You're the first reactors I've seen that not only realised that Kabru was Laios's antithesis......
...but understood the root cause of why he doesnt want them to win the dungeon.
Laios could be easily scammed by children.
Heck last episode we realised they were technically scammed by the Orcs.
That is not someone you want holding infinite power.
kabru even equaled laios to the governor (both have low EQ) but so many people missed or dont get it because he was shittalking their favourite boy laios lmao

@@syzler8664 Laios is not unintellignet. He is just very socially awkward and maybe autistic.
Kabru himself is a self righteous crusader for what he belives is right. He is quick to judge people and make snap decisions about whether they "deserve" to life or be dead (he went OUT of his way to make sure, that the people that ambushed him would not get found to be revived! They tried to scam him, he murdered them for it...)
Kabru also is willing to manipulate and lead people along for his own gains. He needs to grow up and is arguably way less deserving of holding any power than Laios is.
It's funny to think that Kabru's party said during the first time they were introduced that "It's easier to kill monsters than adventurers" and yet they already got bodied by monster's twice and make easy work of the humans that tried to ambush them.

Context for what was said about Namari, Senshi and Chilchuck(not spoiler, it’s from supplementary material):
1)Dwarfs are very heavy on “small community mentality”, so guilt by association and discrimination of outsiders are frequent, dwarves who don’t belong to/were expelled from the local community won’t be able find work or even buy food, as was said even working with the same people as an outcast once worked would taint a dwarf’s reputation
2)Chilchuck is the leader of the local Half-Foot Work Union, part of his job is preventing other Half-Foots from getting involved with shady contracts, but Mickbell misinterpreted it as personal greed because of his distrust towards authority, Chilchuck is also harsh on Mickbell because he’s a scammer who propagates negative stereotypes about Half-Foots(imagine a Black Rights Activist dealing with a Black Gangster)
Kabru is like reverse Laios, he doesn't understand monsters but has deep insight on people.

@@hyobro8392 That bit about the mage’s situation is pretty easy to understand when you hear what everyone calls him. He’s the “Lunatic Mage” that destroyed the kingdom and turned it into an underground dungeon that doubles as a soul trap after his king died. That pretty much tells everyone everything they need to know about his mental state.

One of the things I love about this series is how everyone is so fleshed-out. Nobody is just a one-dimensional villain, as it goes on we get to see more and more until we understand who they are and why they do the things they do.
Kabru’s party could have just been evil rivals to the main gang. But instead they’re all people with personalities, beliefs, and relationships. Kabru especially is one of my favorite characters, the way that he shifts from “hey, I don’t know about this guy” to “this dude’s making total sense”

Facts
It's important to note that Kabru's party only died once so far... but they don't know that. The treasure-bugs only paralyzed them, but the corpse retrieves lied and said they had to revive them.
Laios &co DID take Kabru's party's treasure, remember? Senshi separated it out because it's inedible, then Chilchuck and Marcille threw it away.

I realized that no matter how good your personality is, if you are weak, you cannot survive.
A good personality can be a good weapon if directed correctly.
It's funny because if Laios and Kabru teamed up, they could very much be an unstoppable force. One can't read humans for his life and the other struggles to comprehend monsters.
Laios conquering the dungeon and relying on Kabru as an advisor or minister of sorts could be a fantastic compromise and way to properly protect the citizens.

