caribbean? He was in second command after Edward anyway, he has a responsibility of keeping the crew safe.
Either way, we don't know what happened there, and why.
@@camm3217 Edward betrayed the crew first by associating with Roberts. The duty of a quartermaster is to look after the welfare of the crew. What do you wanted? A cult who follows Edward blindly?

I prefer Adewale as Quartermaster over Anne Bonny.
I agree. I feel like the players felt more connected to him more than Anne

It’s sad how Adewale fell and aided Achilles with his greed and madness
It’s sad how he left Edward because of his greed but Ade died because of his too
Ade didn’t see Achilles faults so it
Isn’t his own being, Adewale at heart was a good, honest and kind hearted assassin who had 1 goal which was to protect freedom and the brotherhood which granted him that ability
The poor guy gets killed by his trusted captains son.
@HOLYFEAR96 Not to mention Ade betrayed Edward in Black Flag as well
He deserved it and Edward forgived him because he knew he was at fault.
@@SD-ff3uy Edward didn't deserve to be left for dead like that though. They pretty much dumped him in Bartholomew Roberts' hands and abandoned him. Edward may have forgiven him, but it doesn't make what Ade did to him right
@HOLYFEAR96 Haytham helped though.
@@camm3217 The odds were overwhelmingly AGAINST them at the time, & Ade did try to dissuade him from being stupid & getting in league with Barty, but Edward wouldn't listen. had Ade chose to stay, chances are fuckin' off the roof that the entire crew would just get overran by Barty's people. given rescuing their increasingly reckless captain would only mean jeopardizing everyone's wellbeing, either right there or afterwards, i'd say he made a good call dumping Edward. he was, after all, the quartermaster of the Jackdaw & his responsibilities & LOYALTY were FIRST & FOREMOST, to the crew of the Jackdaw. whether he wanna continue being the lackey of a reckless asshole who cared for just about no one but himself at that point, was beside the point.
As a crewman of the seas, pirate or otherwise, you're loyal to your captain because through your captain, you're doing right by your ship & more importantly, your crew. if your captain's actions REPEATEDLY go against the will of the crew & jeopardize everyone's wellbeing, you'd be doing right by said ship & crew, to just dump the captain instead. Edward only has himself to blame for Ade deciding to save the crew & cut him loose.
Addy is best bro. Always has Edwards back. Gives council when needed and tells it as it is even if it’s not what Edward WANTS to here (in regards to Edward actions against the assassins and telling him he’s leaving his crew to join them)
Why did Haytham wanted his father’s ally dead so much?!
@Stephen Gaming
The "black-and-white" aspects of the Assassins vs Templars can be maddeningly frustrating at times.
Stephen Gaming because a he’s fought beside a assassin that became a assassin that worked with unworthy assassins .
Because Haytham was a brainwashed fanatic. He longed for the assassin life, but could not bring himself to betray his templar ideals, allies and all of his hardwork. It costed him his life by a man better then him, his own son.
Haytham was brainwashed plus I don't think he ever met Adewale as a kid so he didn't really care.
He was also a threat to them and his death would mean that the Assassin spirit of the Colonial Brotherhood would be crushed
Adéwalé has one of the best voices.
I love this game so much. I remember getting it for Christmas back in 2013 and being so happy to play it. I love Edward Kenway. He’s my favorite assassin
Love both Edward and Adewale, both are great, 27:50 Edwards face 😂
Yeah when i watch this i want to hate Shay even more he had a chance not to listen to the Colonial Assasins but not join the Templars too but ohh well i guess he fell into deep despair
In Assassins creed Rogue Shay is actually the good guy. Adewale and the Colonial Assassins were corrupt and the bad guys in Rogue.
Have you even played ac rogue?
28.30 Edward character is one of the best development in the Ac series. Also, reading the Ac4 book, Edward wanted to be rich because his wife gave up her riches for him. Also, he's hardly a womaniser at all, compared to what you see in the trailers, the only woman Edward been with is only been with is Caroline and his second wife Tessa. I think anyone would agree with me, if they read the book
Considering that the game lets Edward bed prostitutes and indigenous women in Grand Inagua, I'd say you're wrong. :-P Edward's redemption arc is that he goes from being a drunken, thieving, murderous, womanizing buccaneer to a remorseful, repentant assassin and father. It's a darn good arc, really. I love it, lechery and all.
True that. But he does admit he is good looking man. His first job he used his good looks to swoon his customers.
More reason I don't like Assassin's Creed Rogue. While it's nice to be in the shoes of a Templar, I didn't want to face Adéwalé and see his fate. The worst part is we never get to see Shay's fate at all in any games. The Switch version is near and I wished the game was separate so I can play AC4 alone.
Well, sorry for being 6 months late but apparently Shay lived a normal life and died of normal causes.
@@oblivious6774 He made his own luck lol.
We never really see Connor's fate, Arno's fate, or the Frye twins either... which I'm fine with. I don't mind not seeing the characters die of old age or injury, and at least Adewale went out a champion who was mourned by his own slayer. You could tell it broke Shay's heart to do it. He's a reluctant anti-hero, at least until Paris.
Shay clearly didn’t want to kill any of the people he did but he had no choice because they didn’t listen to him about any of the stuff he tried to tell them. So yeah
I didn't know the singer Seal's ancestor was Adewale. He must have an eagle vision.

Didn’t realize how historically accurate this was. A high percentage of pirates were black during the golden age of piracy, many being forced into that life because of the slave trade. How Adewale meets Edward is actually similar to one of the stories about the pirate Black Caesar. The original Black Caesar eventually became a lieutenant for Black beard aboard the Queen Ann’s Revenge. Interesting history
