What are your thoughts?
This is crazy finally!
It's great, an ultra wide angle f2.8 lens for $599
Really interesting! Thanks for always keeping us updated!
You bet!
Meh. As a R5 and R3 owner I'm still waiting for 3-party lenses. Disappointed that Canon shut down sales of the auto focus version of the really nice SAMYANG AF 14mm f/2.8 RF lens.
I'm ready for it!
Gonna be sick!
I shoot Canon APS-C so this is awesome. I know you really like Sigma but Tamron also made an announcement that they got the license as well. Be interested to see how they stack up against each other.
24-70 f2.8 Pls Sigma
That's the one everyone is waiting for!
Finally!🎉
It's been so long! Even though I don't shoot with Canon i'm glad they opened it up for the Canon shooters who follow me!
Sigma RF 50mm f1.4 Art for FF please
You got some calculations wrong. Canon APS-C is 1.6 not 1.5. so the 18-50 is a 28.8 to 80 for example.
I’m a canon user, but I don’t have any RF mount lenses. I have all Sigma EF lenses on my Canon R5c. I love Sigma lenses.
I don't even shoot with Canon but this is huge!
Right!
How is it different from canon 17-55 2.8 Is Usm? If I have the canon, is it worth the change to the sigma for the R7? Is a comparison between these two possible?
I would like to see a decent Macro lens, maybe an 85 mm macro f2 or a cheaper 35mm f1.8. I heard that the expect price of the 18-50 will be around 5-600$, which is way better than 2500$.
The next Sigma Art DG DN lens could be the new 135mm. And a new smaller 150/2.8 Macro would be nice too. Until then the whole Sigma i family of compact primes would be very welcome on RF.
Good video, Stefano, however it pays to do a bit more background research before releasing your video. All of the Sigma lenses you mention are also currently available for other mounts besides E-mount such as X-mount, L-mount and, in some cases, Z-mount.
Thank you and yes I know they are never said they weren't. I work with Sigma and know of all these lenses already!
Stefano was only talking about the specific lens he was holding which was the e-mount. He was not saying that the sigma lenses are only in the e-mount.
This is huge! The R7, R50 and R10 are amazing cameras, but without good lenses, or let me refrase, good lens for a reasonable price, it doesn't make sense, like put a 3000 dollar lens on a 800 bucks camera! And having to use the adapter dos not make sense, cause you kinde lose the purpes of a small camera! Even Canon does not make good glass for the APS-c line! So I think its a win-win for them, this cameras are going to sell a lot more
Can I use 10-18mm f2.8 on my R6 MK ii?
It is an aps-c lens however yes you can still use it on Full Frame, you'll just have vignetting in your frame. Most full frame cameras have aps-c crop mode you can switch it into or just zoom in a little!
My R10 now can have less expensive 18-50mm 2.8 🎉🎉
It's a game changer for people buying into Canon and don't have $3000 to spend on lenses!
Thank god 😂
I sold my r6 and r5 a couple months ago and switched to Sony bc I was so tired of not having 3rd party RF lens options
Yea! I know so many people that have done this for this exact reason. They lost a lot of people because of this!
only APS-C lenses are allowed. Canon lets third-party manufacturers do the work that they themselves don't want to do
So it's all just fake and no real opening for third party manufacturers
Interesting... I've heard a lot of people saying this that Canon hasn't really opened it up