Delicious Dungeon worldbulding this episode and character development really made this anime A LOT more interesting than I initially thought it was
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there's such a thing as "dark elf" in the Dungeon Meshi universe. I think no matter the skin tone they all fall in the elf race. I seem to remember the Queen of the Elves depicted as having black skin (like Marvin the Martian). So it's probably a mistranslation or an umbrella term for an elf that uses Ancient Magic.
A dark elf is a basically just what the other races call elves who are assholes and commit what other races consider crimes (but elves might not), so technically the mad sorcerer IS one.
By the way the Elven Queen is an Obsidian Elf, it’s a rare genetic trait like Albinism and represents “Royal Blood” in the elven kingdom

@@YaBoyRockLee well, the most famous “Dark Elves” are the Drow from D&D, which are basically evil subterranean elves, one of the unfortunate cases of using the black color because of the association with darkness then getting accidentally involved with race issues, “brown elves” are actually a Japanese thing,but I digress…anyway a lot of stuff happened and we now have 3 main types of “dark elves”:
1)corrupted by a great evil power
2)culturally evil(so nurture and not nature)
3)discriminated innocents(it’s the most common Anime)
African Americans claim that all brown Anime characters are their own people.

chilchuck wanted to form a guild for half foots on safety and secure pay for his kind due to the jobs they do is dangerous with ppl screw over halffoots on pay or literally used as bait in the past. his intentions isnt bad, issue is half foot culture view it as greedy. i say culture cause remember they only live at avg 40-50 years if age normally. half foot mindset is life is short, live it to your fullest, if you see it open go for it and to them its 2x compare to humans. so many half foots saw chilchuck intentions as greedy with him profiting off and get rich fast with the short life he have.
also from side chapter: halffoots nicknames are mouse folk (because of their ears round and big like a mouse, some call them ratfolk but way its said is like a slur/derogatory way) and other name is goblins with other races see them as greedy like stories of goblins, which they dont exist in the world and exist as stories to scare kids. funny is half foots call tall folk trolls which is brought up in a side chapter.
4:00 that scene of them getting attacked was completely removed from the manga. in the manga before the scene of laios and group found them dead and looted their resources it showed scenes of kabru group rushing downstairs to the lake lvl, fought some of the water creatures and when they found the sirens the mage of the group cast an silence aura for them to cross without getting enchanted. but they were not ready for the merfolk ambush which you see very briefly here which lead them to how they were when laios and group found them.
also heads up: expect possibly more "they edit/removed" this scene. why? first half of the anime covered volume 1 to first few chaps of volume 5.... out of 14 volumes. repotedly its only getting 26 eps so that raises alot of questions from manga readers on how the hell they gonna shove in 9 volumes into avg 13 eps? ppl say they may get approval for another season which i hope so. also in a way kinda blame the author for messing with studio trigger plans.
by time trigger announced adapting the manga they still have time and them and others assumed ryoko kui wont finish the manga till say early of this year. that never happened cause she rushed the last arc of the manga a bit. why? on her tumblr its because she wanted to go on a month and a half vacation to play baldurs gate 3. dead serious. so she ended the manga about month before bg3 release. ryoko is a giga nerd for fantasy rpgs and played elder scrolls, pathfinder, baldurs gate, dragon age and such she brought up once in while.
she later apologize and said she will broaden and wrap some stories up in volume 2 of adventurer bible which came out back in january.
so im guessing if trigger gets greenlit of another season then its gonna be mix of the last manga arc + adventurer bible vol.2 stories to finish up characters stories and lore of the world.

In a world without dungeons and monsters, Kabru would be much more influential. Unfortunately for him, he's out of his element, since he's best at reading and killing people.
Kaburu's problem isn't that they're weak, they're just super unlucky and while they boast they find monster killing easier, the fact is non in their team are monster experts. Meanwhile Laios's have 2 monster experts, himself and Senshi.
and tbf, They have the right to call Laois and co thiefs, because it is TRUE, that they took their treasures (eat half of them and threw the half away) and they did took their grains without permission. So yes, Laios and his teams are thiefs in their eyes.
Just be patient with Kaburu, he's actually the other "protagonist" of this story. 😅

Kabru's team aren't weak. They're just stupid against monsters. This isn't a spoiler because we're way past the event already, but the reason why they got wiped out on the water was because Kabru had Rin cast deafness on everyone to prevent them from falling to the sirens' song. So the fish-men ambushed them from behind and no one heard them coming. That isn't unlucky, just dumb. Admittedly, Laios' solution leaves much to be desired, but hey, it works.

