I'd like to try growing those next year. I think one or two plants would be plenty for me. I rent a room in a house and I can't have a huge garden but I grew some squash, zucchini, bell and jalapeno peppers, basil and salad stuff in pots over the summer. If cucamelons are okay with being in a pot and growing on a fence in Virginia by the Chesapeake Bay then I will find the seeds for next season. I think I found them growing wild/feral in Costa Rica once. I definitely found tiny watermelon like fruits on a vine. A local lady said they were either bad or poisonous, I don't remember which but I didn't try them. And I would definitely have grown them there if I had known, I had a garden for my wife and I. She didn't know about them but she was a beach chick and we were in the mountains down near Panama. Anyway I want to grow some.

I have also had caterpillars a few years ago. The dig a small hole in the stem where they crawl in, blocking the entire plant above from getting water. I usuall recognize it when the stem starts to droop suddenly. I then use my finger along the stem to find the weak spot, cut it open and then flush the bugger out with water. If discovered in time, the plant will recover.
