How did you do this moving back sandy surface?

I think he just kept the cars in place and moved the sand pieces back every frame

@@swstopmotions4390 but look at the horizon when the ground movies backwards. If there were big sandy plates, you would see those pieces disappear and it would look very rugged. It's not. The scenery behind is fully smooth.
