Eurorack DIY: 909 Handclap (Episode 2)

- I need some drums in my Eurorack, so I'm building some 909 modules.
In this episode I will build and test the 909 handclap module. I'm using a solder paste stencil and reflow soldering for the first time.
At the end there is a short demo of the module
You can find all of my designs on my GitHub:
github.com/tki...
Some modules that I have designed myself are available in my Tindie shop:

Thank you for watching!

As always, great content! I love that the video is exactly 9:09 minutes long :D
Haha... That's was a total coincident!
Thanks a lot for your comment 😊
I just built the clap and it sounds absolutely amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your design.
The built itself was fairly straightforward, I only struggled with the 4015s on the noiseboard. The footprint of those is quite a challenge to solder by hand, but doable. After those the rest of the built was done in a breeze. Thanks again!
Awesome! I delighted to hear that you like it - it's one of my favorite 909 voices.
The 4015s are a bit tricky so I actually included the PCBA production files on my Github along with the gerber files.
@@MeeBilt I didn't order the PCBs myself, so I had to use what I got. But is there a reason why you didn't use the SO-16-footprint? A lot easier to solder and easier to source. It would have possibly resulted in a slightly larger PCB, but this isn't really an issue here, is it?
No criticism whatsoever, I'm just curious ...😃
@@joerglaier4093 I was planning to reuse the noise board for all my designs so I actually ordered a batch of 5 PCBAs. The TSSOP-16 footprint was chosen because it was cheaper and easier to source for some reason.
Woah, this is so neat
Thanks a lot!
Great work as usual Tommy!
Thanks a lot, Patrik!
Love to see new progress on the 909 series. Any plans on selling the pcbs on tindie? Would love to get my hands on of these :)
Thanks a lot! I plan to do that at some point, but I need to redesign some of the modules first, to fix some issues.
Sounds amazing! 9 minutes 9 seconds 😊
Thanks a lot! 😄
Great work, can it do double hand claps if its triggered correctly with 2 trig pulses ?
yes, it can do "flam".
You should connect the unused LM13700 inputs, Iabc pin to the negative voltage rail via optional 1mOhm resistors and the buffer output back in to the buffer input to disable it all. that's how a Texas Instruments engineer on their official forum explains it. Al datasheet say you should never leave inputs floating, radiation from space! Where do you get you solder paste? it should contain a best before date. one sells a pot worth more than 100€ from china.
Thanks @AnalogDude_ I will check that out.
The solder paste is from Aliexpress and I but it in small quantities and keep it stored cold when I'm not using it.
@@MeeBilt First i need to quire a clothing iron and modify that with a triac, optocoupler, fubarino to make a heat plate. but solder paste is not easy to get.
