Great harvest!!! The golden beets are gorgeous!! I don’t like beets myself, even pickled. So I wouldn’t grow them for myself either. Carrots and potatoes etc though yes!! I can’t wait to start my garden next year. ❤thanks for sharing as always
It has been decades since I have eaten cooked beets and I did not really enjoy them back then. As tastes *do* change with the passage of time I just might enjoy them now- I don't know. I don't recall every having eaten pickled beets. I have been rather curious to know what is involved with making *sugar* from beets. Likely there is some particular variety that will be good for that ("sugar beets"?). Likely lots of boiling down is involved (like making maple sugar).
@@allie1953 if u want to try eating beets, I’ve been told the golden ones are sweeter.. pickled beets are delish. I prefer them less sweet and more tangy from the vinegar. Plus. There is a clove taste as well. As for making sugar. Yes. It’s done with sugar beets. And there is Lots and lots of reducing it in a pot.. I saw a video of it being made by a homesteader in my area.
@@NoneyaTexasontheback20 this is the first year I’ve had a real harvest. I did NOT expect to get this kind of germination rates. Now I gotta find ways to get rid of em. I don’t eat em either except pickled

the beets look like they have split from to much water, is the reason they look like that
