- Secretary of State Antony Blinken declared Thursday that Ukraine will eventually become a member of NATO. If that happens, the U.S. would be compelled to respond to attacks on the country. Former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor said on "The Hill" that he was "very pleased" by Blinken's comments. Taylor said it's a good move because the U.S. is being firmer about the possibility.

You realize Ukraine joining NATO is a complete non issue until the war is over?
NATO, by it's own charter, may not induct another nation if that nation is at a state of conflict.

It's hard to define when that is. How long dose the war have to stopped? Becoming a member doesn't sound like a buffer between becoming a full member.

Unlikely probably get vetoed by another existing member and thats assuming they bend the rules on a them already being in conflict which is not permitted.

Finally, the West should have been supporting Ukraine like this from the Get-Go. We need Ukraine in the NATO Alliance, because they have citizens that love Democracy and will die to keep it.

a good move could be diplomacy, or maybe considering to show some type of respect, towards the conserned party.. and if everyone are allowed to protect their so-called interests, what is it that makes US believe, that they should decide what that is or should be for others?

I've heard many stories of horrible Ukrainians.
One of them was a refugee in UK. The family yielded their kid's room for her, but the Ukrainian refugee stole the husband and ran away with him. Later on, the man also couldn't stand it anymore, because the wall in the new room was cut by knife, by the Ukrainian. Very unthankful and disgraceful lots.
