    Leaving the outgoing hose off whilst filling the new filter is essential advice. I also filled that hose up with fuel before pushing it on to the spigot - started first time - runs so much better now!!

    I love how these TDI's start right up, the starter turns over once and the car starts.

    Just did this yesterday on my ALH. Get you some clamps/vicegrips and squeeze off the fuel lines, dont have to worry about priming or air bubbles. I usually run diesel purge directly from the can too. Also lol @ 9:07

      Thanks. I think you still need to fill the new filter.

    Thank you, good video. And I use the same method you described to fill my fuel filter, use the vacuum pump to suck fuel into the filter.

    Lol, at the people busting on you for priming the filter with old fuel... it would be a pretty odd design for that fuel not to get run back through the filter anyway. And even if it does... these cars run long enough a little dirt in the fuel won't be what takes it off the road. I have to redo my fuel filter. I think it's been over 35k miles. She's at 379k.

    • @gregs_garage
      @gregs_garage  11 місяців тому

      the fuel in the old filter isn't dirty anyway. The filter may be getting plugged over time but it isn't "dirty". It's a clean sealed fuel tank.

      Just how and when to use it. Maybe recommended products. They have the red and white bottles.
      My car doesn’t start when the weather is below freezing.
      I also have a pan heater but have no clue how to use it.
      I found your content easy to follow and super funny, so thought it could be helpful!

    Filtrul trebuia sa fie umplut cu diesel inainte de a-l monta, nu cand sunt yoate furtunele montate. Si nu era greu sa pui diesel curat, dintr-un flacon. Nu e mai bine sa introduci diesel prin teava de input?

      no just fill the filter is enough. A little air will get bled out as it runs.
