I decorate like you. I love using natural touches. I am not a Halloween decor gal. I have 2 items that are Halloween and they go up for the week of. Everything else is fall. I start with a fall cottage shaped tea pot that was my Grandmother's. Fall is my favorite season

Thrift store prices are a little crazy here. Options limited as well. Found a dress at our local Goodwill. Cat and Jack new with tags. Had been clearanced there at Target. Goodwill priced it higher than Target.

I’m afraid those feathers on the mantle will catch a spark from the candle. Just my fear of fire.

I love, love, love your videos. Your home is beautiful and I so enjoy your decorating style. I agree with you that thrift stores have gone crazy with their prices! I live in a big city and it is really hard to find bargains at thrift stores, so I don't go much anymore. Thank you for sharing! ☺️
In Autumn I switch up my roast chicken by adding in apples.and skipping the lemon I'd use in summer. This is really nice with sage as the herb of choice and some celery leaves.
I always love your style and warm welcoming videos. I also love the Ralph Lauren decor and try to implement it in our home for is very comforting. Great thrift finds.

Since I worked outside of the home, I had just enough clothes for my kids to last a week. Because Saturday was laundry day. But, if I was able to be home, they would of had less clothing. My kids at 37, and 34 now. Grandkids have enough for a week. Their parents work.

One of our Thrift stores was pricing some furniture when I went in this week. They were pricing 2 seater couches that had obvious stains and marks on them for $100. Ridiculous prices. Some of our other stores are brilliant and I would rather donate to them.

I found a tinker toy set at the thrift store recently. Wanted to save it for Christmas! Checked the price tag, $49.99! The lady at the counter told me it was a typo and gave it to me for $4.99! She also gave me a fantastic deal on a couple bins of yarn.

Wow…..just one bin? I have a storage shed full of bins 😅. My house is larger and I even decorate the bathrooms. Everything stays up until Thanksgiving. I am retired….so so have lots of time to do I.

I love the Brambly Hedge picture book! I just finished a Brambly Hedge jigsaw puzzle. It is a set of four seasonal puzzles and I just finished the winter story puzzle in the spring 😊
So sweet! I must've seen those books/images in years past but only recently have I understood how absolutely darling they are! We have one of the puzzles as well, it's a birthday scene :)
If you use hairspray on the hydrangeas they will last so much longer!

I LOVE my apple peeler, you can adjust one of the screws on the side opposite the handle, to push down, the 'corer'..and just have it peel. I use mine to peel potatoes as well for mashed potatoes.

Hilary, I love your fall touches. So simple. Here in Australia we don’t decorate seasonal except Christmas. And I always avoid watching seasonal videos because I think so many are over done but yours was just right. ❤

Wow great haul ! Yes our goodwill has become expensive but still has some less expensive items. I don’t mind higher cost at some thrift stores like Salvation Army since they are helping those in our community but still want good deals.

My eyes popped out of my head when you held up the sewing pattern for the nightwear. I used that exact pattern in the mid-80’s and made two nightgowns (one with long sleeves and the other with the butterfly ruffle at the shoulders) and the housecoat. I HIGHLY recommend that you make the housecoat (we used to sometimes call them a “dressing gown”) and a nightgown. You will get far more use out of the housecoat than a nightgown- but I encourage you to make the nightgown too. How many of us ever get a matching nightgown and housecoat? Sorry if I sound pushy!!! It’s nearly impossible to find a lightweight long housecoat and you have the perfect pattern for that! I wore my housecoat for years. It was white but I wished I had used a pastel colour instead because the cuffs started to show light stains that no amount of bleach could remove. Please let us know if you do make something from this pattern!!

Hillary! You've got me inspired. I swore I was going to bring out my Fall bin on September 1st, but the heat kept me from really feeling it. Now, here in SC, our mornings are also starting to cool off though it's still winding up in the 80s during the day. Today I'm bringing in the bin to see what I still want to use. I love it all - blankets, pumpkin candles, comfort food. The one thing I do miss, however, is the colors of the leaves up North. I'm looking forward to upcoming cozy videos!

Hello from Portland, Oregon! You are going to love what we call the Apple gizmo. We used it to prep our crop for Apple Butter yesterday and will follow up with Applesauce. A huge time-saver. Hot water bath canning will finish the project.
My boys already loved testing out the apple gizmo ;)
Love your home in fall. I see familiar items which is always nice to see. Our whole family (5) don't like long sleeve anything. We all get too hot, even though we aren't all related. Ha. As for thirsting, our local chain is plain awful in pricing. All coats are $20 and up and a lot are $60 or more.

Thanks so much! I shared about those in our built-ins makeover video, but essentially I found the pair on Marketplace and they were hardwired. We converted them to being plug-ins and they plug into an outlet on that wall, but I can turn them on and off with a little knob on each sconce. The shades were a recent-ish update, they're from Fermoie.
Onions would add alot of flavor with the veggies under the roast chicken.
Did you use all of your batch cooking that you froze for Summer meals ?
Most of them, I have maybe 5 or 6 left 💛

That's a great idea! Tablecloth is tricky because it's only so wide, but I could absolutely do napkins