mirkbell years back when trying to steal from a merchant he found kuro locked up. outside of kuro and kabru homeland (yeah both from same place) kobolds or beastkin are seen as savages or freaks, so the merchant got kuro in a cage and plan to sell as a side show attraction. mirkbell freed kuro knowing it aint right, the merchant found mirkbell and plan to kill him till kuro came back, did the aggressive face you saw and knockout/kill (its vague what happens to the merchant after) the guy. with that mirkbell decide to hire kuro by paying him with food. kuro hungry didnt mind it but also thankful to mirkbell for freeing him.

Kaburo's group seems more corrupt than the Meshi gang, purely off the fact that they unapologetically kill humans they don't like while simultaneously claiming to be paragons of justice. They're interesting for sure, but I definitely don't like them.

I don't know why ppl seemed to like Kabru, I think maybe cus he's a ”normal guy", unlike Laios who's a weirdo.

He doesn't judge people by their cover. In fact, that's exactly the problem. Anyone judging the Touden siblings by their cover would see two very nice people who care for their party members, even those who'd left. It's because Kabru can see under the cover and know what those ex-members are doing that he thinks badly of Laios. He's just missing the fact that Laios is totally clueless about what those guys are doing, but that's also because Kabru overanalyzes things and refuses to accept at face value that someone as naive as Laios can be one of the top adventurers in the dungeon (Laios is currently at a depth no other adventurer has managed to reach).

For me, unlike Laios, who's goofy and sometimes living in his own mind, but trying so hard to learn how to interact with other people even he's so bad at it, Kabru, in the other hand, because he's so good at analysing people, often be self-righteous, he Knew people, but never Felt them.
@@r0963297539 The heck you talking about? In the manga he instantly changed his opinion of Laios after seeing his interaction with Shuro. Kabru realized that Laios was extremely naive and dangerously insane when it came to monsters, but generally a good guy with a purpose. That's why he at first wanted to do the right thing and play it both ways at the same time, supporting Laios in his quest in the dungeon while reporting Marcille's use of dark magic to the island leadership. His idea was to force the island to deploy more adventurers to clear the dungeon under the pretense of hunting down Marcille, but in effect inadvertently helping out Laios' party. That then changed again when the elves showed up, and Kabru went to fully supporting Laios and hiding Marcille's misdeed. He was spending the first few days of his travel with Misurn trying to delay the Canaries to buy Laios time. It was finding out about what the dungeon was that flipped him into supporting Misurn against Laios because he instantly realized Laios was exactly what the dungeon wanted (and he was right). Kabru is very much able to change his opinion based on facts available to him and ALWAYS acts correctly under the circumstances once his understanding matches reality.
Kubro "knows" people and just assumes they are all rationally bad and evil because he thinks is the only way people survive, he is oblivious and indifferent to humans seem them as tools almost, he has a obvious bias toward that when their friend bring a rumor and take it as true, he see a situation and assume it as bad, if he judges Laios on a exange he not aware of the context them he is just a puritan.
Laios know monster and is "indifferent" to people because he has ADHD (at lest seem like) and he has problems with all monsters because he seem them as "instinct" based like the Kelpie he said its a dangerous animal but if the dwarf could tame it he would be indiferent, same for the sword and the plant, he want to study it yes but he is way more focused on the "humans" be alive when come down to it, he is problem solving focused, "you died we can revive", "its a plant that eat man but want to know if grows on land no worries i can kill it", can be scary but just more cold logical approach.

the "smugglers" could be helping in other ways or be people doing something he didn't like but instead of killing he offer a new thing, it rational and logical but he doesn't express it, maybe smuggling is better them go trough buracracy, we saw how Laios didn't react to the orcs and elf politics, maybe he don't care for him would be best to let go of the best and just reajust to current situation, that is the rational thinking but none of the 2 would like the answer.
