Watch two of the leading experts on the Menopause. They'll both be talking about their work in the field and their latest books.
Louise and Kate are in conversation with Harriet Queralt.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE MENOPAUSE BY Kate Muir
'I have huge respect for Kate. A forensic journalist and menopause warrior.' Davina McCall
An eye-opening, no-holds-barred guide to the perimenopause and menopause written by campaigner, journalist and documentary-maker Kate Muir. Everything You Need to Know About the Menopause (and were too afraid to ask) is the thinking woman's guide to the menopause, bringing you answers to all those questions that have been hidden behind a veneer of misplaced shame, bad science and centuries of patriarchy.
    * What's the perimenopause and when will it strike? (It's sooner than you think)
    * What's happening to my body - and my mind?
    * Why can't I stop thinking about sex in perimenopause?
    * How do I get my sex drive back after menopause?
    * How do I look after my body and brain when my hormones disappear?
Muir draws on interviews with the leading medical experts in the field, interlaced with her own tumultuous journey through the menopause and the personal stories of women from all walks of life, sharing their varied experiences and hard-earned wisdom. Muir also questions why the current medical establishment is getting the menopause so wrong, as she debunks the myths that surround hormone replacement therapy and exposes the sloppy science and hysterical headlines that have had a negative impact on women's health for the last twenty years. It's essential that we understand the biology of our own bodies during this critical period that will define the latter half of our lives.

I haven't been able to sleep since my early 40's. I have every symptom going. I had a blood test and it came back normal, doctor said I'm too young to have symptoms. I feel dreadful everyday. I recently had a huge anxiety/rage attack. So I know I'm not functioning properly. I guess I'll have to wait a year or so to have another blood test before I get it sorted

You can’t rely on the NHS, I’ve become disabled because of a simple UTI due to their incompetence/unwillingness to help. It’s very simple to treat, but no GPs do it so there’s just one clinic in London for the whole country that prescribes high dose long term antibiotics (Malone-Lee protocol) and I’m trapped in Shetland. I have no sex life, I haven’t been able to even attempt to get pregnant, because of their incredible dereliction of duty of care and gaslighting.

GPs are paid to prescribe statins when cholesterol is high?

What is safe prescribing? All we have is one size fits all NHS or private. Private isn't cheap. Good to campaign but don't believe you'll get anyway with the government so it'll be 15 to 20 years time to see the increased risks of HRT taking its effect. Is HRT hard to stop once you start? Delaying the symptoms isn't getting rid of them. What's the long term plan?

Oh do get a grip, Ovestin is already known to be safe long term. I suppose you’d rather women just suffer unnecessarily?

Hormones full stop. Are not an area in healthcare that is well funded, researched or understood. I'm suffering from some severe menopause symptoms. Many of which are similar to symptoms my 90yr old mother is still trying to manage.
