This was amazing!! I’ve traded my newly Zf for the Z6iii and from all the “Debbie Downers” discussing the reviews of DR and other issues of the Z6iii, you’ve just proven to me that I can use this camera as a good all arounder and not worrying about what folks say. (I can afford the bigger 45 mpx cameras. Anyway, thanks so much and I LOVE Ents, probably as much as Tolkien did.
Thank you !! I think the Z6 III is a great camera that works excellent in most scenarios. I truly believe that there are differences that can be measured, but the "Dynamic Range" is more than what you need in regular landscape etc. photography ! In all my landscape photos none of the highlights is burned out, i.e. I can make them black without any artifacts appearing. At the same time one can push the shadows as much as needed. So totally fine and no real difference to the Z9 in most scenarios. One area where the camera particularly shines and I think it is even beating there its bigger brothers / sisters is macro photography. I will highlight this use case in my next video. Cheers Michael
@@DynNat sound fantastic and can’t wait to see. Would love to see my DR photos from the Z6iii as well, and hopefully others will put some out there too. I just subscribed, so thank you very much!
Thank you for sharing your view. I also agree. Considering the performance boost due to the partially stacked sensor the disadvantage in dynamic range seems acceptable ! Cheers Michael
Question for ya. I want to set my z6iii for 3 different settings, something that I can just switch and go. Landscape Birds (moving around) Portrait Is it possible to set these setting in some function buttons? (Sorry, I’ve only shot manual and auto, I’ve never saved any settings to certain buttons). Could you help me out?
Sure - I am completely reconfiguring my camera by assigning specific custom buttons and settings. I am currently on the road and will get back to you this evening. Cheers Michael
So my setting are U1,U2,U3 always on AF-C with 1/3200; 1/1000; 1/320; Back-Button focus only; The first two with wide-L and the last with wide-S (with animal detect). I am photographing always electronic shutter at 20 FPS (I press only short in case I want to have only 1-3 pictures). Metering: Center averaged - I manually compensate with the +- button; Raw only - CF Express ; SD card only used in case CF Express is full; Custom Settings: Disp -> AFOn single point AF without animal detection; FN1 -> 3D AFOn Animal detect; FN2 -> Full AFOn area Animal detect; Record button -> change shooting mode; ISO button -> change AF mode; Joystick Press - Focus Recall; FN on the lens Set Focus; I hope this helps. You do the changes by using the f menu f2 for the buttons. You set the U1-U3 under System -> safe user settings. Cheers Michael
@@DynNat Wow! I am going to have to do some studying up for sure, but I think I can handle it. Lol This does help; tremendously! Thank you so much for taking the time to get back with me.
It depends on how much money you want to spend. For landscapes and travel I think a Z7 has the best dynamic range and 45 MP resolution. I think the Z8 (Z9) and Z6 III are cameras for action photography (sports, wildlife) and videography. So if your main aim is to do landscapes & travel photography and basic videography a Z7 II /I would be best. You could also get some nice lenses for the money you have saved. However, If money is not an issue I would get the Z8. I would get the Z6 III if you want an all-round camera with extended ISO range for action with slower lenses. I hope this helps. Cheers.
Honestly very little. The biggest difference is that the Z9 has a crop (DX) mode which once it is activated gives even better tracking. The Z9 has more AF-points that allow this. However, full frame I had no problems to follow the small song birds in the forrest with all its distractions. In short if you intend to crop the Z9 is clearly better giving you more reach at the expense of more sensitivity towards noise. The Z6 III has a great noise performance allowing to use the more narrow apertures/slower glas in dimmer environments or at higher shutter speeds. In terms of tracking of birds I would not hesitate to use either of them - they are both really fine.
That looks like a wonderful hiking trip! Great video and beautiful photos!!
Thank you - it's a great place !! Also well known for its bearded vultures !
Have you seen any?

Same experience here between my Z8 and Z63...see very little if any real world difference in DR.

Should I get a Z6iii or Z8. I am an amateur, I generally shoot landscapes, travel and want to venture into night photography (Milky Way etc)

Impressive place and nice comparison.
AF betwen z9 and z6iii?
Significant difference for birds in flight?
